VIP Animal Hospital, as a primary care veterinary clinic, offers a range of essential services designed to maintain the health and well-being of your beloved pets. While they focus on preventative and general medical care, they also provide support for more urgent needs. Their services typically include:
- Routine Wellness Exams: Comprehensive physical examinations to assess your pet's overall health, identify potential issues early, and provide guidance on diet, exercise, and preventative measures. This includes tailored wellness plans for puppies, kittens, adult dogs, and cats.
- Vaccinations: Administration of core and lifestyle-dependent vaccinations for dogs and cats, including rabies (a legal requirement in New Jersey), distemper, parvovirus, leptospirosis, bordetella, and feline leukemia. They prioritize necessary vaccinations over unnecessary ones, as noted by customer reviews.
- Preventative Medicine: Programs for parasite control, including testing and prescription medications for heartworm, fleas, ticks, and intestinal parasites, crucial for keeping New Jersey pets healthy year-round.
- Diagnostic Services: Utilizing tools like X-rays (radiography) and likely in-house laboratory services (blood tests, urinalysis, fecal exams) to accurately diagnose various medical conditions, enabling prompt and effective treatment.
- Surgical Procedures: Performing common surgical procedures. While specific surgical offerings require direct confirmation, a primary care clinic typically handles routine soft tissue surgeries such as spaying, neutering, and minor mass removals.
- Dental Care: Professional dental assessments and cleanings to prevent periodontal disease, which is vital for a pet's overall health.
- Microchipping: Offering microchip implantation for permanent identification, greatly increasing the chances of reunification if your pet becomes lost.
- Urgent Care (during business hours): Addressing non-life-threatening emergencies and urgent medical concerns during their operating hours, providing a crucial first point of contact for unexpected health issues. For after-hours emergencies, they recommend contacting a 24/7 emergency veterinary hospital like Garden State Veterinary Services in Woodbridge.
- Exotic Pet Care: Notably, they treat various exotic pets, as evidenced by a review praising their care for a bunny with a broken leg. This indicates their capability to handle a broader range of species beyond just dogs and cats, which is a valuable service for exotic pet owners in New Jersey.
- End-of-Life Care: Providing compassionate support and guidance during difficult times, including discussions and potentially services for euthanasia, ensuring dignity and comfort for pets and their families.
VIP Animal Hospital distinguishes itself as a highly recommended veterinary practice for New Jersey pet owners through several key features and highlights:
- Exceptional Compassion and Professionalism: Repeatedly highlighted in customer reviews, the staff, from receptionists to technicians and doctors, are described as "incredibly kind and accommodating," "caring, understanding, and kind," and demonstrating "compassion and professionalism." This creates a supportive and comforting experience for pets and their anxious owners, even during stressful situations like a broken bone diagnosis.
- Thorough and Honest Approach: Customers appreciate the "straightforward and no nonsense" approach of the veterinarian, who is praised for being "thorough in his examination" and prioritizing the pet's well-being over "upselling services." This builds immense trust, assuring pet owners that their animals receive only necessary and beneficial treatments.
- Fair and Transparent Pricing: Many reviews commend the "more than fair" pricing, indicating that VIP Animal Hospital strives to provide quality care that is accessible and affordable for the local community, which is a significant factor for many New Jersey families.
- Efficient and Respectful of Time: Clients report being "in and out quickly without ever feeling rushed," suggesting an efficient appointment system that respects clients' time while still allowing for thorough consultations. This balance of speed and attentiveness is highly valued.
- Experienced and Trustworthy Veterinarians: While specific names are not consistently mentioned in public reviews, the positive feedback on the "doctor" (likely Dr. Tony Tavormina, who has been practicing for over thirty years) underscores a high level of expertise and a patient-first philosophy.
- Ability to Handle Diverse Cases: The positive experience with a bunny suffering a broken leg demonstrates their capability to handle not just routine care for common pets but also more complex and specialized cases, including those for exotic animals, which is not offered by every primary care vet.
- Strong Local Recommendation: The fact that clients are "so glad" they were "recommended this clinic" by neighbors or even other businesses (like pet stores) speaks to their strong reputation within the New Jersey community.

VIP Animal Hospital Reviews
We recently brought our new bunny here after noticing he had developed a limp from jumping around. The pet store we purchased him from recommended this clinic, and I’m so glad they did. I was really stressed—especially because my son absolutely adores this bunny—but the staff was incredibly kind and accommodating. They had us come in right away, took an x-ray, and confirmed that the leg was broken. They splinted it with great care and explained everything clearly. Given the circumstances, it was an amazing experience. The compassion and professionalism of both the doctor and the entire team really stood out. I would highly recommend this practice to anyone needing care for their pet.

Jun 26, 2025 · Adriana CuellarI went there because of the positive reviews here but when I went I clearly could not understand the positive reviews. I never met with the doctor to discuss my pet’s medical or vaccination history. I could not go in the examination room either. His assistant came and got my pet to be examined. When I questioned the assistant about it. He told me yeah no you can’t come in and that the doctor will call me in to talk to me after. Well that didn’t happen. The assistant came back out with my pet and started taking all this stuff that my pet did not have like feline diseases. In front of the whole waiting room of just two people but still. If I would have been able to talk to the doctor he would have known that my pet got tested for everything and all tests came back negative and she was also up to date with her shots and she goes to the groomer regularly. This guy then asked me did I get her off the street! I couldn’t believe it. He thought I just got her from the street that’s why I guess he said all that stuff about her having diseases. I instead couldn’t have been a pet owner wanting to just get a check up for my pet with a Vet I thought was of high quality. This dirty place and the staff was not a good fit for us. I would not recommend if you care for your pet. I did not feel welcomed there and for a 5 min visit and paying 300 is crazy too. Money is no object for my pet but that was crazy especially showing no care to me or my pet.
