Walnut Grove Animal Clinic Introduce
For pet owners across the Cherokee County area and Tahlequah, finding a veterinary clinic that truly aligns medical expertise with genuine compassion is paramount. **Walnut Grove Animal Clinic**, conveniently located in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, has established itself as a primary care provider for a variety of beloved animals, offering a focused selection of essential veterinary services. The clinic’s commitment lies in providing dedicated attention to each patient, operating as a full-service veterinarian for the region's companion animals.
While the clinic is a busy and in-demand facility—a common sign of a respected local practice—the level of personal care from certain team members, such as **Dr. Crawford**, frequently garners the highest praise from the Oklahoma community. Clients consistently describe Dr. Crawford as “heaven sent,” “kind, caring, and compassionate,” emphasizing her thoroughness and willingness to take the time to explain every detail, even sitting on the floor to engage directly with her canine patients. This personalized, empathetic approach is exactly what pet owners seek when entrusting their "fur babies" to veterinary professionals, especially when seeking a second opinion after a previous negative experience.
The clinic handles everything from routine wellness to more complex needs, including surgical procedures and specialized care for non-traditional pets. However, as is the case with many popular local clinics, a high demand means that proactive scheduling is often necessary, and clients are advised that **appointments are recommended** to ensure timely service. This is a practice focused on dedicated, scheduled care for the community it serves.
It is important for prospective clients to note the mixed experiences shared by community members. While there is profound loyalty and high praise for the expertise and compassion of veterinarians like Dr. Crawford, some recent reviews have pointed to challenges with scheduling, front-desk interactions, and follow-up communication, highlighting a potential area for service consistency improvement, especially during busy periods. However, the core, high-quality medical care remains a strong draw.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1- We’ve brought our dogs and cats here for about three years now, but late last year/early this year it has gone completely downhill. The first big problem was when they brought one of our dogs back to us with a muzzle on after clipping her nails! Without even asking if that was okay! If it had been because she tried to bite them, sure, I’d understand that, but it was ‘to distract her from jumping on them’. I would’ve rather them done it in the room for me to hold her or just not done it at all. They’ve stopped calling after appointments and procedures to ask how they’re doing. They usually can’t get you in for a week. Which. Wow. The compassion is gone. I came in today almost in tears as we were dealing with issues with one of our cats. ‘We can’t help you, we’re appointment early’. No offer to just talk through options, to the vet, and no offer to make an appointment. Just started to hand me a list of other vets. I had to ask when the soonest one was there. Sadly, it didn’t work for us. I’m extremely disappointed in this clinic because we used to LOVE going here and now it feels like we’re unwanted. The girl at the desk had no sincerity in her voice and just a blank stare on her face almost like I was an inconvenience to her day. We likely will not be back. July 17 · Addyson Dunham
- Dr Crawford is heaven sent!!😇 I had a bad experience at another vet with my poor dog, so I wanted a 2nd opinion and I was HIGHLY impressed with her knowledge and generosity! She's so kind, caring, and compassionate! She sat in the floor with my dog and asked me multiple questions and she took her time explaining every detail! There's not enough stars ✨️ to give in my opinion, she's the absolute best! If you're looking for someone that actually cares for animals it's her! The staff was very sweet as well.... thank you so much!! 🤍🤍 March 05 · Darla Tinnin
- Dr. Crawford and all her staff are so kind, considerate, and fantastic. I love that Dr. Crawford gives you a range of price options that best serve the needs of your furbaby as well as your budget! She is always so friendly and explains everything to you in a way that isn’t condescending or judgmental, and truly helps you understand what you need to make the most informed decision.Me and my furbabies July 21 · Ceciley Thomason-Murphy
- Our Yorkie's eye started watering badly and she wouldn't open her eye and was trying to rub it while we were at Lake Tenkiller camping. I called my vet and they said I should find a vet to take her to las soon as possible. I called Walnut and told them our problem and they got us in the next morning. They were very nice and accommodating. The Dr was extremely kind to our little girl. She sat on the floor with her, talked softly and gave her a treat to help take away the fear of a new place and vet.It was a corneal ulcer and required two kinds of drops for a week. She also had to wear a cone to keep her from scraping and rupturing the ulcer. So we now have a new vet when we are at the lake. I would definitely recommend. April 22 · paula selby
- Brought my dog in 30 mins before they were to close because he couldn’t stand up and is falling over, he is throwing up foam and they said they are about to be seeing their last patient and then leaving. Awful service. Not very animal friendly obviously. Would not recommend. Gave us a paper of some 24/7 vets and basically said good luck. June 19 · Lacy Reed
