It is important to note, however, that some customer reviews have raised significant concerns regarding animal welfare and store conditions. Issues cited include dirty tanks, sick animals, overcrowded enclosures, and poor air quality, with specific mention of fish dying shortly after purchase and rats succumbing to respiratory illnesses. These serious claims suggest potential challenges in animal care and overall store hygiene, which are critical factors for any responsible pet owner to consider. While individual experiences may vary, such feedback highlights the importance of observing the conditions firsthand and making informed decisions.

Adam's Pet Safari Reviews
The fish were all in dirty tanks that smelt bad and the fish we bought were sick and wiped out our entire tank that has been fine beforehand for several weeks. This is our last one that just died this morning (see in picture below). They also have so many over stocked animals and just tank after tank stacked on top of each other with dirty bins of water “The vats of doom” and many of these tanks are excessively dirty. I understand a shrimp tank is supposed to have some dirt/ mess in it but nowhere near that much sludge. Next time sticking with petsmart much cleaner, healthier, cheaper and way more humane.
Jan 18, 2025 · Koren LayThis place is terrible, I’m actually surprised it’s still open. So many animals crammed in tiny spaces. The air quality probably isn’t great for them. I’ve personally bought 4 rats from this store within the past 3/4 years or so. All of them, yes all 4, ended up dying from a respiratory illness. Two needed to be put to sleep because medication just wasn’t working. The other two rats progressed so quickly I didn’t have time to get them to the vet and they passed suddenly. One of the rats was sick the night I brought him home. He started to make honking noises when breathing and he started to breathe through his mouth. I took him to the shower for steam and sat with him for a few hours, keeping him warm and breathing and managed to save his life until I could get to the vet. Also, I’m pretty sure all of the rats had mites, and lice when I bought them. I tried to figured out where they came from because these dang small bugs kept coming back after months. The only explanation in my mind is the rats had them at the store. Which makes sense now, Because the store is gross. The rodents were all crammed into small glass aquariums. Rats need good air quality and ventilation due to their respiratory system are weaker. And I’m sure the baby rats were bullying each other. They can get rough sometimes and they get stressed in such a small spaces. Anyways, The whole place stinks, and it seems like they don’t do water changes or clean tanks or anything. I don’t believe this place should be open. And I will personally try to get them shut down. Which is a shame because it did seem like they really cared for the animals at first. Some of the employees would kiss the rats and say goodbye when I bought them. When I get more rats in the future, I will be doing more research and getting them from the correct places and/breeders.
Jun 20, 2025 · Cheyanne KendraLove coming here! Lots of selection and different animals. Fish are great! Pricing is pretty decent. If you have any pet allergies however, I wouldn’t venture in. There is definitely a strong pet odor, probably the ferrets and rats/mice. Recommend stopping and checking it out!
May 26, 2025 · RoséWe've gotten pet rats from here for many generations (when there aren't local rats up for adoption). Their breeders to a great job breeding healthy, friendly rats, and they clearly care about them. The generally exceed their 2 year average lifespan and live 3-4 years. Thanks very much to Adam and his team! 😁
