The owner is very nice but unfortunately, this store is a mess. There are guinea pigs breeding freely, several larger birds in small cages, a turaco with no fruit, no toys and no friend as well as a hornbill in a small parrot cage with no toys, fruit or anything. Many of the guinea pigs appear ill as well as the many skinny pigs (hairless) who are consistently reproducing. The prices for some of the birds are so above market value that u couldn’t even try to save them if I wanted to.
May 10, 2025 · Insect ArmadaAs a biologist and conservationist this place is nothing other than deplorable and inhumane. Guinea pigs are kept underneath birds in outside temperatures. Some of the largest and most intelligent birds locked in a cage they can’t even spread their wings in, with no toys or interactive pieces. Just the smell is enough of a tell. Please do not support places like this… even in an attempt to rescue the animals you’re still putting money in the pockets of people who are not short of animal abusers.
May 09, 2025 · Vanesa CurtisI just got my Military Macaw groomed. He is a feisty bird but these guys knew how to handle him. Nicks has lots of birds who could use a new home. I have had my bird about 25 years so it is a commitment but a great life with a wonderful character. He also has lots of guinea pigs if fur is your fancy. Great big pet shop. Thanks for the great service.
Jan 02, 2025 · DianeAs an exotic pet owner this is just sad.. overpopulated enclosures /minimum enrichment if not any for these mass amounts of animals. Lots of beautiful birds kept in horribly small cages. Nothing special at all seems like a cash grab at the poor animals expense. And don’t get me started about how disgusting everything I saw was, all the terrestrial animals had feces everywhere and flies which I can only imagine the stress that puts on them. If you have a pet store this large with this many animals you need to have staff constantly spot cleaning and maintaining for the animals health. God forbid if you had to live in your own feces and have that many people around you , you’d get sick these animals at at risk of health issues. Overcrowding and most if not all rodent enclosures had no proper coverage while these creatures are anxiety ridden and known to need hidden away spaces . I do not recommend this store at all I know big chain stores are bad but at least they don’t have this broad of selection of animals to abuse like these folks. Do better.
Apr 13, 2025 · Natalie LabbeWe love seeing all the new and interesting animals they have while picking up our regular pet care items. Right now they have skunks, a litter of baby hedgehogs, a litter of hairless guinea pigs, and even prairie dogs! It always a pleasure to visit this local small business !
