Affordable Pet Hospital Reviews
Dr. Morris and the staff at Affordable Pet Hospital are fantastic! I’ve never met a more knowledgeable and dedicated team. They know my dogs and care about their treatment. I wish Dr. Morris could be my own primary physician. I trust them completely with my pets’ health and they offer veterinarian services 7 days a week. Currently, we have a staph infection and Dr. Morris has been more than helpful with the treatment plan. I always know my pups are in great hands. Thank you for your tireless work and unwavering commitment.
Jun 21, 2025 · KimBerLey R. MorrowDr. Debra Deem Morris, DVM, DACVIM, at Affordable Pet Hospital in Tampa, Florida, consistently withheld important information about my dog, Cohen (an 8-year-old, 8 lb Pomeranian-Poodle), and provided inaccurate details. Dr. Morris informed me that Cohen had a tumor affecting part of his liver, which was detected during an ultrasound she recommended. Following this procedure, a needle biopsy of the tumor was performed, but Dr. Morris was unable to determine whether the tumor was benign or malignant. She claimed to have consulted with an oncologist to assess the biopsy results.Dr. Morris knew that I would only proceed with surgery if the tumor was benign, as I made it clear to her over the phone. After our conversation, Dr. Morris called me back shortly after (a red flag, but I was just focused on Cohen’s well-being), claiming that the oncologist had confirmed the tumor was benign and advised that we move forward with scheduling the surgery. On the day of surgery (September 9, 2024), Dr. Morris failed to inform me of a significant delay in the surgery, which pushed the procedure close to closing time. She explained that the delay was due to complications in a previous surgery performed by Dr. Garcia, the surgeon. Dr. Morris also told me, "you wouldn’t want him to leave if your dog was in critical condition," yet that is exactly what happened once they realized they went through with a surgery without having the proper tools to stabilize Cohen. After the surgery, which was performed by Dr. Garcia, Cohen was in critical condition. Dr. Morris, despite previously stating the tumor was benign based on the biopsy and consultation with the oncologist, was now uncertain whether the tumor was cancerous or benign. At this point, I was told that I would need to personally transport Cohen to an ER vet 30 minutes away (VEG), as Affordable Pet Hospital lacked the necessary equipment and medication to stabilize him, yet they had proceeded with the surgery anyway. Dr. Garcia also stated that the reason why Cohen was having such difficulty was because he was so small, and the tumor was so large, that his body and internal organs were struggling with adjusting after removing the mass.As I was preparing to take him to the ER, Dr. Morris increased his dopamine IV from 10 to 12, but struggled with operating the IV machine and had to be guided through its use by the vet techs in the room. I also noticed the tumor on the table behind Cohen, and it appeared to be about half his size, much larger than Dr. Morris had described. Prior to surgery, Dr. Morris also made comments of Cohens weight claiming his was overweight and that he would need to be on a diet and loose weight- including during the time of the ultrasound, biopsy, and other procedures leading up to his surgery. However, now in hindsight, I question how much of his “weight” was due to the tumor he had- which she knew exactly how large it was. Additionally, prior to surgery I expressed my concern of Cohens size and the tumor, and asked if he should be on a medication such as Palladia to decrease the size of the tumor prior to surgery, to which Dr Morris stated it wouldn’t be necessary since it was only taking up a portion of his liver. After Cohen’s passing, I requested his full veterinary records, which revealed that the tumor extended "from his diaphragm to caudal to the liver," a significantly larger mass than what Dr. Morris had communicated. During our discussions about Cohen’s chances of survival, Dr. Morris had estimated a 50% chance of recovery if we took him to VEG, but tragically, within minutes of leaving Affordable Pet Hospital with Cohen still attached to the dopamine IV on our way to VEG, my sweet boy passed away in my arms. With this all being said, I advise anyone seeking care for their fur babies to go elsewhere. Although the vet techs are phenomenal, Dr. Morris does not seem to truly care about anything other than generating money for this facility. If this were any other profession, she would either have her license revoked, or forced to retire.
Jun 19, 2025 · Liza RomanMy dog was down bad and they really are helping him gain his life back! Just been a few days and major improvements ! Feb 05, 2025 · Rashawn “Yah Shawn”I spoke with the Affordable Pet Hospital doctor BEFORE going to her office to have my bird checked out. She tried to sound knowledgeable about exotic birds but was very vague when discussing my bird's issues. I was desperate to get my bird checked out because he wasn't well. When I got there, I realized how inept they were about these little creatures. The doctor should have been upfront with me on the phone because it was apparent that she knew absolutely nothing about exotic birds. They had no idea how to handle a bird and it was awkward and exasperating watching these amateurs stressing him out! It was all just guess work so they could bill me for services rendered. If you care about your pets, I would certainly find another vet. I hate to think of the kind of care the rest of her clientele get for their pets. Just shady business practices when one can't be upfront with patrons. Shame on them.
Jul 21, 2025 · DijAffordable Pet Hospital has been a lifesaver for me and my cat. Dr. Morris is truly exceptional — she's caring, kind, patient, and incredibly smart. Despite being an internist, her prices are very reasonable, which I really appreciate. I especially love that they are open on Sundays, making it so much easier to get care when it's needed most. My cat has a difficult-to-treat upper respiratory infection, and Dr. Morris has gone above and beyond every step of the way. I can't say enough good things about the care and compassion we've received here!
