Animal Emergency of Mokena Introduce
For pet owners in Mokena, Illinois, and the surrounding suburbs, an unexpected medical crisis involving a beloved animal can be a terrifying experience. In these moments, having a reliable and professional **emergency veterinarian service** is absolutely critical. **Animal Emergency of Mokena** serves as a vital resource for the community, operating as a dedicated animal hospital and veterinarian focused on urgent and critical care. As an emergency-only clinic, it is equipped to handle situations that cannot wait for a regular vet appointment. This specialization means the facility is prepared for a wide range of medical emergencies, from sudden illnesses to injuries and accidental ingestions. A key feature of their service is the ability to provide care 24/7, offering peace of mind to pet owners when their regular vet’s office is closed. The clinic's primary mission is to be a lifeline for pets in crisis, providing the rapid response and advanced medical attention they need to recover. They understand the stress and urgency that come with a pet emergency and strive to provide timely and effective care in a high-pressure environment.
The experience at Animal Emergency of Mokena can be a mixed bag, as evidenced by contrasting customer reviews. On one hand, a client had a very positive experience, praising the vet and staff for being "very knowledgeable and great with handling our dog, Apollo." This family was in a stressful situation after their dog swallowed something he shouldn't have. They were grateful for the clear communication regarding costs and the successful outcome of the overnight care, which involved pumping fluids to help the object pass. The client noted, "Overall we are very happy with them and would take Apollo, our dog, here again." This review highlights the professionalism and effectiveness of the medical team in a critical situation. However, another review shared a heartbreaking and frustrating experience with a staff member who was reportedly unable to perform a basic procedure on an elderly, anemic cat and lacked sympathy. This client also reported a double-billing error that added to their distress. This review serves as a cautionary tale and a reminder that while the doctors may be excellent, the quality of care can be dependent on the entire staff and a busy, high-stress environment can lead to human error. It also underscores the importance of a pet owner's due diligence, even in an emergency.
Despite the negative incident, the positive review demonstrates that the clinic is fully capable of providing life-saving care with professionalism and transparency, especially regarding costs. They are an essential part of the Illinois pet healthcare landscape, providing a specialized service that is not available everywhere. Their focus on emergency medicine means they have the equipment and experience to handle critical cases, which is a significant advantage in a crisis. Services like X-rays and overnight care are standard offerings that make them a reliable resource for pet owners when time is of the essence. It is worth noting that in a high-volume emergency setting, challenges can arise, but the clinic's core function as a place for urgent care is invaluable for the community. The key takeaway for any pet owner is to be prepared and understand that an emergency clinic's primary role is stabilization and urgent treatment, and the experience can vary depending on the specific circumstances and staff on duty.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Please, please, please do NOT take your pet here!! The doctor is great; however, the staff is not properly trained and can’t perform basic procedures. They poked my anemic, elderly cat four times trying to draw blood and still couldn’t do it. The staff treated him with no sympathy whatsoever, you could clearly see my cat was uncomfortable and in pain, yet they just kept poking him without success, going to get the doctor after. They truly wore my cat out and gave him a terrible experience. I will forever regret bringing him here. He passed away a week later. And to top it off, they accidentally charged me double, I am not exaggerating. The bill was supposed to be $350 and came out to around $700. I caught it on the receipt and asked to get a refund. I promise you, you’re better off somewhere else. I wish I paid more and found a more experienced clinic.
August 11 · Celine QwertWe had a great experience here, the vet and staff were all very knowledgeable and great with handling our dog, Apollo. He had eaten something he shouldn’t have, they broke down the cost after running some xrays (which they also told us the upfront cost for). It was recommended to keep him overnight to pump fluids into him to motivate whatever he swallowed into coming out. This worked very well and saved us so much worry. Sure it was expensive to us, but what vet bill isn’t? I kind of thought it might be more. Anyway… Overall we are very happy with them and would take Apollo, our dog, here again. Thank you to the team!!
August 08 · Kp10neerThank you, Dr. Gary for your kind words when my dog Swag had to go to sleep. Dr. Gary thank you for your sympathy and kindness. I deeply appreciate your expression of sympathy. I also appreciate your staff and especially Eric, was very kind and thoughtful. Thank you all so very much 🙏🏼
January 22 · KARICO TERRYI witnessed a dog get hit by a car and called this emergency vet as it appeared to be the closest. The person answering the phone was rude and cold. When we arrived I called to let them know we were in the parking lot. She refused to unlock the door until I provided my name, address, phone number, the name of my vet (which clearly doesn’t matter since it was not my dog) the color and breed of the dog. I stood outside the locked door and watched as she asked me these questions and the dog lay in the car internally bleeding. Once she finally unlocked the door the hospital provided no assistance in bringing the dog inside and acted with no sense of urgency. Every other emergency vet I have been to has some kind of trauma protocol. This one clearly did not or clearly didn’t follow it. The only positive was the doctor was very compassionate. Incredibly disappointed with this experience.
August 03 · Lauren DavalleI visited this hospital on July 4th with concerns about my dog. I explained to the doctors that he had been excessively itching, had scabs all over his body, and was frequently tucking his tail. After examining him, including his tail and genital area, they assured me there was nothing wrong. They mentioned the scabs were just from scratching and suggested trimming some fur on his tail to reduce irritation.Despite expressing my concerns and wanting to understand what was causing the scratching, they dismissed it as nothing serious. I left with a $205 bill and no real answers—only to return home and see my dog continue to scratch and tuck his tail, possibly even worse than before.I feel completely let down. I trusted this facility to provide professional care and guidance, and instead I left with no resolution. Now I have to take him to another hospital and spend more money, all because Animal Emergency of Mokena failed to properly address the issue. I will not be returning.
