Animal Eye Clinic Introduce
For pet owners in the Oklahoma City metro and across the state, dealing with a pet’s eye condition or vision loss can be a stressful and urgent matter. The health of an animal’s eyes requires specialized knowledge beyond that of a general practitioner. Animal Eye Clinic in Oklahoma City stands as a premier specialty practice, focusing exclusively on veterinary ophthalmology—the diagnosis and treatment of ocular diseases and surgical procedures of the eye for all animal species.
The clinic's mission is to provide the highest level of care possible, working in direct collaboration with your primary care veterinarian. Led by Dr. Robert M. Gwin, DVM, MS, a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists (ACVO), the team offers an unparalleled depth of expertise. Dr. Gwin brings decades of experience, having held faculty positions at prestigious universities and conducted significant research on inherited and acquired eye diseases in animals. His dedication to advanced, compassionate treatment is consistently praised by clients, especially those whose pets have complex or difficult-to-treat conditions like diabetic cataracts.
It is important for Oklahoma pet owners to understand that the Animal Eye Clinic operates as a specialty referral practice. This means they focus solely on ophthalmology and coordinate care with your referring veterinarian, who remains responsible for your pet's general health and non-ocular needs. This collaborative approach ensures comprehensive and focused medical support.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1- Dr. Gwin is absolutely a wonderful eye doctor for your pups and very caring and gentle. He is the only doctor that was able to give my Zoe some sight as she has been a very difficult case. I highly recommend him and his staff in the back as they are absolutely wonderful. July 31 · Amanda Parker
- Gosh, Dr. Gwin and his staff have been amazing to us. We have an elderly lady lab who went blind from diabetes while we were traveling for 2 weeks. Dr. Gwin got her in immediately and rearranged schedules so he could operate as soon as possible. Our Lilly could see immediately after her phacoemulsification surgery!!! It has dramatically improved her quality of life, and it is like she is a 6-year-old again instead of being a confused, disengaged, lethargic 14–year-old dog on her last leg. So amazing. Dr. Gwin and his staff are so knowledgeable and have made this process so easy. I highly recommend consulting him if your dog has diabetic cataracts before you make any major decision ~~ February 21 · Christina Juris Bennett
- We have had the best experience with the Animal Eye Clinic. Everyone in this practice is a 10. From the experienced Dr’s to the med assistants, to the people at the desk. We are so lucky to have this group in OKC. August 07 · Pat Buckner
- They saved my cat's eye. She had a severe corneal ulcer which was melting the eye tissue, and would have likely led to a rupture and complete loss of her eye if we didn't bring her here. We first started noticing symptoms at the end of February and took her to a general practice veterinarian who weren't able to properly help her, and I am so glad we started coming to see Dr. Gwin instead.I took a lot of pictures to show the progress of her eye. It is a night and day difference after the surgery we had on her eye on March 5th.With full disclosure, I probably spent over $3000 at this office for several visits and the procedure itself being about 2/3rds of this amount. However, I don't regret it for a second and I felt like she was in great hands the entire time. March 27 · Colton Wishon
- Dr. Gwinn and his staff are awesome. Been seeing him for 5 years. Wouldn't go anywhere else. Husky with glaucoma in one eye and cataract in the other. April 22 · Catherine Davis
