Dec 19, 2024 · Day SimpsonMy male cat is prone to UTIs when he eats too much dry food. I wasn’t able to get into my normal vet, so I opted to try Banfield.I explained over the phone to them that he eats wet food only for breakfast and dinner, but it doesn’t always satisfy him so I’ll keep some Purina dry food on hand and feed him a little at a time as just a snack because of his prior UTIs which is what his normal vet recommended. I knew for a fact he had a UTI, but wanted to make sure there wasn’t a blockage and hoped to get some antibiotics.Dropped him off no problem, got a call from the vet a couple of hours later and could not have been more infuriated by the conversation. He implied kidney disease with no blood work or a valid urinalysis to back up his claim. I never mentioned to him that I have a vet tech background, but I know the signs of kidney disease and I know my cat very well. That isn’t a concern of mine. After many minutes of debating, he expressed that his urine was coming in small diluted amounts so he couldn’t confirm that this was a UTI problem and the urinalysis didn’t show anything because it was so diluted. At one point he was insinuating that he wasn’t going to treat my cat at all. I explained I’ve been pounding him full of wet food and water to keep him hydrated over the weekend so I wasn’t surprised his urine was diluted, but this has happened before when dry food is involved and I respectfully disagreed with his choice of treatment. Eventually, I got him to agree to prescribe antibiotics and pain meds. He then went on to insinuate that my having a child in the house is stressing my cat out, leading to him showing UTI signs. We went from kidney disease to stress from my child and I could have screamed. My daughter and our cat are best friends, she feeds him, brushes him, he is spoiled rotten by her. He sleeps with her and even attempts to groom her, our cat isn’t stressed by her presence in the least and they’ve grown up together. I immediately argued with him and he kept trying to blame my daughter. I promptly cut the conversation short and said I’d take the antibiotic and pain med route but I was not going to consent to anything else.I pick up my cat, get him home, and he is SOAKED with his own urine. His tail, all four legs, his stomach, his neck…it was heartbreaking. I have no idea how long they left him in his cat carrier, but the amount of urine that had collected at the bottom told me it had to have been quite a while since I live less than five minutes away from Banfield. After 24 hours of antibiotics, my cats UTI symptoms are already gone and he’s acting completely normal.I’m thankful they were available to treat him, but I will never go to this place again. I’ve never felt so insulted by a veterinary professional in my life.
Jun 24, 2025 · Jessica ZaccarineI love bringing my 4 babies to see Dr.Lucas. But if she isn't there they would see Dr.Enge. They both are really good and they really care about there patients. Daisy, one of my female dogs was fixed and had hernia a few months ago and know she is doing very well. Like nothing was ever wrong with her. The lady's at the front desk know me by first name and I love that about them, very friendly.
Jul 06, 2024 · Tammy LawrenceI brought my dog to the Carmia Way location in Chesterfield, VA for a comprehensive exam…I don’t usually go to that location but I needed him in quickly because I believed he consumed something he wasn’t supposed to and he was already due to come in anyway. After his appointment March 15th he wasn’t acting normal and I called back to advise the vet and they wouldn’t even speak to me directly, they spoke through their receptionist and told me he was fine his blood work was normal and to monitor him for a few days at home and bring him in if he isn’t getting better. Well he seemed to be getting better but I still sensed a sadness with him until March 28th He was drinking a lot of water and collapsed with labored breathing and vomiting and even stopped walking. I take him to the emergency vet and he ended up having a cancerous mass that caused internal bleeding. I had to put my baby down with no warning and no time to mentally prepare. I have my sister who is a nurse review his labs from Banfield and they said it read his white bloods cells were low and he had anemia signs for possible cancer and potential bleeding 2 weeks prior. How am I paying $60 a month for the veterinarian to miss something like that? I could’ve had time to prepare myself for my baby to be potentially dying but instead was advised incorrectly and had to make a rash decision to put him down so that he won’t suffer. I had him for 9 years since he was 9 weeks old…this has been devastating I called for an explanation and again a veterinarian did not make themselves available for communication. I would not recommend going here and I am going to regret it forever.
