Winterfield Veterinary Hospital Reviews
I am extremely pleased with my recent experience at Winterfield Veterinary Hospital. I took my senior dog there for grooming a couple of weeks ago (first time there). Trish did a fantastic job!! She took her time with him (he needs lots of breaks due to his advanced age). He looks great!!! Staff was friendly and helpful. We'll be back. Thanks!
May 01, 2025 · k bI’ve been extremely disappointed with the customer service at Winterfield Veterinary Hospital, especially when dealing with the clinic office manager. Every time I take my pet in for grooming, I’m told after I arrive that he needs something new—whether it’s a vaccine, medication, or physical exam. These requirements are never communicated beforehand, which feels like a consistent lack of transparency and coordination.Just yesterday, my pet had an appointment for grooming with sedation, and the service was declined because he was not "mildly sedated" upon arrival. However, he has never taken Trazodone before, and at no point did anyone from Winterfield clearly communicate that he needed to be pre-sedated before the appointment. I invite you to check the messages or reminders Winterfield sends—nowhere is that instruction mentioned. This is not only poor communication but also extremely frustrating and a waste of time. This pattern of last-minute surprises and lack of clear expectations has become the norm, not the exception. I share the same concerns and frustrations expressed by others like Stephen and Erin Coney. Winterfield is in serious need of improvement—from better communication and customer service to a more professional and responsive management team.Until major changes are made, I would not recommend this clinic.
May 28, 2025 · Johanna SantosOnce a Reliable Clinic—Now Deeply DisappointingI’ve been taking my pets to Winterfield for well over a decade—likely since around 2008, when I first adopted my dog. For many years, I was satisfied with the care they provided. But recently, the level of service and professionalism has sharply declined. I'm left wondering what changed.Over the years, I’ve trusted them with a wide variety of animals—dogs, cats, sugar gliders, ferrets. I even once asked if they could see my Serama chickens, only to be laughed at over the phone. I’m not sure who they think is eating Seramas, but many people keep chickens as pets. For a veterinary clinic, that response was surprisingly dismissive. I expected more understanding and respect from professionals in animal care.I overlooked several concerning incidents in the past, but the growing pattern of questionable practices has become hard to ignore. A few examples:I was charged nearly $300 for a single antibiotic shot—without any prior disclosure. A simple heads-up would’ve been appreciated.I received a $20 bill for trimming a cat’s rear fur—something that took five seconds and seemed more like a gesture of kindness than a billable service.A sugar glider died following a hernia repair.Basic supplies like needles, tubing, and saline were marked up 10–20 times their cost.I’ve repeatedly been upsold on tests that provided no real value to my pets' health. In my experience, unless a treatment involves something direct and tangible —like antibiotics or fluids—it rarely seems to make much of a difference. Once your pet is placed on a medication regimen, it feels like you’re trapped in a cycle of ongoing costs, with little flexibility or empathy.I even took in a 19-year-old stray cat I found dying in the street—an act that came with significant financial responsibility. When I had to delay a follow-up due to a temporary lack of funds as I told them, I was charged a $20 no-show fee. It wasn’t the cost that bothered me, but the lack of grace—especially after years of loyalty and thousands of dollars spent. I had also referred my father, who spent around $1,000, and I paid another $3,000 toward that same rescued cat—every cent paid in full. What stung most was the cold, scripted response. "Heather" speaks of “supporting you and your pet,” over and over yet they refuse to release medical records until a measly $20 fee was paid, or tide your meds over for a few weeks. No exception. No empathy. No sense of loyalty. You’d think a long-time client in good standing might be offered a little understanding—maybe even a courtesy bag of fluids to tide the cat over, or a simple “don’t worry about the fee this time.” Instead, it was rigid policy over people, and cash over compassion.Winterfield may still be acceptable for routine visits. But if you’re looking for transparency, understanding, or basic respect for your loyalty, I’d recommend going elsewhere. To them, your pet is a profit center. And when the money slows down, their compassion disappears, regardless of how long you’ve been with them.
May 16, 2025 · StephenExceptional Care and Compassionate Service!I recently visited Winterfield Veterinary, and I am beyond impressed with the care and professionalism they provide. From the moment I walked in, the staff was welcoming, attentive, and genuinely passionate about animals. The facility is clean, modern, and well-equipped, ensuring that every pet receives the best care possible. The veterinarians and technicians are knowledgeable, patient, and take the time to explain every detail about your pet’s health. They never rush through appointments and make you feel like your pet is their top priority. What stood out most was their compassion. The team went above and beyond to make Callie comfortable, offering gentle handling and plenty of reassurance. It’s clear they truly love what they do.Whether it’s routine check-ups, vaccinations, or more complex treatments, Winterfield Veterinary delivers top-notch care. I’m grateful to have found a clinic that treats my pet like family. I highly them to anyone looking for a trusted and caring veterinary team! Have been going to Winterfield for many years! Simply the BEST!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Dec 11, 2024 · Jenn MThe team of veterinary professionals provided excellent care to my cat while I was visiting the practice for his annual physical. Unfortunately, I think their customer service needs improvement. The vet made a mistake a prescribed an incorrect dosage for an antibiotic that my cat was required to take. I notified the practice after I realized the volume of medicine was getting low. They realized their mistake and after several moments of miscommunication and misunderstanding I realized what I should be dosing my cat. The experience was extremely inconvenient and expensive. I was willing to pay for the additional medicine however I thought the practice would have provided me with a better customer service experience...a small credit, refund for the medicine, an apology etc.. since they made the mistake. After communicating with two office managers, making another visit to the office, and talking to the vet I gave up on trying to get them to recognize the inconvenience they had placed on me. They wouldn't acknowledge a courtesy credit of any kind therefore I walked away from the experience wishing they would have made it right. The office manager was very condescending and pointed out to me that if I went to Kroger and had the same experience no one would bother with making my experience better or right. She also mentioned in an insulting tone that this same mistake could happen if I had a child. Exceptional care yet poor customer service.
