For pet owners in Clifton Park, New York, Banfield Pet Hospital offers a distinct option for veterinary care, particularly appealing to those who prioritize a structured and predictable approach to their pet's health management. The core suitability of Banfield for local New Yorkers lies in its emphasis on preventive care, often facilitated through its Optimum Wellness Plans®. These plans can be a convenient solution for managing routine veterinary expenses, providing unlimited office visits and bundling essential services like vaccinations and diagnostic testing into a fixed monthly cost. This model can help New York residents budget for their pet's health, potentially encouraging more frequent wellness visits and early detection of issues, rather than waiting for severe problems to arise.
The clinic's features, such as 24/7 access to Vet Chat™ for advice and digital access to medical records via an app, cater to the modern, often busy lifestyle of New Yorkers, offering convenience and immediate support. While a large corporate structure can lead to consistency across locations, local users should consider their individual preferences for continuity of care with specific veterinarians, as the high turnover mentioned in some reviews could impact long-term relationships with a particular doctor. For pets needing ongoing management of chronic conditions or complex diagnoses, clear and consistent communication with the veterinary team and management is paramount, and it would be advisable for local residents to assess how well their personal communication needs align with the clinic's practices.
Ultimately, for New York pet owners seeking a veterinary provider with a strong focus on preventive care, standardized services, and convenient features like wellness plans and virtual consultations, Banfield Pet Hospital in Clifton Park presents a viable option. It is particularly suitable for those who value a systematic approach to routine pet health and appreciate the transparent budgeting that wellness plans can offer, providing a foundation for maintaining their pet's well-being within the Capital Region.

Banfield Pet Hospital Reviews
I'm sad to no longer recommend Banfield of Clifton Park. I've been bringing my pets here for 7+ years and have previously received great care. However, as a client, I've probably attended this clinic longer than the majority of the employees have worked there, as their turnover is awful.Due to this, I've unfortunately received consistent sub-par care from Dr. Estrada. He does not call back about results and will gladly dismiss your concerns as you're navigating a new diagnosis and symptoms of an autoimmune disease that your dog has. However, he seems to be the only vet available, considering the Saturday he wasn't there, the vet on duty didn't even bother to show up until almost 2 hours after the clinic opened. Also don't bother telling them that you would rather have a different vet for your appointments, because then every appointment from there on will be with that exact vet 🙃.Alas, we've reached Practice Manager, Paige Wells, who is truly no manager at all. After requesting x-rays and calling and calling for the results to be reviewed with me, I come to find out that the clinic didn't complete the full scans of my dog but yet they expected me to pay for them again, when they should have been completed in the first place. After asking for a manager to discuss the situation, I was dismissed by Paige Wells, as she refused to talk with me and relayed the information to waive the cost through a vet tech. After requesting again to speak with a Manager, Paige finally came out. After relaying the same information here and that I had already been in contact with Banfield Client Support previously, she assured me she had not been made aware of my concerns and she would look into the situation. She asked if I would like to be emailed to document the situation and her findings, and yet I still have not heard from her. Guess she lost my contact information 😉. Ive also followed up with Banfield Client Support and they are no longer responding.Take the information as you will. I just caution you to take your pets here, as you and your pet are not their primary interest anymore.

Jun 15, 2025 · Jennifer AllenI can’t say enough good things about the Clifton Park Banfield. We recently lost our 13.5 year old Maltese, and the staff was truly exceptional in her end-of-life care. My entire family was treated with incredible kindness that made such a dark time just a tiny bit easier. I unexpectedly rescued a puppy soon after, and Banfield has been exceptional in terms of her care. The front desk staff are incredible, and seem genuinely excited to see my girl when I bring her in. Every veterinarian I’ve interacted with has been kind, thorough, and empathetic. I think it says a lot that my anxious puppy LOVES her trips there, and seems like she almost doesn’t want to come home with me when it’s time to leave. I truly look forward to bringing my dog here for years to come.
Dec 10, 2024 · Kathryn EfnerJust went to the Banfield Hospital in Clifton Park to have my cat’s claws trimmed. We do this every 5-6 weeks. We have been going to this Banfield location for 2 years and prior to today have been very happy with the service there. Today when I went there was a new lady working the front desk who was extremely rude and difficult to deal with. She told me that they started a new policy that they would need to do an exam and charge me an extra $75 for the visit. I was confused as nobody had reviewed this with me and I actually just spoke to them yesterday when they called to confirm the appointment. At first it seemed like they wanted to do an exam every time he came in to get his claws trimmed but their new policy is mandatory bi-annual physicals. When I asked what the exam was for as I was confused with it, the lady said it’s “just to examine the cat”. My response to her was what are they examining? He was just here last month. Like what are they going to examine him for? Her response was “it’s just my managers new thing I dont know they just are going to examine him ya know”. I asked again “what are they examining him for he comes here every month?” She said “I don’t know they’ll examine him for whatever I guess it’s my managers new thing so take it up with her I don’t care”. I said “why didn’t anyone tell me about this ahead of time I just spoke to your office yesterday?” She got very rude and agressive with me and seemed to get a kick out of starting a fight with me. I told her ok do whatever they need to do and that I might look for another vet going forward but my pet needs to be seen today so I would pay whatever is needed. She then told me that because I “threatened” to stop going there that they would not see myCat today or at all going forward. I told her that I would like to speak to a manager. The Pets Mart manager came and spoke to me as the Banfield manager was not there. She was very polite and nice to deal with. She set my cat up to get his claws trimmed with the groomer. I told the manager that I would like to speak to the Banfield manager about how I was treated as I haven’t been treated that rudely in as long as I can remember. They did give me the Banfield managers card (as she wasn’t there at the time) but I was told that the Banfield front desk girl had called the manager and that they were going to have the police called to physically remove me from the store until she intervened so she didn’t know how much good it would do. Banfield had been such a nice place to take our cat until today. Literally everyone there was so nice until my experience today. I am happy with PetSmart but highly do not recommended this Banfield location for veterinary services.
