What is worth choosing
Choosing a veterinarian for your horse is a decision of immense importance, and Blue Water Equine Hospital offers a compelling case as a top-tier choice for Michigan's equestrian community. The most significant factor that sets them apart is their exclusive specialization in equine medicine. This focus means their entire practice, from their staff to their equipment, is tailored to the specific and often complex needs of horses. For an owner, this translates to a higher level of expertise and care, whether it's for a routine vaccine or a severe colic episode. The availability of 24-hour emergency services is a non-negotiable for many horse owners, and Blue Water Equine Hospital's commitment to this critical service provides invaluable peace of mind. One client, a fellow Vet Tech, noted the "gentle and patient" approach of the doctors, which is a powerful endorsement from someone who understands the industry. This client also praised the entire staff as "wonderful" and has been a loyal customer for eight years, which speaks to a consistently positive experience.
However, it is also important for clients to be aware of the varied experiences that can occur. One review details a misdiagnosis and a difficult customer service experience, expressing frustration with the outcome and the advice given. This kind of feedback underscores the importance of a strong client-veterinarian relationship, open communication, and the practice of seeking second opinions for serious or complex health issues. While a single negative review does not define the entire practice, it is a reminder that professional care is a partnership, and it is crucial for owners to feel confident and informed throughout the process.
Despite this, the hospital’s documented capabilities and the positive experiences of many long-term clients make it a valuable resource. The ability to perform advanced procedures, such as advanced dental treatments and orthopedic surgeries, on-site is a huge advantage. Furthermore, their field services and mobile diagnostic units bring high-level care directly to the horse, reducing stress and logistical challenges for owners. The hospital's proactive approach, including preventative care plans and wellness packages, shows a dedication to not just treating illness but actively promoting health and longevity. For those in Michigan looking for a partner in their horse's health, the blend of specialized knowledge, advanced technology, and compassionate service at Blue Water Equine Hospital makes it a highly reputable choice for both routine and emergency care.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Dr.Mason is so gentle and patient with my young horses. My horse Kiz tried to play with him and his tech by taking their clipboard. Dr. Mason then had to catch my other horse for the exam - he did. I have used Bluewater for all my horses over the years - for 8 years now. All the staff and doctors are wonderful - Thank you all so much🐴💕 a fellow Vet Tech
May 31 · Sandi Leonard, LVTMisdiagnosed my horse with EPM. Then Charged me a bunch of money to say “take your horse to msu, we have no idea what is wrong.” Terrible customer service. That horse now is doing amazing. Five months later and he’s made a full recovery. and they told me I would never be able to ride him again. New vet believes he had a neck injury that healed its self. Blue water would refuse to believe that could have been a possibility. Also Gave me results over the phone with out being able to read them. I was told not to use this vet by many others and I trusted them anyway. Don’t make the same mistake as me. Call a different vet. If your horse gets diagnosed with EPM you should reach out to me. As rebalance or whatever they will prescribe you does not work and is terrible for gut health. I have answers for you that will actually work.
February 21 · Mallory YounceI am not a client, but was in need of help, and the office staff was great to follow up with me on what they could do for my cows + who to contact further. Great service & follow up, thank you Kim!
March 05 · Briana HartwigDoctor came out to my parent's house and did a physical on their horse. She was 34 yrs old and lived a great life. The unfortunate decision had to be made to put her down. The Dr. and assistance were wonderful. They took their time and explained the process, and gave my family time to say goodbye. Very professional and caring people.
November 28 · Larry FajardoWe are grateful. Incredibly grateful. The clinic staff responded quickly and professionally. The Veterinarians and support staff arrived quickly, were professional, knowledgeable , supportive, concise and reassuring. They did a through exam and did not rush treatment. The return visits and treatment were equally through and we felt reassured with their expert advice. We are resting easier knowing they have our animals best interest in heart and are just a phone call away if there is another emergency situation.
