Brown County Animal Clinic is known for several key features that set it apart in the local veterinary landscape. These highlights are a blend of their unique service offerings and the client experiences shared in public reviews.
- Urgent Care Availability: One of the most significant features is the offering of 24-hour urgent care, which is a critical service in a rural area where immediate help may be hard to find. It is important to note that a review indicates this may be a point of friction, as expectations for urgent care response may not always align with the clinic's capacity.
- Mobile Veterinary Service: The ability to bring a vet to the client's location is a huge benefit for large animal owners or those with pets that do not travel well.
- Exotic Animal Expertise: This is a specialized service that is not offered at every clinic, making it a valuable resource for owners of non-traditional pets.
- Holistic Care Options: Offering holistic care alongside conventional medicine provides pet owners with a wider range of treatment options to consider.
- Mixed Reviews: It's important to acknowledge both the positive and negative feedback. A positive review praises the staff for being "very helpful, respectful, professional" and for providing good care for spaying and neutering. Conversely, a negative review raises serious concerns about communication, diagnostic thoroughness, and the quality of emergency care, leading to a tragic outcome for a pet. This duality suggests that client experiences may vary significantly.

Choosing a veterinary clinic is a decision that requires careful thought, and for Texans in the Brown County area, Brown County Animal Clinic presents a unique set of pros and cons. The primary reason to consider this clinic is its wide-ranging service list, which includes valuable offerings not found at every practice. The availability of a mobile vet service is a huge convenience, and the expertise in exotic animal care is a niche that fills a significant need in the community. Furthermore, the clinic's advertised 24-hour urgent care is a critical lifeline for pet owners in an emergency. The positive review confirms that for routine procedures like spaying and neutering, the clinic provides professional and respectful service, leading to healthy and happy pets.
However, it is crucial to address the significant concerns raised in the negative review. The account of a pet's misdiagnosis, a lack of clear communication, and a delayed care plan highlights potential issues with the urgent care and follow-up process. The tragic outcome described is a serious warning for any prospective client, underscoring the importance of clear communication, detailed diagnostics, and a thorough care plan, especially in an emergency. This review suggests that while the clinic may be excellent for routine, planned services, owners with a pet in a critical condition should be prepared to be very proactive in demanding information and clarification on their pet's status and treatment. In conclusion, Brown County Animal Clinic offers a valuable range of services, but prospective clients should weigh the positive aspects against the documented challenges in communication and urgent care, and be prepared to advocate strongly for their pet's needs.

Very helpful, respectful, professional, at getting my dogs there paperwork to get them spayed and neutered. My fur babies are healthy and happy
August 29 · Dawn FarmerDo not go here! I had an emergency last Friday and my normal go to vet was booked. After calling 2 places this place had immediate openings (should have been my clue). I brought my dog in about 9 am on a Friday with symptoms of paralysis. Seen the vet less than 10 minutes & dog was given a shot for her spine acting up. He took the dog and said to call the next morning. The next day I called and nothing could be told about my dog. Said they were "treating her" and to call on Monday. I called on Monday afternoon and no information on what was happening and they would be doing x-rays (3days later). Got word on Tuesday she was "bit better" & that she would recover better at homeSo went to pick her up and the bill was almost $700 and after talking to the vet he assumed it was a spinal trauma. Got home with our pet who couldn't walk, control bowels or express bladder on her own. By Thursday her leg was swelling and she could not eat. She deteriated so bad in 1 day and had to be uthenized on Friday. After talking with another vet and research we found out she most likely had a stroke and would have not rljave recovered and should have been made aware of this. This dog suffered for a FULL WEEK! So sad. 😔
