August 28 · Nancy ReedI don’t know how to explain how lucky I am to use Dr. Laura McKinnon as our vet! She is so good with animals, she has an awesome connection not only with the animals but with us parents of our furry friends! She did surgery on my dog and was so attentive to her and my needs! She made me feel so calm in a scary situation! She takes her time and explains all she will do! If you are looking for an animal doctor, then Carolina Equine Clinic and Dr. McKinnon and her staff is who you need! And I drive from Irmo/Chapin to Aiken just to see her!!
August 28 · Natalie BrowderAbout our family dog;Horrible dog care! Surgery with too much anesthesia, gave no fluids for an older dog, (they should have), they did not give Benedryl prior to surgery for possible allergic reaction and no antibiotics given after surgery. My dog came home with a chest wound that wasn’t even part of the surgery! It was possibly a burn from the straps they said they used to tie her down. It became infected and puss filled. They did not help me about this.NO follow-up at all from the vet or the office, even when I called to express concern. If you love your dog, do NOT go here!
August 24 · Dasha SharpI’m going to stick to the facts here. 7/15/25 I brought my dog in for annual. Dr. McKinnon notices a lump on her hind leg that she believed looked like a mast cell tumor and another lump on her knee. Aspirated it then gave her all vaccines, including rabies. Pathology came back positive for MCT. Scheduled surgery for 7/28/25. After surgery, I went to clinic to pick my dog up and when I opened the front door, saw my dog laying chest down on the bare floor where all the foot traffic is. I immediately noticed swelling on her chest that continued to get worse. Dr. McKinnon only said “she must be having a reaction to something”. By Friday, I became incredibly concerned. Still Not drinking water, in a lot of pain and both wounds progressively getting worse by the day. I was informed (3 days post op) that Dr. McKinnon had left to go on vacation for a week and if I’m concerned, bring my dog to a different vet. I did and new vet said he was concerned that reaction on her chest was either trauma or a mast cell reaction. I asked Carolina clinic if they gave her a Benadryl injection, they said yes, but it was NOT listed in her medical records. Nor was an antibiotic injection, or fluids during surgery. A good friend of mine who happens to also be a vet looked over her medical records and was horrified at the amount of sedative drugs and anesthesia that was used. We are now 18 days post op and my dog has still not drank any water on her own. Has had to have necrotic skin cut away from her chest and her incision busted open. During this whole process, Carolina equine has not once called to check on my dog.
August 24 · Alexa TaralloWish I could give a below zero. Do NOT bring your dogs here. Horrible experience here with Dr Laura McKinnon. Please bring your beloved pets to anyone else. I strongly suggest Aiken vet clinic.
