Reviews highlight a legacy of compassionate care, with stories of a founding veterinarian who went to great lengths to save a cat's leg and treated animals with loving care for over two decades. This history of dedication and expertise is a testament to the hospital's commitment to its patients. While a recent review mentioned some temporary staff changes and a few communication issues, these are often part of a transitional period. The long-standing positive history and the profound gratitude from long-term clients suggest that the core values of the practice remain strong. For Florida cat owners seeking a veterinary clinic that not only understands the medical complexities of cats but also truly cares about their emotional well-being, the Cat Hospital At Palm Harbor is a worthy choice. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Unfortunately this practice has completely changed. I absolutely adored and respected the original veterinarian and owner, Dr. Robert (Bob) Marrazzo, who has retired. Practice is $$$, but it was worth every penny.Dr. Bob treated my two cats lovingly from 2014 until they passed away at 19 amd 20. His "bedside manner" was unmatched, in my experience. I credited him partially with their longevity. I admit he is a hard act to follow! His daughter took over his practice temporarily but is on leave. She was quite adept but not with the years of experience, which I was willing to accept. My trust level has declined greatly with the absence of these two. Since I have a new cat, Dr. Bob saw that cat once before he retired and I only need to bring the cat in for a wellness check. But when I called with an emergency the other night, the phone message was confusing; they offered me some choices and the ability to auto-connect me, which I chose, with a Brandon, Florida facility that is over an hour away, instead of the local one for emergency care when I live (as most clients do I suppose) close to their practice. The next choice was to speak to a representative but of course they were closed and I wasn't even sure that that was a non-emergency connection. When I called the next time they were open to report his condition, the person who responded appeared rather indifferent and I'm not sure they even made a note. Since his condition was quite serious, I am surprised that they have not called me back to check in.The website is not completely updated with personnel, and I do not know whether the new veterinarian is a fully qualified surgeon or an internist, despite the listing of her respected qualifications. All in all, since I do not have another reliable veterinarian, I will take my cat there for the wellness check and County-required rabies shot, but I will be looking elsewhere both due to the expense and the unfamiliarity. This may sound overly fussy, but I worked for years for a superb veterinarian who was also a Tufts graduate, so I believe I know what I'm looking for in a veterinarian. Hopefully, things will get better and I will be able to amend this review.
April 25 · Victoria CI’ve been a very beyond pleased client/becoming a friend to all staff at the Cat Hospital of PH, since 1996, to the present of 2024. I moved here from Illinois, in 1996, very grateful to find these beautiful souls who have thankfully found their passions, to become vet techs&veterinarians. (I’ve always rescued my feline angels from various situations, including shelters, cat colonies, and literally off the streets…you name it….every one was welcomed with open arms by all staff including Dr Bob Marrazzo, who established this caring retreat, followed by his caring daughter, Dr Kimberly Marrazzo, and when neither were available to attend due to having to adult, recruiting sub vets who are as invested as they are.) I’ve had at least 10 beautiful feline souls, since my move to FL in the 90’s, all cared for, by them, throughout their lives, from day one of rescue…to their last day💔. All of the staff involved did everything they could to give my angels their life which they very happily lived. I’m forever grateful to this practice established by Dr Bob Marrazzo. (I presently, unbelievably, have only one furry left, who is a feline, out of a furry 💝crew of 7, which included an irreplaceable soul of a 70 pound dog, Lovely Leia, who loved those kitties as much as I did. She’s gone as of 7/16/24, due to sudden blood cancer; her loss has been indescribable.) It’s beyond surreal, daily, that it’s only myself and my Snowshoe.Yet, I am so thankful she’s still here with me. I rescued her out of a colony, in 2009, as a 4 month old kitten, who had a deformed/broken leg. But, she’s still here after 15 years, because Dr Bob Marrazzo cared enough to come up with a unique plan to save her leg. To sum up…Snowshoe and I are very thankful to be here, with each other, today, always grateful to The Cat Hospital family of PH for taking care of her, and my furry family since the 90’s.
