Dayton Animal Clinic, LLC Reviews
I am changing my opinion from 3 stars to 5 because of the new vet that is now at the clinic. I took my boy back to get the physical that I had paid for but he didn't receive. I opted to see the new vet as Dr Carter was already afraid of my pup and said I would have to muzzle him to be examined.I must say the new vet is wonderful! She was very patient with my boy who is nervous around new people. She gave him a thorough exam. She and her assistant were both so sweet and took the time to let my boy settle in and went above and beyond to help him feel safe and have a positive experience. I will definitely be continuing to take my fur babies here to see her.I am torn on how I feel about Dayton animal clinic as I had my very sick senior mastiff in last week, as a new client. She was treated wonderful and they worked her into the schedule for surgery the next morning. A few days later she opened her incision and they worked her in right away to get her taken care of and get her closed back up.I was very happy with the care of her that I scheduled an appointment for my 9 month old bullmastiff pup for a checkup and a rabies shot. He was treated completely different! The vet acted as if he was scared of my pup. He requested that I hold his head for the vet to give him the shot. He gave my pup the shot and listed to his heart and that was it. He didn't check his ears, eyes or anything else so not sure why I was charged for an exam when he didn't receive an actual exam? Then we were told to wait in the room. They made us pay and all while still in the exam room and then made us leave out the back door. When I asked why we couldn't pay at the desk and leave out the front door I was told that if he were to bite someone or another pet that the office would be liable. My pup is scared of strangers but did Not nor has he ever shown any aggression towards any person or animal ever! I told them that we had just came from several stores, that we visit almost weekly, and yes he is a chicken but he is not aggressive around people or animals but they still insisted that we must leave out the back. He was fine and sat very well behaved in the waiting room, even with another dog and child running around, while we were waitingto be seen.I will definitely be taking my pup elsewhere and now have to pay for another exam because he wasn't given a full one here. Not sure if I'll keep my senior girl here or not yet. Guess I'll have to think on it and see how her visit goes in a few weeks to get her staples out.The first picture is my senior girl. Second picture is my pup. Both were taken in the waiting room at the vet clinic.Third picture is them together at home for size comparison.
Jan 17, 2025 · Ann SGreat to work with. The staff are friendly. My dogs and cats have received great care at the Dayton Animal Clinic. I currently take my dog to them and feel he is in good hands.
May 03, 2025 · Pamela MillerThey take great care of my dog, Bella! Surgery a few years ago and now thru her last days before she goes back to heaven, I can't ask for a more caring veterinarian or staff to help me through. I believe this staff gave me the additional years with my dog. Can't recommend this place enough.
Mar 22, 2024 · Kim JohnsonIt's a Wonderful Animal Clinic I have Heard with a very Caring Huge Hearted Veterinarian named Dr. Carter. My Sister brings her dog out here. He isn't Expensive like many Harrisonburg, Virginia Veterinarians are .. GOD Bless You Dr. Carter.
Nov 02, 2021 · Elizabeth GreenOnly go to this place if you plan to only see Dr Herr. I absolutely love her and cannot say enough good things about her (and the front desk staff as well, they're incredible.) However, Dr Herr is only there part time ... for the love DO NOT let your furbaby see the other vet. We finally switched and glad we did so. I'm sure he's a good man but an awful vet. He hardly interacted with my dog at all which made him very nervous and didn't care to look at any other medication options to better control his epilepsy, but much more than that:-when my Mom's small dog got attacked by another dog and had a 5 inch long tear in it's abdomen, he treated all of her other injuries and told my Mom to just take her home and keep her comfortable even though she had a literal hole in her abdomen (it had to heal from the inside out.) My mom decided to take her to the emergency vet in Verona to be kept overnight and they told her that if my Mom had taken her home like the vet had suggested, her dog would have died. Even in subsequent visits his care of her many dog bite wounds were substandard and his at-home care directions inadequate.-my coworker who had her dog there also said that for months he was encouraging her to just put the dog down even though both her and the dog knew that the dog wasn't ready. Then when it did come time, my coworker said that his bedside manner was awful, he couldn't get the needle in, the dog the screaming, it was a very traumatic experience for her.DO not take your animals to Dr Carter. He should not be practicing as a vet.
