Dermatology for Animals - Rochester Reviews
Unprofessional emotional outburst -We recently visited Dr. Griffith (Dermatology for Animals – Rochester) for our 20-month-old Rottweiler, and the experience was deeply disappointing from the moment he walked into the room. His behavior was loud, emotional, and shockingly unprofessional. After a tech brought our dog back to us, Dr. Griffith entered, and my dog barked once—totally normal given the circumstances. I tried to show my dog who it was, and Dr. Griffith immediately yelled, “Get him away from me, I want to keep my hands.” He then said, “He’s a bad dog, and I don’t know if he’ll ever be allowed here again.” These comments were appalling and completely uncalled for.Despite this, I stayed calm in attempt to deescalate. I had already explained prior to that he’ll grumble or make noise when uncomfortable, but he is not aggressive. I even offered to accompany him to help keep him calm, or for them to use a muzzle if they preferred—but was told it was against policy for owners to be present. Dr. Griffith claimed he could handle it, yet it was clear he could not.In the end, the doctor wasn’t even able to complete the exam and said our dog would need to be sedated for a full ear check next time. For the price we paid, I expected a thorough and professional evaluation. While Dr. Griffith may be knowledgeable, his inability to work with a well-socialized large breed—coupled with his unprofessional behavior—was unacceptable. If you have a large dog or a breed that is often unfairly judged, I strongly recommend finding a specialist who is not only experienced but also respectful, professional, and compassionate.
Apr 07, 2025 · JasonAt first, it was my experience to benefit from Dr Griffiths knowledge and experience, and Amanda was very caring. But, when I had intelligent questions regarding my dog's continued symptoms following 6 weeks of antibiotics (2 visits, $1,200 later) I never heard back from the Dr and no one ever called to ask how my pet was doing. Instead a front desk person wrote in Email: ... your dog is incurable... And a second person simply wrote: "...the sores are from licking and biting". It is just my impression instead of answering my medical questions like a professional, they had their AZ office send me a letter stating I am "rude" and "discourteous". Don't get me wrong, the 'real' Drs here are costly but great and seem very knowledgeable!
Jan 27, 2025 · OttoAfter months of regular Vet appt's and emergency Vet appt's and spending thousands of dollars, I was recommended to come here for my dogs Chronic itching that no one could help with seeing she was a puppy and everyone stating she's too young for meds. Pricing is high as expected for a "specialist" but no cost compares to my dogs well being and looking for answers for her to have a normal quality of life. Her itching is so Chronic that is became a job than being able to enjoy her as a puppy. Dr. Griffith was very straight forward which is what I like and reassuring with her diagnosis thus far. My Darla (french bulldog) is thriving, happier and has no skin issues at this time. I am beyond grateful we have a specialist locally for skin and allergy issues.
Mar 06, 2025 · Melissa PrattDon't trust what they tell you over the phone if you're curious about costs. Very dishonest & unethical ......receptionists will blatantly lie about costs just to get you in the door. Then the invoice comes and it is 4x what was previously quoted on the phone. I confronted them about it and the receptionists tells me I'm lying. Was told on phone to expect a "Total" of $200-$300 for the appointment (a range of costs based on what is going on with my dog). I was very clear that costs were going to be my deciding factor, and I was ensured it would only be $200-$300 for my visit.. Invoice comes and it is over $1k, they then argue with me saying they never quoted me that price and the initial visit is what costs $200-$300.... so there's a range for the initial visit? Makes zero sense and an easy cover for lying, initial visit was $330 and had zero tests done, just conversation n routine look over of my pup. Only reason we accepted the appointment was based on the range of costs quoted and would have never scheduled the appointment before Christmas had the receptionist been honest and said "It's really going to cost you 4x what we initially told you" or said "it will cost you $300 for the initial visit....then there will be additional costs for x, y, or z depending on what is going on." Extremely dishonest. Essentially paid $330 to be manipulated into driving an hour n half in crap weather to be lied to. Go somewhere else.
