Although I don't know anything about computers, why my reviews disappear is beyond my knowledge. But I know I had said a while back that Dr Robb was just another reason that gave me more information about how I should and should not be vaccinating with our meaningful best friends and companion animals, in my case, a female Golden Retrievers now at 12 years old, she's doing pretty darn good despite her possible arthritis especially with her knees rear legs, has difficulty and pain as I decline veterinary anti inflammatory drugs from our veterinarian, but eventually I might have to give in to it. Dr John Robbs I wished we had a veterinarian like you I know Dr Robb had always been a strong advocate against over vaccinating with our dogs as his videos that isn't where I had seen it had expired for some reason. After watching a video in a courtroom with a judge, he is amazingly very intelligent. Thanks for everything having to do with veterinary care that had helped me to make better decisions with Brandy! Dr. Robb's Protect The Pets Introduce

For pet owners across Connecticut, navigating the complexities of modern veterinary care often involves making informed decisions about everything from diet to vaccinations. In Newtown, a unique and highly regarded resource for discerning pet parents is Dr. Robb's Protect The Pets. This practice, led by the experienced and outspoken Dr. John Robb DVM, is more than just a typical veterinary clinic; it's a movement dedicated to challenging conventional wisdom, particularly concerning pet vaccinations, and empowering owners with the knowledge to make the best health choices for their beloved companions. Dr. Robb's philosophy centers on a deep commitment to animal welfare, advocating for a thoughtful and individualized approach to preventative care, ensuring that every decision genuinely benefits the pet's long-term health.

Dr. John Robb's extensive background in veterinary medicine is impressive. After graduating from the University of California at Davis with his DVM in 1985, he has dedicated his career to improving animal health. He has owned and operated several veterinary facilities, including purchasing New Fairfield Veterinary Hospital (renaming it Robb Animal Care Center) and Farmington Valley Emergency Hospital in Avon. His experiences, including a period owning a Banfield Pet Hospital franchise, led him to recognize potential conflicts between corporate interests and optimal animal care. This realization spurred him to establish the "Protect The Pets" movement in 2006, advocating for a shift in veterinary practices that prioritizes the pet's well-being above all else. This includes a strong stance against over-vaccination, promoting the use of antibody titers to assess immunity, and a general philosophy of thoughtful, less-is-more intervention when appropriate.

What truly sets Dr. Robb's practice apart, as highlighted by numerous client testimonials, is his profound intelligence and unwavering passion for animal health. Clients consistently praise his willingness to take the time to listen, understand individual pet needs, and provide detailed information that helps them make informed decisions. Many express a strong desire for more veterinarians to adopt his philosophy, particularly regarding vaccination protocols. This resonates deeply with pet owners who are seeking a more personalized approach to their animal's healthcare, one that emphasizes long-term wellness and minimizes unnecessary medical interventions. For those in Connecticut who are looking for a vet who is not only knowledgeable but also a strong advocate for their pet's best interests, Dr. Robb's Protect The Pets offers a unique and highly valued perspective.

Dr. Robb's Protect The Pets is conveniently located at 98 S Main St, Newtown, CT 06470, USA. This central Newtown address makes the clinic easily accessible for residents within Newtown itself, as well as those in neighboring communities across Fairfield County and beyond in Connecticut. South Main Street is a well-trafficked thoroughfare, ensuring straightforward navigation to the clinic for both routine appointments and more urgent needs.

Accessibility is a crucial factor for pet owners, and the Newtown location offers considerable convenience. Being situated on a main road means that directions are simple, and the clinic is easy to find. While specific parking information isn't always readily available for every business, being on a main street in a town like Newtown generally suggests that suitable parking options are either on-site or nearby, facilitating a smooth arrival and departure for pet owners and their animals. This ease of access reduces potential stress associated with veterinary visits, especially for pets who may already be feeling anxious or unwell.

Newtown's position within Connecticut also makes Dr. Robb's practice a viable option for those traveling from slightly further afield in the state, for example, from Danbury, Bethel, or Brookfield, for a veterinarian who aligns with their specific philosophy of care. The commitment to providing personalized attention and a distinct approach to pet wellness makes the journey worthwhile for many pet parents seeking a particular type of veterinary support. The clinic's local presence also allows it to be a more integrated part of the community, fostering stronger relationships with pet owners who value a local, independent veterinarian dedicated to their pet's long-term health.

Based on the information available and client testimonials, Dr. Robb's Protect The Pets offers veterinary care with a distinct philosophy, particularly regarding vaccination. While a full, exhaustive list of every medical service provided is best confirmed directly with the clinic, their offerings likely encompass a range of essential veterinary services, with a strong emphasis on informed decision-making and pet advocacy. Key services and areas of focus include:

  • Wellness Examinations: Comprehensive check-ups tailored to the individual needs of the pet, focusing on overall health and early detection of potential issues.
  • Personalized Vaccination Protocols: A key highlight of Dr. Robb's practice is his advocacy against over-vaccination. This means he likely offers tailored vaccination schedules based on a pet's lifestyle, risk factors, and potentially uses titers (blood tests to measure existing antibody levels) to determine if re-vaccination is truly necessary. This aims to reduce the frequency of vaccinations to only what is medically required.
  • Nutritional Counseling: Guidance on appropriate diets and nutritional supplements to support a pet's health, manage conditions, or aid in recovery, as highlighted by a customer's appreciation for information about managing arthritis.
  • Pain Management Discussions: While specific treatments would be determined individually, Dr. Robb is noted for discussing options for pain, such as for a Golden Retriever with arthritis, indicating a willingness to explore various approaches, including potentially non-pharmaceutical options or thoughtful consideration of conventional medications.
  • Diagnostic Capabilities: As a functioning veterinary clinic, they would typically offer essential diagnostic tools, such as in-house lab work (blood tests) to assess organ function and detect underlying conditions.
  • Advocacy and Education: A significant "service" is the educational component, where Dr. Robb empowers pet owners with information and encourages them to make educated decisions about their pet's care, particularly concerning vaccination and overall wellness strategies.

Dr. Robb's Protect The Pets stands out in the Connecticut veterinary landscape due to several unique features and highlights:

  • Advocacy Against Over-Vaccination: This is a cornerstone of Dr. Robb's philosophy. He is a strong proponent of using vaccine titers to assess existing immunity and avoiding unnecessary re-vaccinations, which he believes can harm pets. This approach appeals greatly to owners concerned about vaccine adverse reactions.
  • Client Education and Empowerment: Dr. Robb is highly praised for taking the time to educate pet owners, providing them with detailed information to make informed decisions about their pets' health. This empowers owners to be active participants in their pet's care.
  • Compassionate and Attentive Care: Reviews consistently highlight Dr. Robb's compassionate demeanor. He is noted for taking his time with pets and their owners, listening attentively, and demonstrating genuine care for the animals.
  • Intelligent and Knowledgeable Approach: Clients frequently describe Dr. Robb as highly intelligent and passionate about his work. His deep understanding of veterinary medicine, combined with his willingness to challenge norms, provides a unique and valuable perspective.
  • Focus on Pet-First Philosophy: Dr. Robb's career has been marked by an unwavering commitment to prioritizing the pet's health over profits, even in the face of industry pressures. This ethos ensures that medical decisions are always in the best interest of the animal.
  • Holistic and Thoughtful Discussions: While specific "holistic" services aren't detailed, the discussions around vaccination alternatives and managing conditions like arthritis with careful consideration of medication suggest a broader, more integrated approach to pet wellness.
