Emergency Veterinary Services of Lisle Reviews

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1This is a long overdue review of my experience with the amazing veterinary staff here. In September, my cat Luna experienced a medical emergency resulting in a need to have to make the decision to put her to sleep. She had been experiencing some health issues for a few months prior that were being managed by her regular vet when the situation turned dire one morning and a rush to the emergency vet had to be made. Our regular vet at Elmhurst Animal Care Center called ahead to let the staff here know of the situation. They welcomed my husband and our cat Luna, with open, compassionate arms. They waited until I could arrive from work in Chicago before any decisions were made. We never felt rushed or like a burden. The vet on staff that day, Dr. Heather, went over all of the information as many times as we needed to process. The tech that day, Jenny, sat with us and comforted us while we made the hardest decision we’ve ever had to make. They were compassionate and we could feel that they were loving, caring people. I think we all cried on the floor that day. The euthanasia procedure was explained clearly and Dr. Heather was kind and gentle with Luna and with us. We were allowed all the time we needed. They offered cremation and memorial packages. It’s hard to grasp after such a difficult day but it’s so appreciated. Jenny explained this all so well and she was great comfort to us during this very difficult time. An emergency euthanasia is HARD and emotional but the grace, class, care and empathy of the staff here is exactly what you need on a day like that. Thank you all, truly.
November 28 · Krystle PyrzynskiThe hardest decisions to make this day… but they were so wonderful! Im so thankful for the compassion you had for my dog and us. The honesty truly helped lead us during this difficult time. I would highly recommend.
April 19 · Michelle GallagaFirst, let me day i never take the time to write up a review. But i had to...I had an emergency with my pup 4th of July weekend... & only they were open. They were fantastic! Jenifer at the desk was kind, nice and explained everything well. Dr. Amy Smith was wonderful!! She took care of my dog, then went the extra mile , said tell me about whats going on with her. Asked, had this happened before, told me things to do to help so that it won't happen again... wow! I couldn't of been more impressed. I wish they were regular vet. I'd take all my dogs they're in a minute. Thank you for the great care of my girl and for going above and beyond with the tips and advice... thanks for working on a holiday weekend. 5 stars ladies! Thank you!
July 06 · Christina LupoWe had to rush our beagle in to the ER late on a Saturday night in mid-July. Dr. Graves and her team were able to diagnose the issue. They were calm and reassuring in a moment of extreme duress for the beagle and her people. When trying to diagnose, they asked us appropriate questions, and then performed appropriate diagnostic tests. They made sure we were aware of any tests they were performing, in addition to the costs of each test. She was successfully diagnosed and provided with necessary meds, that held her over for the rest of the weekend, until we were able to see a specialist on Monday. We will be forever grateful for the care our beagle received .
August 05 · Sandra VavraI want to preface this review with the fact that I myself am a veterinarian and have worked in emergency medicine for the better part of 12 years. I never dreamed that I would have such a negative interaction with a colleague as to warrant a review, but here we are.My family moved to Illinois this weekend and our beloved Chihuahua was killed tragically the first day we were here. As I didn't know anyone here yet, I called this ER to see if they could help arrange cremation. The receptionist was completely uncaring on the phone and never once expressed sympathy for our loss. This should have been my first sign. My father brought my dog to them at I was in no shape to drive. After getting home and reviewing the bill, I was shocked and horrified to see that I was charged a $190 "emergency fee" on top of the cremation and paw print charges. I was further horrified to see that the receipt had my personal information, but listed my dog as "Gilbert". My dog was a female with a W name. The paw prints they did were messy and covered in mud, a painful reminder of my girl's final struggle.I immediately called back and the receptionist again was completely uncaring. She said their emergency fee was for them "being open" even though no exam nor consultation was ever performed. I also was not allowed to speak to any kind of supervisor and told someone might call me back in 48 hours. I told them this was completely unacceptable and that I would be down immediately to collect my dog's body as I had no confidence that I would be receiving the remains for the correct pet. They released her remains to me with a terse "sorry for your loss" and we immediately brought her to VEG where we were comforted and treated with humanity. Not once did I receive an explanation or apology for how my dog's information was totally wrong and nearly irreversibly cremated with no proof of who was right. In all of the years and clinics that I have worked in, I have never seen a client charged an emergency fee for a deceased pet. It was disheartening and cruel to be treated with indifference and greed in our moment of grief. If they would treat a colleague this way, I truly hate to think of how they would treat the general public.I have since called several surrounding clinics to check their policies. Not a single one said they charge an ER fee for DOA patients and every one expressed sympathy for my loss. Do better.
