For pet owners in Maryland seeking specialized veterinary eye care, the location and accessibility of a clinic are crucial. Eye Care for Animals - York Rd is conveniently situated at 10626 York Rd Suite C-L, Cockeysville, MD 21030, USA. This address places it directly on York Road, a major thoroughfare in Baltimore County, making it highly accessible for residents not only within Cockeysville but also from surrounding communities like Timonium, Hunt Valley, Towson, and the wider Baltimore metropolitan area.
York Road (Route 45) provides a direct and well-trafficked route, ensuring that the clinic is generally easy to find. Its location in a commercial suite, however, comes with a specific accessibility note from a customer: "The gps took me to the back of the building, so if you go, make sure you go to the front, where they have a blue awning." This helpful tip ensures that first-time visitors can easily locate the correct entrance, avoiding unnecessary stress.
Another important point regarding accessibility is their shared office space: "The only thing to mention is that I was confused at first because they share an office with the emergency vet." While this might initially cause some confusion, it also implies a potential for coordinated care in certain situations, though Eye Care for Animals operates as a distinct specialist clinic. Despite the initial navigation quirks, the clinic's presence on a main road in a prominent area of Baltimore County makes it a practical and reachable destination for Maryland pet owners seeking specialized ophthalmology services.
Eye Care for Animals - York Rd is a specialized veterinary ophthalmology clinic, meaning their services are exclusively focused on the diagnosis, treatment, and management of eye conditions in animals. Their expertise and equipment are tailored specifically for ocular health, offering a comprehensive range of specialized services that a general veterinary practice might not provide. Their services typically include:
- Comprehensive Ophthalmic Examinations: Detailed eye examinations using specialized equipment to assess all parts of the eye, including the eyelids, conjunctiva, cornea, iris, lens, and retina. This can involve slit lamp biomicroscopy, indirect ophthalmoscopy, and tonometry (intraocular pressure measurement).
- Diagnosis and Treatment of Eye Diseases: Expert diagnosis and medical management of a wide array of eye conditions, such as:
- Glaucoma
- Cataracts (including pre-surgical evaluations)
- Corneal ulcers and injuries
- Uveitis
- Dry eye (Keratoconjunctivitis Sicca - KCS)
- Conjunctivitis
- Eyelid abnormalities (e.g., entropion, ectropion, cherry eye)
- Retinal diseases
- Ocular tumors
- Ophthalmic Surgery: Performing delicate eye surgeries with precision and expertise. This can include:
- Cataract surgery (phacoemulsification)
- Eyelid reconstructive surgery
- Corneal grafting
- Glaucoma surgery
- Cherry eye repair
- Enucleation (eye removal, when necessary)
- Electrophysiology (ERG): Advanced testing, such as electroretinography, to assess retinal function, particularly useful in diagnosing certain inherited retinal degenerations.
- Ocular Ultrasound: High-resolution ultrasound imaging of the eye and orbit, providing detailed views of structures not visible during a standard ophthalmic exam, especially useful when the cornea or lens is opaque.
- Genetic Eye Disease Screening: For certain breeds, providing examinations for inherited eye conditions and certification (e.g., through OFA CAER exams).
- Pre-Referral Consultations: Working closely with referring veterinarians to provide specialized opinions and treatment plans for complex or persistent eye problems.
- Medical Management of Chronic Conditions: Long-term management and monitoring of chronic eye diseases, aiming to preserve vision and maintain the pet's comfort.
As a specialist clinic, they focus solely on eye care, which means they would not typically provide general veterinary services like vaccinations, general wellness exams, or routine spays/neuters. For comprehensive pet care, they work in conjunction with your primary veterinarian.
Eye Care for Animals - York Rd stands out as a top-tier veterinary ophthalmology clinic in Maryland, distinguished by several key features and highlights that are consistently praised by their clients.

The team's success in dealing with a "dog's anxiety very well" and taking "their time" demonstrates a patient-first philosophy that prioritizes the pet's comfort.
- Fair Pricing for Specialists: Despite being a specialist clinic, clients feel that "while expensive, I don't feel that they overcharge just because they are specialists." This perception of fair value for highly specialized services is a significant positive, as pet owners are often concerned about the cost of advanced veterinary care.
- Accurate and Reassuring Diagnoses: The specific example of a "possible cherry eye negative diagnosis" that brought "much relief after going there!" underscores their diagnostic accuracy. Getting a precise and well-explained diagnosis, whether positive or negative, provides clarity and helps owners move forward with appropriate care or reassurance.
- Calming Environment (within specialized context): While the shared entrance with an emergency vet can cause initial confusion, the overall experience within the Eye Care for Animals clinic itself seems calm and focused, allowing for the gentle and thorough examinations mentioned by clients.

Apr 07, 2025 · Tiffany FickesIt was a great experience. The tech took us early before our appointment time. The tech and doctor were kind and caring. They explained everything in detail. The facilities were extremely clean. The process to check out was very easy as well.
Jan 13, 2025 · Tiffany RigatusoIf I could give this place a 10, I would. I called this office at least three times the day of my emergency. I was hoping and praying to get my 5yr old Maltese to be seen that day. My baby could not keep her eyes open and was in a lot of pain. The vet couldn't help us so the next best thing was an Ophthalmologist. I drove 45mins to get to this office. Once I arrived, I was able to meet the voice behind the phone from earlier that day. She was very professional, friendly and empathic in person just as she was on the phone. That would be Ms. Siena! Not to mention the dedication and professionalism from Dr. Lisankis and his assistant Erin. The entire office staff were all GREAT! I am so happy to have found this Eye Care Center for my baby. No disappointments!
Feb 29, 2024 · DePree' HughThe receptionist is always attentive and friendly. The technicians treat my dog like their own. My dog loves going there and so do we. It’s great to see doctors for my fur baby and know that they treat him well.
