- Diagnostic Services: Utilizing both in-house and external laboratory services, they perform a range of diagnostic tests including blood work, urinalysis, and fecal exams for accurate and timely diagnoses.

Based on customer reviews, Tender Heart Vet Care PC exhibits several key features and highlights, though it is important to consider all feedback.
- Compassionate and Kind Staff: Multiple reviews consistently praise the team for being "very nice," "wonderful," and "caring." Phrases like "Every encounter with each person regardless of position has been so wonderful" and "They definitely enjoyed meeting and getting to know our dog as her own being, not simply another dog" indicate a generally positive and empathetic staff demeanor.
- Good Communication on Procedures and Costs: One highly positive review highlights that "The information was clearly presented, cost, procedure, purpose, options, benefits. I never felt like I was being sold something. During her procedure, the communication was great. They asked before adding anything, explaining why it was recommended." This suggests transparency and a focus on informed client consent.
- Clean and Welcoming Facility: The office environment is described as "clean, smelled fresh," which contributes to a comfortable experience for pets and owners.
- Post-Procedure Monitoring: A reviewer specifically mentioned their pet "was well monitored, not left alone to recover," indicating attentive post-operative care.
- Payment Options and Caring Approach: The clinic is noted for having "payment options and a caring staff," suggesting they work with clients on financial aspects of care and maintain a supportive attitude.
However, it's crucial to acknowledge a highly concerning review:
- Diagnostic Oversight Leading to Severe Consequences: One detailed review describes a failure to perform a "basic diagnostic test" (X-ray) despite the owner explicitly suggesting their dog might have ingested patio stones. This led to a misdiagnosis of pancreatitis, unnecessary suffering for days, and ultimately, the pet's passing due to a "belly full of rocks" confirmed by an emergency vet. This particular incident raises serious questions about diagnostic thoroughness, listening to owner concerns, and potentially, the standard of care for critical cases. The reviewer emphasized, "Follow your instincts. If they tell you you’re doing the right thing, then may the odds be ever in your favor. I hope your story turns out better than ours," reflecting profound dissatisfaction and regret.
- Questionable Information/Instincts: The same review mentioned "a number of times, however, where we second guessed whether or not the information we were given made any sense whatsoever," indicating a pattern of concern regarding the reliability of advice or diagnoses prior to the final tragic event.
- Perception of Cost vs. Quality: While one review suggests they might be "the cheapest place around," it is followed by the strong caveat "but there’s a reason for that, folks," implying that lower costs might correlate with a compromise in care quality in some instances.

These positive aspects highlight a clinic that strives for compassionate interaction with pets and their owners.
However, the very serious and detailed negative review regarding a missed diagnosis leading to tragic consequences for a pet named Daisy, despite the owner's explicit concerns, cannot be overlooked. This feedback raises critical questions about diagnostic thoroughness in some instances and the importance of professional judgment, even when owner instincts suggest further investigation. For locals in Massachusetts considering Tender Heart Vet Care PC, it is crucial to balance the positive experiences of many with this profound cautionary tale. Prospective clients should feel empowered to ask thorough questions, ensure their concerns are fully addressed, and feel confident in the diagnostic protocols in place, particularly if their instincts suggest a deeper issue. Ultimately, choosing a veterinary provider is a deeply personal decision, and while Tender Heart Vet Care PC offers accessible services with a compassionate team, prospective clients should perform their own due diligence, keeping all reported experiences in mind, to ensure it aligns with their expectations for their beloved pet's care.

Tender Heart Vet Care PC Reviews
Over the years we’ve wondered if we were getting the right care for our pup here. After we switched to Tender Heart, her health took a pretty quick turn for the worse and it all culminated in what i’m about to explain.I’ll start by saying that we’ve never been treated unkindly by anyone at the office. Everyone is very nice. There were a number of times, however, where we second guessed whether or not the information we were given made any sense whatsoever, though, and we should have followed our instincts.Last week we took our precious pup in because she had eaten some grease from under the grill on the patio and was vomiting. We told them - explicitly - that we thought she might have eaten some of the patio stones. We left her there for a bit and returned when they called us to let us know that she was good to go.The doctors orders: pain meds and low fat diet to help her recover from what they concluded was pancreatitis. When we asked if they had done an X-ray to check for rocks, they said that they had not because they didn’t believe that she had eaten any.Fast forward two days to Memorial Day weekend, when we had to bring her to the ER because she was not improving. When we explained the events leading up to us coming to the ER the doctor immediately ordered an X-ray, calling it “basic diagnostics given the information”, and found a belly full of rocks. For days our poor Daisy anguished in pain because these folks couldn’t be bothered to perform a basic diagnostic test. Painless to the pet, but capable of giving clear insights to those of us who are interested in knowing things rather than guessing.Just days after we brought our sick pup here to Tender Heart, she passed away, leaving us with a gaping hole and the dissatisfaction of knowing that she suffered those last few days. All of our instincts over the last few years were right. We should not have continued coming here when we had so many questions about the care we were receiving. They might be the cheapest place around, but there’s a reason for that, folks.Follow your instincts. If they tell you you’re doing the right thing, then may the odds be ever in your favor. I hope your story turns out better than ours.
May 27, 2025 · Matthew HudsonEvery encounter with each person regardless of position has been so wonderful. They took great care of our pup, and also of me with my questions and nervous concerns. They definitely enjoyed meeting and getting to know our dog as her own being, not simply another dog and I’m certain that’s how they treat every soul. The information was clearly presented, cost, procedure, purpose, options, benefits. I never felt like I was being sold something. The offices were clean, smelled fresh. During her procedure, the communication was great. They asked before adding anything, explaining why it was recommended. She was well monitored, not left alone to recover. If you feel the prices are high, please look at the itemized quote and notice that it is also the cost of the materials, meds, everything going up, not necessarily being nickeled and dimed. There are payment options and a caring staff. Everyone is doing their best. These folks are. I’m glad for their experience and loving, gentle up to date practices. Some pics of our happy, recovering girl in her safety space! Thank you!
Aug 28, 2023 · Liberata SinclairWe have had Tender Hearts as our vet for many years. They have always been very accommodating and truly care about our pup & cat. When My cat Ollie needed to be spayed I was a nervous wreck! They went above and beyond by calling me more often then they normally would to give me updates on his status. They even let him recover I. The front reception area instead of back with the other cats/dogs because I told them Ollie had extreme anxiety when around other animals. They have also been great with my 5 year old lab that has bad allergies. If you are looking for a place that cares for your pets the same way that you do, this is the place to go.
Jan 28, 2020 · Allison ScottMy dog had a dental procedure at this practice, and a day and a half later spent the night throwing up and eventually threw up a piece of gauze. The vet refused to take any accountability and insisted that he must have ingested the gauze after leaving the practice. I don’t even own any gauze and we only do short supervised leash walks. She also refused to consider a partial refund for the procedure. Do not recommend. Particularly for anything surgical due to the unnecessary risk my dog was placed in, by leaving a piece of gauze in his mouth for him to swallow in recovery where it easily could have occluded his airway.
Aug 25, 2022 · Katherine DrouinI have been using Tender Heart for my two cats for the last three years. All of the staff at Tender Heart are warm, friendly, knowledgeable and caring. Never have I felt they were rushing me, always listening to my concerns and answering my questions. I would highly recommend Tender Heart for all of your pet care needs.
