Dental Extractions: Surgical extractions of diseased, fractured, or problematic teeth, including complex extractions with bone removal and flap techniques, ensuring complete removal and proper closure.
Oral Tumor Diagnosis and Treatment: Biopsies, staging, and surgical removal of benign and malignant growths in the mouth, often involving advanced reconstructive techniques, as experienced by Bentley's owners.
Fractured Tooth Repair: Root canal therapy or vital pulpotomy for fractured teeth to preserve the tooth and alleviate pain.

Gulf South Veterinary Dental Specialties stands out due to several key features and highlights, reflecting their dedication to specialized pet dental care:
Board-Certified Expertise: The clinic is led by Dr. Ribka, a highly qualified and experienced veterinary dental specialist. Board certification signifies extensive advanced training, rigorous examination, and a profound depth of knowledge specifically in veterinary dentistry and oral surgery. This level of expertise is rare and crucial for complex cases. As one client mentioned, they felt "lucky to be recommended to GS dental because I don’t know if anyone else would have been able to help, since this was a rare situation."
Specialized Equipment and Facilities: Unlike general veterinary practices, a dedicated dental specialty clinic possesses state-of-the-art dental radiography equipment (intraoral X-rays), specialized surgical instruments, and anesthetic monitoring specific to advanced oral procedures. This specialized setup allows for precise diagnosis and execution of complex treatments.
Comprehensive Oral Assessment Under Anesthesia: All thorough dental procedures are performed under general anesthesia, allowing for a complete and pain-free examination of the entire mouth, including probing below the gumline and taking full-mouth X-rays, which are essential for identifying hidden problems.
Compassionate and Informative Approach: Reviews consistently highlight the caring nature of Dr. Ribka and her staff. Clients feel "treated with respect" and that the doctor "was treating one of her own dogs." This empathy, combined with clear and honest communication, helps pet owners feel "extremely informed from start to finish," even when facing serious diagnoses like cancer.
Ability to Handle Rare and Complex Cases: The clinic's specialization means they are equipped to handle unusual or difficult dental conditions that might be beyond the scope of a general practitioner. The case of Cooper's "rare situation" with his gums and teeth, and Bentley's cancerous tumor, exemplify their capacity for advanced care.
Holistic Perspective and Attention to General Health: As demonstrated by Bentley's case, Dr. Ribka not only addressed the dental tumor but also identified signs of hypothyroidism from blood tests. This attentiveness to overall health, even within a specialized field, showcases a truly comprehensive approach to patient care, leading to significant improvements in the pet's quality of life.
Unwavering Dedication to Pet Well-being: Despite the "hefty cost of services," clients like Bentley's owners affirm that the expertise and care received were "worth every penny," prioritizing their pet's life and health above all else. This speaks volumes about the value they provide.

Gulf South Veterinary Dental Specialties Reviews
We cannot express how grateful we are to the Dr Ribka and her staff. We came in to her clinic with our dog Cooper after an emergency with his gums and teeth. We were treated with respect, explained all options and really felt like she was treating one of her own dogs. We are lucky to be recommended to GS dental because I don’t know if anyone else would have been able to help, since this was a rare situation. I 100000% believe in this clinic and I recommend taking your pets to Dr Ribka. The entire staff made us feel welcome and cared for, which is a rarity these days. Thank you so much.
Jun 24, 2025 · nick papaleDr. Ribka was a godsend for us & our dog Bentley (13). After we noticed an abnormal growth on Bentley’s gums we took him to or normal vet, which did not have the equipment to give Bentley a proper diagnosis at their facility. So they referred us to Gulf South Dental Specialties & we could not have landed in a better spot. Dr. Ribka was amazingly kind & informative from the first visit. She was very honest, but not an alarmist. We felt extremely informed from start to finish. Not only was she able to diagnose his growth as a cancerous tumor, she removed everything that she needed to & after surgery came out & explained what she had done, step by step. On top of that, she also gave us a heads up that Bentley’s blood tests showed signs that he likely had hypothyroidism. She was 100% correct. We got a more extensive blood panel, he was diagnosed, & we have begun treatment for that. Hypothyroidism pills paired w/ his tumor extraction has turned him into a new dog. He has more energy, has lost weight, & also just moves about his daily routine so much more comfortably. We would recommend Gulf South Dental Specialties to anyone that values their pets health to the highest level. I will not lie, the cost of services is extremely hefty, & not everyone will have the option to utilize Dr. Ribka’s expertise. We likely could have found someone that would have completed our procedures for a lower cost, but honestly there’s no way I would ever want to put the life of our pet in the hands of someone less experienced & knowledgeable than Dr. Ribka, & I’m really glad we weren’t forced to. This experience was worth every penny. Thanks for everything Dr. Ribka. -Bentley, Mike, & Andrea
Aug 20, 2024 · Mike LicariDr. Ribka & her staff are beyond professional & compassionate. My cat was diagnosed with Feline Stomatitis, and Dr. Ribka was communicative about all of my options, patient with my anxiety, & came up with the best treatment plan I could have asked for. We decided to go forward with a Full Mouth Extraction, which can be a complicated surgery. Her thoroughness & attention to detail gave me confidence. She also utilizes a board-certified anesthesiologist, which is a major advantage over most vet clinics. My cat is recovering now, but I have optimism that after this surgery, he will have a much better quality of life. I cannot recommend or thank Dr. Ribka and her staff enough for all they have done for my cat & I! If your animal has a condition that requires a dental specialist, there is no better option than Gulf South. I’ve included photos of Toulouse post-op. He’s doing so well!
Aug 11, 2023 · Erin TroendleDr. Ribka went above and beyond for our australian shepherd, Sheba. Sheba had a rare condition with her bone structure in her upper jaw, on top of having underlying chronic renal issues. Dr. Ribka was very thorough in explaining our options to us. She was very confident in her abilities to help our dog. We were quite impressed with how comfortable Sheba was made before and after the procedure. Sheba is now 2 weeks post operation and is better than ever.
Dec 30, 2022 · Colin BeyerDr. Ribka hung the moon! She did such an amazing job on our beloved Savannah. This is not just our dog, she is our baby. We had so many concerns about her dental surgery because she is our 13 yr old baby. Dr. Ribka made us feel immediately comfortable and confident about the procedure. We cannot express in words enough how grateful we are for Dr. Ribka's professionalism and compassion. Wishing you all the very best, Dr. Ribka...now and always.
