Healing Hands 4 Paws Shirley Long Island is conveniently located at 2118, 1010 Montauk Hwy, Shirley, NY 11967, USA. This prominent address places the center directly on Montauk Highway, a major artery on Long Island, ensuring high visibility and ease of navigation for clients coming from various parts of the island.
Shirley, situated in Suffolk County, provides a central point for residents across eastern and central Long Island seeking specialized rehabilitation services. Being on Montauk Highway means the clinic is easily reachable by car, and the presence of a specific street number (2118) within the larger 1010 Montauk Hwy complex suggests a well-defined and straightforward entrance. Healing Hands 4 Paws Shirley Long Island specializes exclusively in veterinary rehabilitation, offering a range of advanced therapies designed to improve mobility, reduce pain, and enhance the quality of life for pets recovering from injury, surgery, or suffering from chronic conditions. Their services are highly targeted and scientifically supported.
Physical Therapy (PT): This is a cornerstone of their offerings, focusing on targeted exercises and manual techniques to improve strength, flexibility, balance, and coordination. Physical therapy regimens are custom-tailored to each pet's specific needs and condition. This may include:
- Therapeutic exercises to build muscle and improve range of motion.
- Stretching and massage to increase flexibility and reduce muscle tension.
- Gait training to improve walking patterns and stability.
- Proprioception exercises to enhance body awareness and balance.
Hydrotherapy: Utilizing water for therapeutic purposes, hydrotherapy is particularly beneficial for pets with joint pain, arthritis, or neurological conditions, as the buoyancy of water reduces stress on joints. This includes:
- Underwater treadmill therapy, which allows pets to exercise in a controlled environment with reduced weight-bearing, facilitating muscle strengthening and improved gait without excessive strain.
- Potentially other aquatic exercises tailored to individual needs.
Laser Therapy: Also known as photobiomodulation, laser therapy uses specific wavelengths of light to stimulate cellular healing, reduce inflammation, and alleviate pain. This non-invasive treatment is effective for a variety of conditions, including:
- Arthritis and joint pain.
- Soft tissue injuries (strains, sprains).
- Post-surgical recovery to promote faster healing and reduce discomfort.
- Wound healing.
Therapeutic Ultrasound: While not explicitly mentioned in reviews, a comprehensive rehabilitation center often offers therapeutic ultrasound, which uses sound waves to generate heat deep within tissues, promoting circulation, reducing pain, and aiding in tissue repair.
Pain Management Programs: Central to their rehabilitation efforts is a strong focus on pain relief. Their multi-modal approach integrates various therapies to effectively manage chronic pain conditions, allowing pets to participate more comfortably in their rehabilitation and daily activities.
Post-Surgical Rehabilitation: They provide crucial support for pets recovering from orthopedic or neurological surgeries, helping to restore function, prevent muscle atrophy, and accelerate recovery, ultimately aiming for a better long-term outcome.
Mobility and Neurological Rehabilitation: Specialized programs for pets with neurological conditions (e.g., disc disease, degenerative myelopathy) or severe mobility issues, aiming to improve strength, coordination, and overall functional independence.
Personalized Treatment Plans: A key aspect of their service is the creation of individualized treatment plans based on a thorough assessment of each pet's condition, ensuring the most effective and targeted therapies.

Healing Hands 4 Paws Shirley Long Island Reviews
Dr. Archer and his staff are AMAZING! They truly care about your pet. This comes across in everything they do. Highly recommend you give them a try if you have a pet that has issues waking. When my vet was out of options for my 12 yr old lab and recommended physical therapy by Dr. Archer, I was a bit of a sceptic. I am a believer now!

Healing Hands 4 Paws has given Balto a better quality of life and he has been thriving within the first few weeks of laser therapy, hydro therapy, treadmill and physical therapy. Balto even gets so excited when we enter the parking lot because he knows Cath and Dr. Archer are going to take away his pain. I highly recommend Healing Hands 4 Paws. Mar 23, 2018 · Luann JohnsonThis is an amazing place. First the entire staff is super nice and caring. Dr. Archer takes his time with his evaluation. He is caring, gentile and understanding. He explains everything. Lisa is an amazing therapist along with Gabby. They are such caring, loving people you know your fur baby is in the right hands. They explain the therapy they are doing and why. They teach you how to follow through with therapy at home. My girl improved each week, and also became more relaxed with each visit because it was such a positive experience. If your pet needs any kind of therapy this is the place to go. It is an hours drive for me but worth every bit. My girl needed therapy after ACL surgery but they do so much more.
May 03, 2022 · Linda VestrichDr. Archer is absolutely amazing. He takes such time and care with our special needs dog. We have been through a few physical therapists and none have given the attention and expertise Dr. Archer has! Thanks doc!
Jul 02, 2024 · Steve SterlacciWe brought our 9 year old lab Elvis directly to Healing Hands 4 Paws after having bilateral TPLO surgery to be admitted for 2 weeks of post op and rehab. From the moment we were greeted by Dr. Archer and his staff we knew he was in excellent hands. We decided to continue outpatient rehab for Elvis to give him the best chance of a great recovery. He received exceptional care and a beautiful outcome with the help of Dr. Archer and Kat his wonderful rehab assistant.
