What is worth choosing? For pet owners in Colorado, Chaparral Animal Health Center offers a distinct and important choice, particularly for those who are open to or specifically seeking a holistic and integrated approach to veterinary care. The clinic’s strengths are clearly articulated in the positive feedback: Dr. Dave and his team are seen as compassionate, knowledgeable, and genuinely caring individuals who can provide life-saving care. The success story of the pug is a powerful testament to the positive outcomes that can be achieved with their unique methods. However, a potential client must also consider the significant negative review, which tells a story of a serious diagnostic error that led to a pet’s condition worsening. The reviewer claims that Dr. Dave dismissed their dog's wheezing as a simple sinus infection without a thorough exam, when in fact, the dog had a cancerous tumor in its nose. The reviewer's experience highlights a potential issue with diagnosis and communication, and the tragic outcome underscores the importance of a thorough and cautious approach. While the clinic’s holistic focus and compassionate nature are clear assets for many, this negative feedback suggests that a critical eye is needed. It is important for potential clients to weigh the potential for a compassionate, non-invasive approach against the risks of a possible misdiagnosis. It may be wise for new clients to have a frank conversation with the clinic about their diagnostic procedures, especially for complex or unusual symptoms. The choice to use Chaparral Animal Health Center is a personal one, but it is one that requires careful consideration of both the rave reviews and the serious cautionary tale to ensure it aligns with your pet's specific health needs.

August 06 · Maria Loraina AWe brought in our dog because she was wheezing at night. Initially when we brought her in, we were told by Dr. Dave that he's seen this many times before and it was just a little sinus infection (without doing any real exam of her). It was a "trust me I know" type of conversation. We ended up bringing her back two weeks later as it wasn't getting better. We were still told that he believed it was a sinus issue and we shouldn't worry. But to ease our mind, he flushed out her sinuses with saline (causing bleeding and discharge.) We then brought her to Valley Vet and the Veterinarian held a cotton strand up to her nose and said, "she has a mass in her right nostril, we need to get her a CT scan asap". And, he was right. She had a cancerous tumor in her right nostril. That visit took 5 minutes, where we were waiting nearly a month for an answer previously on why her breathing was so poor.As our primary vet, we initially reached out for any type of support as we tried to navigate our way through this diagnosis with palliative care. We weren't given that and felt like we were just shrugged off during this period of such stress and unknowing. Sadly, our beloved dog passed not too long after.
January 15 · Lindy CurtisGreat vet with alternate medication options for our senior dog with cancer. They removed her growths for less than half of what CSU Vet school wanted! Prescribed natural cancer prevention & immune boosting nutrients. It's been 6 years since her first growth was removed! Traditional radiation treatments estimated she'd have a yr 6 months after treatment!? She's still in good spirits!
September 12 · Natalie Cole KellyDr Dave is simply the best. I drive my anxious pups 40 minutes one way just to see him. His love for animals is so clear and the work that he does on them is profound. My dog had a random limp and Dr Dave did chiropractic and acupuncture on her three times and she started to heal. Amazing work! 🙏
August 09 · Cheri BrandonDr. Dave is the best. He helped my senior border collie with acupuncture and chiropractic. He and his staff are always so kind and compassionate. I 100% recommend Dr Dave if you are seeking holistic alternatives for your pets.
