We’ve been a client of Hollis Vet hospital with our 4 animals for many years. We moved to Merrimack, NH, but in order to keep care consistent, kept going to Hollis. Dr. Jill is fine, not amazing bedside manner but a good doctor. She is a one doctor practice, making it hard to consistently get care with her without a long wait (sometimes they’ll ask you to see a relief DVM). All to be expected with a small mom and pop shop veterinarian practice. That being said, we made the decision last Fall to start researching new vets. We asked for a copy of our records so we could start to find a new vet. In that time, we still engaged with the practice when we called to let them know our dog of 17 years old had passed away. We had an I’m sorry from the front desk, but I work in veterinarian medicine and I was surprised to never hear from Dr. Jill. No email, call or card - something that’s a very common practice. In May of this year, we were out of town and our 2 remaining dogs found a porcupine and our dog sitter called during business hours to get them in. They were told that they couldn’t be seen because they were no longer active. No longer active? They received their last care from Dr. Jill last year - regular annual - and we had engaged with them only 3 months ago. We never asked for them to be marked as inactive, a business practice I do not implement in any of the practices I oversee. They were turned away to an emergency vet. When I called, the front desk because defensive saying they didn’t say that, but of course, how would our dog sitter know that if not because they were told that. Despite the rude staff, I asked if we could have a call back with Dr. Jill, schedule time, or come into the office and wait to speak with her. I felt after thousands of dollars, years of care, with 4 animals, a conversation was at least owed, the staff declined all. Sharing my experience because animal care especially when you lose a pet or are on vacation is so critical. It is probably worth it to consider another vet - drive 10 min up the road to Nashua or another town and find a veterinarian that has multiple DVMs to provide care and that has exceptional service so you know your pups are safe. Just wanted to share an honest review of our experiences here.

They help you make the best choices for your pet and provide great care.

Office is inviting, great parking and very fair in price when it comes to different services. Highly recommend HVH!
