## Introduction to Integrative Veterinary Wellness: A Unique Approach to Pet Health
In the Dallas-Fort Worth area, pet owners are increasingly seeking more than just standard veterinary care for their beloved animals. They are looking for a comprehensive approach that addresses the whole pet, not just individual symptoms. Integrative Veterinary Wellness, located in Richardson, Texas, offers a unique and highly effective solution. As our name suggests, we combine the best of traditional Western medicine with a wide range of holistic and alternative therapies, including Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (TCVM). Our foundational belief is that this integrative approach can lead to optimal wellness, improved quality of life, and enhanced mobility for pets, particularly those suffering from chronic diseases, injuries, or the natural effects of aging. We are not just a clinic; we are a partner in your pet's long-term health, offering a balanced and compassionate path to healing.
At Integrative Veterinary Wellness, our team is comprised of highly experienced professionals with extensive training and certifications in a variety of integrative veterinary medicine techniques. This includes expertise in acupuncture, herbal therapies, rehabilitation, regenerative medicine, and veterinary chiropractic. We are proud to be a women-owned business, bringing a thoughtful and empathetic perspective to our practice. Our approach is deeply rooted in personalized care. We work to create a customized treatment plan for each patient, collaborating with other veterinary providers like oncologists and neurologists to ensure a seamless and comprehensive approach to complex health issues. This collaborative spirit is highlighted in a review from a satisfied client whose dog, Beemo, has been beating spinal cancer for over three years with our help. The client noted that Dr. Smallwood "always keeps herself updated on Beemo's status between his different health providers." This level of coordination is a hallmark of our service. Another client praised Dr. Smallwood as being "very kind, extremely intelligent, and highly experienced," highlighting her thoroughness and integrity. We believe that by combining the power of both traditional and alternative therapies, we can not only treat your pet’s ailments but also improve their overall well-being, helping them live a more comfortable and fulfilling life. We are dedicated to providing excellent care and support to our clients and their pets every step of the way.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Our 6-year-old fur baby has been beating spinal cancer for over 3 years now. He's been seeing Dr. Smallwood for almost 3 years for acupuncture. She always keeps herself updated on Beemo's status between his different health providers - neurologist, oncologist, etc. She is always in high demand so we make sure to always book out his appointments in advance. He loves going to see her and we can't recommend Dr. Smallwood and her staff enough! To refute some angry reviewers' claims about vaccines: Dr. Smallwood has had no issues treating Beemo who has been unvaccinated since his diagnosis in early 2022 as directed by his oncologist. She coordinates with all his providers and we've never experienced a single challenge with her.
May 17 · Albert CDr Smallwood is very kind, extremely intelligent, and highly experienced. She is thorough and doesn't try to sell you something you don't need. Her staff is also highly skilled and professional. The prices are more than reasonable and the hours of operation are convenient. I highly recommend Dr Smallwood for any of your dog's physical therapy or rehab needs! My 13 year old cocker spaniel loves going every week for the underwater treadmill and I can't thank them enough for everything they've done to help stabilize and even improve her stability and mobility issues!
August 27 · Robert WillisDr. Smallwood, Dr. Martinson and staff helped our Kylo to achieve great progress only within 6 weeks after his spinal stroke. He improved a lot with the water therapy and acupuncture. All staff members are so welcoming, sweet and caring. They treated him so well, he loved them and wasn’t even much anxious after only a few visits. We are so greatful for making our pup happy and healthier. Thank you team.
February 11 · Karina KanDr. Smallwood and her staff are beyond amazing! Words can not express how thankful I am that we found her and her team for our 9 year old Husky Denali.Denali was diagnosed with a rotator cuff injury (simple way to put it) after her MRI scan. With numerous phone calls to other offices we landed an appointment here. Dr. Smallwood was very informative about what was going to happen/needed to do. From the PRP injections to shockwave therapy she guided us every step of the way. Denali can be a problem child (she hates her feet/legs being touched) and with the help of Angela and her calm demeanor Denali grew to love coming to see Dr. Smallwood and Angela! (She allows them to do what they need to do with her legs during therapy with a side eye look) We love the communication with this office from vet tech to doctor and back to the patient. Your questions get answered in a timely manner and information you need to help furry baby get better. We love that Angela gives us a run down of how the appointment went and if a shoulder is/was more sensitive that visit and what we can do to help.We drive almost a hour each way and honestly it is the best decision we’ve ever made for our girl. She has started acting like a pup again and became more herself within the first couple of months after the first round of PRP injections. Within a year we’ve seen so much improvement and have gotten to see her enjoy life again. Thank you so much Dr. Smallwood and team for everything you guys have done for Denali! A thank you isn’t even enough with how much we appreciate you guys. 💜
July 30 · Kacey PrebevsekIncredible place to take your pet, truly caring, Dr Smallwood was recommended to me by another vet and I'm very grateful for it... My English bulldog has a couple of disk herniations and their holistic approach to treatment with cold laser, chiropractor, Chinese medicine, and acupuncture is like no one else. Super friendly, I would take my dog anywhere else.
