Morse had been having eye issues for about 3 months. Our regular vet was on medical leave and the vet I took her to recommended removal of the eye after trying several expensive medications. Our regular vet then recommended Dr. Keil who has been amazing. Dr. Keil diagnosed an immune disease of the eye which we have been treating for the last 3 years. Morse's eyes are clear with no pain. Right now she only gets a maintenance medication twice a week. Morse is never stressed in Dr. Keil's office. Everyone is so kind and professional! - Nancy Southard

Keil Veterinary Ophthalmology Introduce

When the beloved pets of Kansas residents face complex eye conditions, a general practice veterinarian often refers them to a specialist for the highest level of care. **Keil Veterinary Ophthalmology**, located in Lenexa, Kansas, is a distinguished specialty service dedicated exclusively to the medical and surgical diseases of the animal eye. Founded by **Dr. Susan Keil**, a board-certified Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmology (ACVO), this clinic provides world-class expertise right here in the Kansas City metro area.

The practice is built on the critical need for advanced diagnostic and surgical instrumentation that is not typically available in a standard general practice setting. Dr. Keil’s decades of experience, including an ophthalmology residency at Kansas State University, ensure that pets—most commonly dogs, cats, and horses—receive focused, cutting-edge treatment. This specialization is vital because inadequate treatment of ocular problems can swiftly lead to diminished or lost vision, or persistent discomfort, profoundly affecting a pet's quality of life.

Keil Veterinary Ophthalmology focuses on a holistic approach to eye health, understanding that ocular issues, such as cataracts, often have roots in underlying systemic medical conditions. By concentrating solely on ophthalmology, the clinic is able to bring a dedicated level of skill to complicated issues like dry eye, glaucoma, corneal ulcers, and cataracts—a visually rewarding surgery that Dr. Keil has been expertly performing for over 25 years. Their mission is to restore and maintain the precious vision of your companion animals with professionalism and genuine kindness.

While the overwhelming sentiment from clients speaks to the incredible medical expertise and positive outcomes, it is important for Kansas pet owners to be aware of all facets of a business. One highly positive review highlights the clinic's success in diagnosing a complex immune disease of the eye in a dog named Morse, an issue that another vet had missed, saving the animal’s eye and demonstrating the value of a specialty referral. This success story emphasizes the life-changing difference specialized knowledge can make for a Kansas family and their pet. Conversely, a documented instance of client dissatisfaction focuses on the non-medical policies, specifically regarding an upfront payment requirement and a rigid, unyielding rescheduling policy with associated fees. This contrasting feedback underscores the necessity for clients to thoroughly review and understand the clinic's administrative and financial policies, which may differ significantly from general veterinary practices, prior to booking an appointment.

Location and Accessibility

Keil Veterinary Ophthalmology is centrally located in Lenexa, Kansas, making it an accessible destination for specialty referrals from the greater Kansas City metropolitan area and surrounding parts of Kansas and Missouri. The clinic is situated in a convenient, professional location, ensuring clients can easily bring their pets for necessary consultations and procedures.

The clinic's full address is: 11519 W 83rd Terrace, Lenexa, KS 66214, USA.

Services Offered

As a highly focused specialty service, Keil Veterinary Ophthalmology directs all its resources toward the diagnosis and treatment of ocular health conditions in small animals (dogs and cats) and horses. What is Worth Choosing Keil Veterinary Ophthalmology

For pet owners across Kansas, choosing Keil Veterinary Ophthalmology is an investment in the specialized preservation of your animal's vision and comfort. When a pet’s condition moves beyond the scope of primary veterinary care, a specialist is necessary, and Dr. Keil provides the region's gold standard of care. This clinic is worth choosing because it offers an indispensable service: access to a **board-certified veterinary ophthalmologist** with decades of surgical and diagnostic experience.

The value proposition lies in the fact that your pet receives care where a highly specialized team, utilizing advanced instrumentation, is solely focused on the delicate and complex structures of the eye. For conditions ranging from cataracts to chronic immune diseases, the difference between a general treatment and a specialist's intervention can be the difference between blindness and clarity, or chronic pain and comfort.

While clients must carefully navigate and accept the administrative protocols (such as the recommended upfront payment and strict rescheduling policy) necessary for managing a highly demanded specialty practice, the overwhelming benefit is access to a facility where complex eye diseases are accurately diagnosed and effectively managed. For pet owners who view their animal's sight as paramount, Keil Veterinary Ophthalmology represents the focused expertise needed to protect this precious sense.
