McCordsville Veterinary Hospital is characterized by several key features and highlights that are frequently appreciated by pet owners in Indiana, though it is also important to consider all aspects of client feedback. These elements contribute to its standing as a prominent local veterinary option.
- Experienced and Dedicated Veterinarians: The hospital benefits from a team of experienced veterinarians, including Dr. Scot Harbin (sole owner since 2001, practicing there since 1998) and Dr. Kristen Sprunger (integral since 2008), and Dr. Owen Pulver (joined in 2023). Dr. Harbin is particularly noted by clients for taking the time to explain options for pet health issues and providing resources for further reading. Dr. Sprunger is praised for her persistence in getting pets the specialized care they need.
- Compassionate and Caring Approach: Many clients express deep appreciation for the doctors' kindness, gentleness, and genuine care for their animals. Reviews highlight veterinarians who "love all of the Dr.'s in the practice and my dog does too!!" and who treat pets "with respect and care."
- Affordable and Fair Pricing: The hospital is frequently mentioned for being "more affordable compared to my previous vet" and having "very fair" prices, making quality pet care accessible for many local families.
- Respect for Client Decisions: The team is noted for respecting client decisions regarding services, not pushing unnecessary treatments, such as when discussing vaccine options.
- Supportive During Difficult Times: For sensitive situations like euthanasia, clients report that the staff is very supportive, walking them through the procedure and not rushing them, ensuring the pet is comfortable in their last moments.
- Accessibility of Doctors: The ability to speak directly with the doctors, including Dr. Harbin, to discuss pet health options and concerns is a valued aspect of their service.
- Strong Community Presence: Having served the community for over 25 years, the hospital has built a significant local presence and trust among residents of McCordsville and surrounding areas.
- Challenges with Front Desk Staff: Some long-term clients have reported consistent issues with the attitude of certain front desk staff members, specifically mentioning "Stacey" as being rude, which has caused some to consider seeking care elsewhere despite loving the doctors.
- Emergency Triage Limitations: A significant concern raised in one review highlights a potential limitation regarding immediate emergency care, where a critically ill pet was reportedly turned away due to no veterinarian being "currently available" and advised to wait, leading to a tragic outcome. This indicates that while they are a "hospital" by name, their immediate emergency response capabilities might be limited at certain times, and this is a crucial consideration for severe urgent cases.

For Indiana locals, particularly those in McCordsville and the wider central Indiana region, McCordsville Veterinary Hospital presents a compelling option for general veterinary care. The hospital's long-standing presence, dedicated team of veterinarians like Dr. Harbin and Dr. Sprunger, and commitment to affordable, professional, and personalized care are significant advantages. Clients consistently praise the doctors for their knowledge, compassion, and willingness to educate pet owners, fostering a sense of trust and partnership in their pet's health journey. The hospital’s fair pricing and respect for client decisions further enhance its suitability for local families. However, it is vital for pet owners to be fully aware of the hospital's operational structure, especially concerning emergencies. While it is a "veterinary hospital" by name, the reported limitations in immediate emergency intake suggest that for critical, life-threatening situations, particularly outside of regular appointment flow or if a veterinarian is not instantly available, a dedicated 24/7 emergency veterinary facility might be a more appropriate first point of contact. For routine care, vaccinations, dental work, and non-critical illnesses, McCordsville Veterinary Hospital remains a highly recommended and valued local resource, offering the compassionate and skilled care that pet owners across Indiana seek for their beloved animals.

McCordsville Veterinary Hospital Reviews
**Do not bring your pets to this facility.** They claim to be an animal hospital, but when we needed them most, they failed us.Last Thursday, we found our beloved cat unresponsive at home. Another vet referred us to this location, so we rushed there hoping for immediate help — possibly CPR or any life-saving treatment. When we arrived, we were turned away by the front desk staff, who told us no veterinarian was currently available. They suggested we wait 30 minutes — time we simply didn’t have.We were forced to go elsewhere, and by the time we got to another facility, it was too late. This post is to raise awareness. If your animal is in critical condition, do **not** rely on this facility. Even if a vet isn’t present, trained vet techs should be able to administer CPR or basic emergency care — yet nothing was done. It’s devastating to think that help might have made a difference. If you are not equipped to handle emergencies, you should not call yourself a hospital. This experience was misleading, traumatic, and a tragic loss for our family.
Jul 22, 2025 · Landon CarothersDr Harbin has been a life saver. From my lab with seizures. To the puppy we got and had to get checked after picking up from the humane society and only having him 3 hours. Only complaint is one of the front desk staff has been rude for years to me. I have considered finding another vet solely because of her attitude but have decided not to because I love the doctors. When you call just don’t expect Stacey to be kind, I have been going there for 11 years and she’s rude every time.
May 28, 2025 · Kristen WeddingtonI've been going to McCordsville vet for many years. We've had several pets and they have helped us all the way from puppies to end of life. All the way through they have been nothing but great. I like all the vets, but Dr. Harbin is awesome. He is so knowledgeable, yet practical. I've met many vets in my lifetime, and he's been the best.
Apr 22, 2025 · Kelly SterkI have been coming there with my dog since he was a puppy. he is now an old dog and everytime i go in for treatment the male vets are always very courteous and nice. The female vet was extremely rude and unprofessional. She asked me if i wanted to treat my dog’s cysts on his leg? why would i be at the vet? Because im bored? Very condescending. The way the vet and vet tech were reacting was very unprofessional and rude.
Mar 04, 2025 · Nick TuberWe have been with McCordsville Animal Hospital for over 20 years now. They have gone out of their way to make sure our dogs have always been taken care of perfectly! Dr. Harbin and his associates care about every animal they care for. I would highly recommend them to anyone who wants the best care for their four legged family members!
