McGowan Veterinary Hospital Introduce
For pet owners across Southeast Texas, especially in the Vidor area, finding a dependable and comprehensive veterinary practice is crucial for maintaining the health and happiness of beloved animal companions. **McGowan Veterinary Hospital** positions itself as a committed local resource, providing a broad spectrum of medical services designed for the well-being of dogs and cats in the community. Their mission, as echoed by many local users, is to offer quality care for the treasured family pets of Vidor and the surrounding Texas communities. They are recognized as a Veterinarian establishment dedicated to addressing both routine health needs and unexpected medical concerns.
As with any high-traffic local business, the experiences of Texas residents who have used their services can be varied. The hospital has received positive feedback highlighting the staff's professionalism, friendliness, and accommodating nature, particularly in situations requiring prompt attention or long-distance travel. One customer, for instance, reported an excellent overall experience following a minor surgery for their pet, praising the knowledgeable staff and the excellent job done by the doctor. The clinic's affordability was also cited as a reason for continued patronage, despite a long drive. Conversely, other reviews express significant frustration with communication, perceived care protocols, and billing practices, with one user specifically alleging a focus on monetary transactions over animal welfare and relating a highly negative and stressful experience involving multiple, seemingly unproductive exams, cancelled surgery, and a refusal to transfer funds to another hospital. Prospective clients from the Texas region are encouraged to consider all available feedback and conduct their own due diligence to determine if the hospital's approach aligns with their expectations for pet care.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1- My girl had a minor surgery this morning and I couldn't be more pleased with the overall experience. All of the staff were friendly and knowledgeable, they even accommodated my visit into 1 due to my 2 1/2 hr drive. All of my questions were answered, all worries laid to rest. Doc did a excellent job and couldn't recommend this clinic more. I will continue to make the drive not on for the affordable prices but the people that made our visit the absolute best outcome All the way around. June 05 · Jennifer Morgan
- overall never taking my dog or any of my pets there they just want your money and they don’t care about your animals wellbeing one bit they are the WORST veterinary ever!!!I’ve gone to McGowan vet a couple times because my dog has a tumor and I was gonna get him neutered but the first time I went in for an exam they checked him out and charged me the money for the exam then they proceeded to setup an appointment for his surgery date. when the time for his surgery came around I went into the exam room before the took him in to get surgery and they took his blood and told me that his blood was to thin to do surgery so then they proceeded to give me a prescription for him to take for couple weeks and they charged me again and set back the appt for a month and they had told me that it’s normal and that it happens all the time that they have to give dogs that medicine and send them home so I proceeded to tell them that if it’s normal why didn’t they do that in the beginning when I first came in to set up an appointment for his surgery so I wouldn’t have to take him home for a whole month and so I took him home and and two weeks after he had been home he started to mess with the tumor (licking it) so I called the vet and asked if they could move his appointment sooner because my dog looked like he was in pain they moved the surgery date sooner and that was the end of that after a week or so that I had called them one day he started crying really loud and started licking his tumor and I noticed that it started to bleed so I called McGowan vet and told them what was happening and they said that they could set up an appointment for another exam before his surgery so I then took him to his exam that they had set for him and the only thing they did was looked at him said “ yep it’s starting to bleed and needs to be taken care of “ she proceeded to do nothing but tell me that I already had a date set for the 10th which I had already known i took him in because they said they could do something so the only thing they did was told me the date of the surgery and charged me once again (they did absolutely nothing) so then I came home and 1 day before his surgery they call me and canceled his surgery due to a inconvenience they had and told me to call dowlan veterinary hospital instead I then proceeded to tell them that I’ve spent so much money with them already for countless and POINTLESS exams and that if that money could be transferred to dowlan veterinary hospital or get my money back because now I have to redo all those exams and with another vet since they had an inconvenience and my dog NEEDS the surgery asap they then said no they can’t and I told them so all that money that I had given yall was pointless they only thing she could say was “sorry” and hung up.
