Jun 03, 2025 · Mike EngleWe have always been very pleased over the many years that we have dealt with their office, and the doctors that have taken care of our dogs. They have shown care and concern about our pet, and have communicated well all of the times we have needed their services.Although this last dealing with them last week, we believe was handled very poorly, very uncaring and unprofessional. We struggled with the horrible decision of euthanasia and when we finally made that decision, it seemed the person that did it was not very experienced. They never weighed him, which should have been done to determine how much medication to give him, nor did they ask us any questions, like if we were sure about our decision, etc.We had been told that it probably would take 5-10 min. or more for the sedative to relax our boy and go to sleep. The person, not sure if she was a licensed vet, or not, gave him the sedative and my boy was out in seconds! Did she give him too much? Why was he out, sleeping, sedated so quickly? There was no time to talk to our boy, comfort him, nothing! He was out so fast! We did not even have time to say goodbye! Then she started to administer the drug in his hind leg and she blew the vein. She tried in his 2nd hind leg and blew out another vein. She then said that she needed to get more “medicine” because it was not working, as our boy continued to lay there helplessly, as we watched his chest go up and down, breathing! She left to go get another vial of the drug. When she came back in, she told me that I needed to move, because she needed to come up where I was at his head and try in his front leg. After injecting him the third time in his front leg, she blew out another vein!!!Then she said, “I guess I’ll go get the specialist, she can probably do it better.” Then why didn’t someone more experienced come and do it the first time, instead of going through all this? She told me that I needed to move again and they needed to go into his 4th leg! 20-30 minutes later, our boy continued laying there breathing, hearing all that was going on. She seemed so cold, so uncaring as she moved from leg to leg, inserting needles numerous times trying to pump him with drugs that she couldn't get directly into the veins. This seemed so cruel! How could it end like this! This was not peaceful and quick! This was taking way too long! Finally, another lady came in, injected his 4th leg with the 3rd vial of drug and within seconds he was gone! Why didn’t this person do it the first time! That is how it should have been!!!It was handled very poorly, uncaring, and unprofessional. This is not how it should have ended for our boy! What should have taken only about 3-5 minutes, took her 30-40 minutes, putting needles in all 4 legs, giving him 3 times the amount of drug to stop his heart. Our boy, and us, should not have had to go through all of that. They seemed like they were there just to do a job, which they did not do very well!On top of all of that, we were told a price, and during our pain in that room, they gave us the bill that was way more than they had told us when we had called. One more thing to add to the hurt and pain!I hope this person that tried to euthanize our boy learns how to do it better, not be in such a hurry as to blow veins out like she did, not just once, but three times, in 3 legs, and shows more compassion and caring to the families that are going through this terrible decision and pain of putting their pet down.We pray no other family or dog lover has to go through those last 30-40 minutes of their dog’s life like we did. We believe ending our boy’s life in this manner was not right, not professional, and was cruel to our boy! It was a horrible experience and it definitely should not have ended this way.
Jun 06, 2025 · Dana VanHornVery very awesome place. Very friendly and very flexible. I travel alot for work and the military so when I'm back in town I have to try and help my wife with all the stuff she can't do on her own. Our coonhound princess is one of those things and the techs/vets at Millerstown Vet are always ready and have a smile when we come in. Our animals used to require a sedative to help take the edge off when coming in to the vet but they no longer require anything before their visit or a muzzle. Very awesome establishment. Very professional team members and great location in the hills.Thank you everyone for helping us take care of our loved ones since we moved to the area!!!!
