What is worth choosing?
When a pet is diagnosed with cancer, the choice of a veterinary oncologist becomes one of the most important decisions a family will ever make. For Washingtonians, Olympia Veterinary Specialists Oncology offers a compelling case for being the premier choice, due in large part to the deep compassion and medical expertise that is consistently highlighted in customer reviews. A client’s review speaks volumes, describing how the entire staff "truly cared for Kirby and me and my husband." They go on to say that their appointments often became "therapy sessions for us," and they found this level of "compassion and dedication is rare." The review also mentions the staff's prompt and courteous replies to their constant questions, and their willingness to accommodate urgency, which are invaluable services when facing a life-threatening illness. This humane and caring approach is a powerful reason to choose this clinic.
Beyond the compassion, the technical expertise of the team, and specifically Dr. Parshley, is a major reason to choose this clinic. As a reviewer notes, "Dr. Parshely participates in clinical trials. She’s on the forefront of research and has access to testing and research typically only afforded to large universities." This access to advanced medical science gives pet owners a real sense of hope, knowing their animal is receiving the best possible care from a specialist who is at the forefront of her field. The review emphasizes that "if anyone can save your pet from cancer, she can." This combination of cutting-edge research and personalized care is a rare and powerful offering that sets Olympia Veterinary Specialists Oncology apart from other veterinary practices in the area.
Another review echoes this sentiment of exceptional care during a moment of crisis. A client who thought they would lose their soulmate of 13 years was met with a team that was "immediately warm and comforting." The review praises Dr. Parshley for immediately contacting them with "digestible information" and making a frightening situation feel "comfortable." The powerful statement that "You can tell when people put their entire soul into their craft, and this office is full of those people," is a testament to the dedication and professionalism of the staff. While the clinic may get behind on appointments due to the time and care they give to each family, as one reviewer notes, the quality of care and the emotional support provided is "worth the wait." For Washington pet owners navigating the complex and emotional journey of a cancer diagnosis, Olympia Veterinary Specialists Oncology is a beacon of hope and a partner that provides not just medical treatment but also the profound compassion that is so desperately needed.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1The entire staff truly cared for Kirby and me and my husband. They helped him reach remission with one cancer only to discover a new cancerous tumor at his one year cancer-free mark. We bombarded them with questions often and always received a courteous and prompt reply. They always worked him into the schedule to accommodate urgency as well as our own schedule. Often, our appointments about Kirby became therapy sessions for us, and I think that level of compassion and dedication is rare. Because of this and the nature of their work, they often get behind with appointments. So, just bring your work, a good, book, a movie on your iPad or phone, or a great attitude for conversation and you’ll be fine. Trust me. When you see a family grieving and watch the staff show so much respect and generosity, you’ll be grateful for the wait and happy to allow more time for them. After all, we will be in that situation one day ourselves and not want to feel rushed. I don’t know how other veterinarian oncologists in the area stay in business with care like this here. Here’s more technical info you’ll appreciate. Dr. Parshely participates in clinical trials. She’s on the forefront of research and has access to testing and research typically only afforded to large universities. You can bet that if anyone can save your pet from cancer, she can. Of course, her hands get tied when costs or lack of money prevents treatment. But, she’ll get you as far as she can without breaking your bank.
May 29 · Rhonda NegardMy soulmate of 13 years started to decline. Navigating our vet and emergency vet brought on a lot of loneliness as symptoms were a little vague and they’re so busy. We landed at OVS oncology thinking we’d lose her that day based on her worsened condition and X-rays. The team were immediately warm and comforting which was absolutely incredible despite my relentless feeling of doom. She went through a scary situation some hours later. Dr. Parshley contacted me immediately with digestible information on what happened, next steps, and possible outcomes. You can tell when people put their entire soul into their craft, and this office is full of those people. They have been such a bright spot in one of my most frightening moments and have made so many hours hanging in the unknown comfortable. You don’t get many vet experiences like this and I’m extremely grateful.
June 21 · S HThis place is the best. From Dr. Parshley to Dr. Allen to the lead vet tech Jess. Shane's smiling face at the front door is what gets us through these tough times. The people in this building are seriously the best. They work long hours and treat the animals SO good. My boy has behavioral issues and they absolutely love him! I can't extend a big enough thank you from my heart. You guys are THE BEST. Tucker loves you guys!!!!
July 18 · Nicholas RogersWhen I found out my two year old Bengal had Hemangiosarcoma in 2018 I was devastated. I was told this type of cancer is rare in cats and would most likely be a death sentence. I asked a friend if they knew of an oncologist in the area and was referred to Dr Lisa Parshley, DVM.After my cat’s first visit, Dr Parshley gave me such great news that it had been recently discovered that this type of cancer in cats had been treated incorrectly in the past resulting in death. Now she was armed with the correct treatment and said prognosis would be good. My boy was given chemo treatment and after several sessions he was pronounced to be in clinical remission. When my boy started having another small growth, earlier this year, I took him in for an exam. Yes, it was another cancer growth but instead of removing it and causing other issues, Dr Parshley suggested she perform a nano particle laser procedure that was in clinical trials for animals. She had previously performed this procedure with great results (and has also recently published a paper on this topic, by the way) so of course I didn’t hesitate to set it up once I received the quote. My boy has now had the surgery and is doing great. He will have a second procedure end of month with a possible third later if needed. This is by far a less invasive procedure with a quick recovery. My boy is doing so well and having energy when he wants to play and sleeps or watches birds outside when he’s taking it easy.I am so extremely grateful for Dr Parshley and her staff. Everyone there is so kind and you can tell they love animals. Dr Parshley is always on the forefront of the latest technology and treatments for her patients and I would not hesitate to recommend her to anyone needing an oncologist for their fur baby.
May 18 · C GrahamMy much loved dog is currently going through cancer treatment. Anyone who has gone through it with their pet knows how daunting and heartbreaking it is. I can say truly that everyone from the support staff to the doctors, leaves me feeling like I am listened to and all of my concerns and questions are addressed. I'm less scared for my best friend. I hate dropping him and leaving him for his treatments, but leaving him with those doctors and that staff makes things better.
