★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1We recently had our Doberman’s ears cropped at this clinic, and we couldn’t be more pleased with the experience. Dr. V and his staff went above and beyond in every way. The staff was incredibly kind and attentive, making us feel completely at ease throughout the process. Dr. V not only did a fantastic job with the ear crop but also took the time to explain every step of the procedure. He even allowed us to specify the exact length and look we wanted for our pup's ears. When we picked up our dog after surgery, we were touched to see that Dr. V had personalized his bandages with a "K" for Kyro—such a thoughtful and special detail. The results exceeded our expectations; his ears look great! Additionally, Dr. V’s extensive knowledge of the Doberman breed was evident as he shared valuable information about breed-specific concerns and common health issues. We truly appreciated his expertise and the care he showed our pup. Highly recommend!I wanted to share pictures from each stage of our pup's ear cropping journey to give others a clearer picture of the healing process. While it may seem intimidating or even a bit ugly at first, I think it’s important to highlight the progress and how great the final result can be. Ear cropping is definitely a "trust the process" procedure, but after seeing the care and expertise Dr. V provided, I would trust him with this procedure again without hesitation.
December 27 · MaKenzie PetersThis has got to be the most unique and eclectic animal hospital I’ve ever been to. At first I was a little put off because I couldn’t be part of the initial examination. My visit with them was for my two new mice, Blackie and Brownie. Two males that started getting a little aggressive towards each other and decided a neutering would take care of that. This vet is one of two I think in the area for small and exotic animal care. I waited about 90 minutes during the initial consultation which is not the norm but it was a Friday night and they were busy. After speaking with Dr. Vyfhuis, he set my mind at ease and was extremely informative through every stage of the surgery and after care. He has a great vibe about him and very knowledgeable. He took the time to explain everything, the staff is very kind and very communicative through texts, emails and phone calls. The office is a mix of different art and just things thrown together but it absolutely works. You can tell they have a deep love of animals. For those put off by not being able to go back with your furkid, Dr. Vyfhuis explained this to me. He likes to take them to the examination room and have his full attention on your pet. With owners in the same room it can be very distracting and even I’ve been guilty of asking questions while a vet was doing an examination. So I fully understand and appreciate wanting full attention on his fur or feather clients. He even took the time to do a video for me of how to catch one of my mice to administer after surgery meds. What vet does that? I even took photos of the bathroom, because like restaurants, if the bathroom is dirty or a mess, that’s a red flag to me. The bathroom was super clean and tidy. Their costs for services are comparable with other vets in the area, maybe even a little less depending on the service. I have nothing but admiration for this office. Thank you team! The mice are doing well.
April 22 · Daleena BarreraOne thing that stands out about this place is that staff always answers their phones and is always friendly and great at responding to emails and voicemails. I really appreciate that they ensure to maintain great communication. One other thing is that this is the only vet that sees small exotic animals in the area which is great for those of us who cannot drive far away to see an exotic vet. I also appreciate ample availability for appointments and flexibility in rescheduling appointments. Very accommodating office. I had a rat tumor removal on an elderly rat which was a risky procedure which I was unsure if she would survive. So far 24 hours later she is running around and happy as can be like nothing happened. And this was a huge invasive tumor on her belly. I’m impressed with the doctors precision and expertise to perform such a surgery on a tiny fragile animal.Update: Came back in for post surgery update and Deanne was very friendly and helpful and let me sit inside since I mentioned I did not have a car to wait in. I found this very considerate since it was freezing today. The doctor gave great post care advice and was very pleasant to speak to today. Love this vet, been here years ago at the Old Town location and glad to be back again years later.
May 26 · Vanessa L.Not very happy with the services provided. I wish my husband would have looked at the reviews before coming here with our pup. This place is a bit on the pricey side. Don’t drop your dog off and leave the parking lot- or they will charge you. It would be nice to be told that before you get charged! We have been taking our dog here for a couple of years. Proximity is the reason it took us this long to change to a new Vet.First- they have you call while outside their locations and a vet assistant/receptionist comes to get your dog from the car. It feels very impersonal. Reminds me of covid days. If by chance you go inside, it’s kind of dated and dingy (not that important) but what I didn’t like is seeing 6 turtles inside a 55 gallon fish tank. Poor turtles!Anytime we need our dogs nails trimmed, they make us purchase pills to help sedate. We follow the instructions, take the dog in, pay for an appointment, take off work to drive up there there for nothing. Because they can never trim the nails. It’s gotten ridiculous. Our dog is not aggressive or a spaz and those pills are worthless. I have taken the dog in multiple times to check the ears. I believe it’s more than ear wax. The constant shaking and scratching makes me feel bad for the dog. Hence why we have brought it up at multiple appointments. Only to be sold another product that doesn’t do much. Still having issues and finally started going to a new vet that comes highly recommended.
April 15 · M VDon’t recommend — The wait is VERY long for everything ..I stayed almost 2 hours and was late for work picking up my animal . EXTREMELY expensive — the doctor is argumentative if you kindly ask for the removal of a charge. I paid for the removal of poop on my rabbit . I was called and told he was ready for pickup ..I never said what time I’d be coming . Granted I came 2 hours after the call and they did offer to clean him again after handing him to me dirty BUT I think he should’ve been checked before being handed to me and I couldn’t wait any longer because I didn’t want to be late for my new job AGAIN because of them. So I asked if he could take that charge off because my pet shouldn’t have been handed to me uncleaned and the doctor got very snappy saying they already cleaned the area but it’s like how would I know ? . It’s very unfortunate because I wanted to like this place BUT I WILL NEVER RECOMMEND OR COME TO THIS PLACE EVER AGAIN — I’ll go to Delaware first . Us as owners are already in distress because of our pets health then to pay RIDICULOUS prices in this economy , having to wait extremely long periods of time between drop off , pickup , being seen , and not having top of the line service for these top of the line prices etc doesn’t help . Not to mention we can’t even see what’s going on because they take them in the back where we can’t see which is also sketchy .Never again.
