The importance of accessible and comprehensive pet care for New York residents cannot be overstated. A local facility that can address a range of needs, from preventative medicine to grooming and training, offers significant convenience. However, as with any service provider, understanding the full scope of what's offered and the overall customer experience is crucial. This article will delve into the various aspects of PET DEGREE, providing factual insights based on available information and public feedback, enabling local pet owners to make an informed decision for their companions.
PET DEGREE is conveniently located at 2055 Clinton St, Buffalo, NY 14206, USA. This address places the facility within a accessible part of Buffalo, making it a viable option for pet owners residing in the city and nearby communities in Western New York, including areas like Winchester, Doyle, West Seneca, Sloan, Cheektowaga, and Gardenville. Clinton Street is a known thoroughfare, which typically implies ease of access and navigation for those traveling by car.
For local users in New York, the accessibility of a pet care facility is a key consideration. A location on a main road like Clinton Street generally means straightforward directions and potentially easier access to parking, reducing stress when transporting pets, especially if they are anxious or unwell. While specific details on public transportation links are not extensively provided, its position within Buffalo suggests that various local transit options may serve the area, though direct routes would need to be verified by individual users.
The centralized location in Buffalo positions PET DEGREE as a convenient option for a broad segment of the local pet-owning population. This geographic advantage aims to ensure that pet parents can reach the facility without undue difficulty, whether for scheduled appointments, emergency situations during operating hours, or utilizing their additional services like grooming or daycare.
PET DEGREE offers a broad array of services, extending beyond traditional veterinary care to encompass a more holistic approach to pet well-being. Their service offerings, based on available information, typically include:
Veterinary Services: This is the core offering, led by veterinarians such as Dr. Josh. Services include basic check-ups, vaccinations, and more serious medical care. They aim to provide high-quality treatments suited to pets' individual needs. Online information also mentions a focus on preventive care, complete examinations, and consultations, allowing doctors to recommend wellness programs based on a pet's breed, age, lifestyle, and overall health. They also list options for specialty care like Class IV Laser Therapy and acupuncture treatments (though acupuncture is specifically mentioned as being at Wheatfield Animal Hospital, it indicates an integrative approach).
Surgery: They offer a wide array of surgical services, with a stated aim to make procedures as comfortable and stress-free as possible for pets.
Emergency Care: PET DEGREE indicates they provide emergency veterinary services during regular operating hours and "after hours care to our patients, clients, and referral veterinary community during emergency situations." It is advisable to call ahead if an emergency arises to ensure prompt assistance.
In-House Laboratory: Their facilities are equipped with in-house laboratories, allowing for a variety of tests that aid in quick diagnosis and immediate treatment.
Doggy Daycare & Boarding: Providing a safe and friendly atmosphere for pets, separate from hospitalized animals, with attentive staff and various kennel sizes and indoor runs. This offers a supervised environment for pets while owners are away.
Professional Grooming: Offering a variety of grooming treatments, from nail trims to full spa treatments, aimed at keeping pets' skin and fur clean and healthy. They note that regular bathing, trimming, and brushing are included.
Competition-Grade Dog Training Facilities: Providing dog training services, including 6-week obedience classes to help puppies and dogs learn commands and proper behavior. They also offer ring and space rentals.
Telehealth: Mentioned as part of Buffalo Veterinary Group services, this suggests the potential for connecting with a veterinarian remotely for advice or consultations, providing a modern convenience for pet owners.
Based on available information and customer feedback, PET DEGREE presents several features and highlights, though some areas warrant careful consideration:
Expert Veterinary Care (Dr. Josh and Techs): A consistent highlight in reviews is the quality of care provided by the veterinary team, particularly Dr. Josh and the technicians. They are frequently described as "great," "top-notch," "thorough, kind and reasonable," and "amazing." Dr. Josh is noted for his knowledge, compassion, and ability to explain procedures and ailments clearly. He is also described as an "amazing surgeon" and appreciative of taking a natural approach for senior dogs.
Comprehensive Pet Services Under One Roof: A key feature is the integration of veterinary services with doggy daycare, professional grooming, and dog training. This makes PET DEGREE a convenient "one-stop shop" for many pet owners seeking multiple services for their animals.
Focus on Preventive Medicine and Wellness: The facility emphasizes preventive care, including thorough examinations and tailored wellness programs, highlighting a proactive approach to pet health.
In-House Diagnostics: The presence of an in-house lab contributes to quicker diagnosis and potentially more immediate treatment, which is beneficial in urgent situations.
Client Testimonials Highlighting Veterinary Compassion: While there are noted issues with other aspects of the business, several reviews on their website and other platforms praise the veterinary staff's compassion, kindness, and attentiveness in person.
Areas for Consideration (as indicated by reviews):
Office Staff and Management Responsiveness: A significant concern raised in multiple reviews pertains to the responsiveness of the office staff and perceived poor management. Instances of unreturned phone calls, even for urgent matters like euthanasia requests, are highlighted. This suggests potential issues with communication and administrative efficiency.
Billing Accuracy/Transparency: One review mentions being charged for an extra injection, with voicemails regarding the discrepancy left unreturned. This points to potential issues with billing accuracy or responsiveness to billing inquiries.
Grooming Service Pricing: There are complaints about "excessive up charging of grooming services," with customers suggesting better value can be found elsewhere in the community for comparable "TenderLovingCare."
Facility Quality: While some sources describe the facility positively, one recent review refers to "overall poor quality facility," which might indicate inconsistencies or areas needing improvement.
For inquiries, appointments, or emergency needs for your pet, PET DEGREE can be contacted using the following information:
Address: 2055 Clinton St, Buffalo, NY 14206, USA
Phone: (716) 508-7387
Mobile Phone: +1 716-508-7387
It is generally advised to call in advance for appointments to ensure timely service. For emergency situations during operating hours, immediate phone contact is crucial to allow staff to prepare for your pet's arrival and provide prompt assistance. Given some customer feedback regarding phone responsiveness, it may be prudent to follow up if a call is not returned in a timely manner, especially for urgent matters.
For pet owners in Buffalo, NY, and the surrounding New York community, PET DEGREE presents a unique offering as a comprehensive pet care facility. Its suitability largely depends on what aspects of pet care are most prioritized by the individual owner.
On one hand, the consistently praised veterinary expertise of Dr. Josh and his technical team is a significant draw. For those seeking highly knowledgeable and compassionate medical care for their pets, especially for complex cases or seniors, the veterinary aspect of PET DEGREE appears to be a strong contender. The ability to receive a range of medical services, coupled with the convenience of an in-house lab, provides a solid foundation for pet health. The integrated model, offering grooming, daycare, and training under one roof, can be incredibly appealing for busy pet parents looking to streamline their pet care logistics.
However, it's crucial for local users to be aware of the recurring concerns highlighted in customer reviews regarding office staff responsiveness, communication, and potential issues with billing transparency or grooming pricing. For pet owners who prioritize seamless communication and administrative efficiency, or those particularly sensitive to pricing in non-veterinary services, these points warrant careful consideration. The experience with unreturned calls, especially concerning urgent matters like end-of-life care, is a serious concern that reflects negatively on overall client service, despite the quality of veterinary medicine.
In conclusion, PET DEGREE could be suitable for locals who highly value the medical expertise and compassionate approach of the veterinary team, particularly Dr. Josh. Those who also appreciate the convenience of integrated services (vet, grooming, training, daycare) in one location might find it beneficial. However, prospective clients should be prepared to potentially manage communication proactively and carefully review service charges, especially for non-veterinary aspects. For critical situations, having a backup emergency vet contact is always a wise precaution, as implied by the reviews. Ultimately, while the medical care provided by Dr. Josh and the techs is highly lauded, a full assessment of the "place" necessitates acknowledging the administrative challenges reported by some users.

PET DEGREE Reviews
Pet Degree was our vet for approximately 5 years and, while Dr Josh is great, the rest of the place is trash. I left a message on Saturday, March 1st asking if they had any openings that day for emergent Euthanasia for my 15 yr old dog. Not only did they not return a call (and yes, they were open til 3pm), but it is now Wednesday, 3/5/25, and I have STILL yet to receive a call back. Instead, my dog crashed overnight and had to be taken to OP vet Sunday morning, 3/2/25, unable to walk or move his head. My dog suffered because they couldn’t be bothered to return a phone call. Not only that, I had to pay $700 for using the emergency vet. And this is not the first time I have complained of this issue. The last time we were there in late summer, my dog was given 2 injections. When I came home, I noticed we were charged for 3. I left them two voicemails which were never returned. As great as Dr Josh is, the rest of the staff is terrible. Do better.
Mar 11, 2025 · Meghan StynAs far as the care from the vet team, there are no issues there. The vet (Dr Josh) and the techs are great. It seems to be the office staff and poor management that are in decline. NO phone calls back, excessive up charging of grooming services (there is no reason to pay $100 + for normal grooming services. You can easily obtain estimates from other neighborhood groomers and I promise you they will be lower for equal TenderLovingCare), and overall poor quality facility that are the downfall of PetDegree. It's unfortunate that any reputable veterinarian would put their name on this place. The negative reviews seem to be accurate so please take that into account before choosing this facility for your vet. There are FAR BETTER OPTIONS IN THE SAME COMMUNITY. DON'T SETTLE.
Jun 28, 2025 · Lauren GearyI came with friend who brings her dog here I was not impressed. It smells as soon as you come in . A dog pooped on the floor we informed the lady behind the desk owner picked up but still on floor staff couldn't be bothered . Receptionist was more concerned about her break and lunch she said she was there since 745 and it was 1130 really!!! Not a good vibe from this place . Just saying
May 09, 2025 · karen ryanDr. Josh was very knowledgeable, and understanding when I first came to him for answers as to why my doggie was all of a sudden diagnosed with stage 4 kidney failure. He took the time to figure it out with me and help me treat him to back to health. With the help of Dr. Josh and acupuncture this place is a blessing. Thank you Dr. JOSH.
Jun 21, 2025 · StacyAdding an edit: We saw a new vet and they did say she does have an enlarged tyroid, but they actually got back to us and mentioned she had stage 2, almost at stage 3 kidney failure. so because of the gross negligence of this establishment in particular because god forbid anyone does their job, its now basically too late for Karma. This place is absolutely horrible, and honestly don't go there. HOW HARD IS IT TO ANSWER A GODDAMN PHONE?!?!??! My partner's sister has been calling regarding her cat, an 11 year old tabby, who this vet had diagnosed with hyperthyroidism. First off it toom forever to get an appointment, then it took not one, not two, but THREE months to get her medicine for this issue. Which it doesn't seem like its even working now. poor kitty is declining in health and be oming more aggressive. So now she has been calling damn near every day to try to get her back in but god forbid this place does their job and either pick up the phone or call back. I IMPLORE EVERYONE TO SEE A DIFFERENT VET OFFICE. this place is only good at gross negligence if thats your kind of treatment in mind.
