The reason lies in their unique blend of professional expertise, modern convenience, and heartfelt compassion. They are more than just an animal hospital; they are a partner in your pet’s health. Customers rave about the fantastic care provided by the veterinarians, such as Dr. Appleby and Dr. Cherness, who are praised for their skill and genuine love for animals. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1We love Small Door! We have seen both Dr. Appleby and Dr. Cherness and they are both fantastic. Dr. Appleby performed a pretty difficult cyst removal on my pug and he did a great job. You can tell they truly love what they do and care for your animals like they would their own. The clinic is very clean and the rooms are very nice. I will be a Small Door customer forever!
August 26 · Allie WestCould not possibly have been happier with our experiences at Small Door! I took my cats to the 14th Street location in preparation for our upcoming international move. Both the vet and the assistant were so kind and helpful! My questions were answered fully, and--more importantly--my guys absolutely loved their new friends. Let me say this again: My cats *actively enjoyed* being at the vet. Great care and lovely atmosphere. Highly recommend!
July 21 · Bee BarnettI want to preface this by saying that Small Door has always provided excellent care for my cat's health. I truly appreciate the attention they’ve given her, and I trust their team with her well-being. However, my recent experience with their international travel services was nothing short of frustrating and disappointing.I paid nearly $1,000 for the international travel forms, expecting the process to be smooth given the high cost of the service. I submitted all the necessary paperwork a month in advance, and because I had done my research, I knew that an export appointment would be needed for my cat two weeks before travel. Unfortunately, I received no follow-up from the clinic, and when I called to confirm, I learned that there was no way to specify an export appointment via their online booking system.I called ahead of my wellness exam to ensure they understood that I needed an export exam, and they reassured me that everything was in order, even confirming that the vet was USDA-approved. When I arrived at the appointment, I was told that the exam would not qualify as an export exam—only a wellness exam—and that nothing had been done in advance regarding my travel documents. I was then asked to fill out an intake form again, which I was told wouldn’t be accepted and I would have to change my travel date because the USDA doesn’t expedite forms. As someone who worked for a congressman for two years, I knew that one can, in fact, expedite federal forms through their local representative’s office, and I had to explain this to multiple staff members before they would even consider submitting my paperwork with my intended travel date. When I finally booked the export exam, despite there being available appointments with a USDA vet the following day, I was told I’d need to wait two more days. This left me with even less time for the USDA to process the paperwork before my travel date. The export exam itself was essentially identical to the wellness exam, and it felt like Small Door could have used the same information to complete the travel forms instead of making the process so complicated. In all, it felt like I was doing most of the work, repeatedly clarifying things to staff who were not familiar with the process. It’s incredibly frustrating when you’re paying a premium for a service that should be handled efficiently, especially when it’s their responsibility to guide you through the steps. I requested to speak with a manager multiple times—both in person and through email/chat—but never received a response.I’ll continue trusting Small Door with my cat’s health, but I strongly advise anyone looking for help with international travel to look elsewhere. Their handling of this service was a major letdown, and I hope they take this feedback seriously to improve in the future.
August 29 · Kennedy SheltonMaking an appointment was so easy-so many times available to fit even my difficult schedule! The offices were so clean. The vet took great care and took time to get to know my dog and hear all of my concerns. The techs/nurses were so gentle and kind with so much care given! Highly recommend!
June 20 · Victoria PollokAmazing place! They took my dog in last minute even though it wasn't in their policy and literally treated him like he was royalty with treats, a comfy chair, and his own bowl of water. The vet was also very kind and took time to hear about my pets history which I really appreciatedThe front desk person was also extremely welcoming and offered me coffee while we waited for our appointment.
