Location and Accessibility
The Family Pet Veterinary Hospital is situated at 6005 15th Ave NW, Seattle, WA 98107, USA. This address places the clinic in the bustling Ballard neighborhood of Seattle, making it accessible for residents within Ballard and surrounding areas. 15th Ave NW is a major arterial road, providing a direct route for those traveling by car. As a well-established urban area, Ballard offers various parking options, though direct clinic parking availability may vary and is best confirmed prior to a visit. While the location is generally convenient for local residents, especially given its presence within a vibrant community, some client feedback has indicated challenges related to the clinic's operating hours and unexpected early closures, which can impact accessibility for picking up medications or scheduling appointments. For those relying on public transportation, several bus lines serve the 15th Ave NW corridor, connecting the clinic to other parts of Seattle. Despite its physical location being central to Ballard, the mentioned operational inconsistencies might require pet owners to plan their visits carefully, ensuring the clinic's hours align with their needs, particularly for urgent medication refills or unexpected pet issues.

The Family Pet Veterinary Hospital Reviews
We will not be returning to this vet. They do not prioritize quick recovery of animals and on multiple occasions have prolonged our puppy’s recovery for various issues she has had. It’s clear they would rather have you visit multiple times and delay recovery than provide the actual treatment needed (all eventual solutions were simple or ones that we were confounded they didn’t prescribe sooner after researching on our own). In the worst and most recent case, our puppy ended up getting pneumonia because she was not prescribed antibiotics in a timely manner when the vet incorrectly read their own records in her file and assumed they couldn’t provide her the necessary medicine at the time. They’ve not called us back on multiple occasions when we’ve needed to get crucial medicine refilled, even after stating they would call us back immediately in the most recent instance. Their hours are incredibly unconventional (not sure how a business justifies a 2 hr lunch break and being closed an entire weekday), and even today they unexpectedly closed early which caused my partner to cancel a doctor’s appointment just to ensure he could pick up medication for our puppy. The fact that they incapable of responding to their customers’ needs and somehow expect to keep clients is beyond me.Looking forward to finding a vet that is focused on our dog’s health and has the competency and ability provide the appropriate care.
Jul 23, 2025 · Alissa CampbellI’ll never forgive The Family Pet. My cat was an existing client of theirs in 2020 when she came down with a UTI (later diagnosed as caused by diabetes). I called The Family Vet to try to get in same day or the day after to help with the UTI situation. And they told me that they couldn’t see my cat and I should try elsewhere else.
May 02, 2025 · Andrew NatzelI have been using Family Pet for 5-6 years and the quality of care and communication seems to have declined in the past two or so years. While I like the staff and techs and veterinarians we’ve met there, they failed to follow up on my dog’s lab results, never told me he was overdue for vaccines, and said they were no longer able to cut his nails because he’s anxious about it. I ended up having to take him to an urgent care vet for a split dew claw and they were easily able to cut his nails using an additional anti anxiety medication and relaxing techniques the Family Pet didn’t try or suggest. His new vet is able to cut his nails just fine and we’re up to date on vaccinations with his new vet now.
Nov 09, 2024 · Mary Margaret LawWe went here for our yearly checkup and was told that our cat needed 2 teeth extractions. The vet told us that this is a common procedure and most cats get it done eventually. Our cat was eating fine and otherwise healthy. They gave us an estimate of $1,800-$3,200 which was an amount we could not afford. Of course, we love our cat and want to do everything we can for him. I asked around and contacted different veterinarians. All were shocked about the amount that we were estimated for. Therefore, we decided to get a second opinion somewhere else. We later found out that he did not need these 2 teeth extractions. And was charged less for your consultation, exam, and followup vaccinations compared to what I paid here at The Family Pet Veterinary Hospital. We were charged $30 for the checkup and $20 for each vaccine at this other place. The Family Pet Veterinary Hospital significantly over charged us with $80 for the checkup and $40-45 for each vaccine. Although the staff were friendly and communicative, I am appalled that they over charge their costumers SO much and am glad that we got a second opinion elsewhere. I would advise to not go here for your pets and look elsewhere.
