I do not recommend this place. We were told it would be $200To spay our cat. We only took her there because it was the only place we could get her in quickly. We dropped her off in the morning as instructed and expected toPick her up later that evening. We were later told they wanted to keep her overnight for observation. I have no idea if that is normal but I’m not sure anyone was actually there to ‘observe’ her.The next day we went to pick her up and it was over $400. We went home with ZERO instructions other than to give this antibiotic daily. Within minutes of being home the cat was obsessively licking at it, my husband called and they said ‘oh, we forgot to give you a cone. We close in 10 minutes.’ He rushed back to get the cone and was charged for that too. First of all- how do you forget that ??? Second, wouldn’t that be figured into the surgery price? She has a pretty large opening at the bottom of the incision, I mean large (like I seriously had nightmares her intestines were going toCome out). We called and there’s no one there, just a voice recording to call the emergency vet for concerns.I am so mad my husband didn’t just turn around and walk out after seeing what it looked like inside. I do not understand why we were quoted $200 and it was over $400. (Extra because she is in heat)🙄 I don’t recommend this place to anyone. I’ll be happy if the cat doesn’t get an infectionFind a different vet! - Michelle Fuhr

Services Offered

While specific detailed service lists were not provided, a typical veterinary clinic like The Village Vet generally offers a comprehensive range of services essential for maintaining the health and well-being of pets. These commonly include:

  • Preventative Care: This is the cornerstone of pet health and often includes annual wellness exams, vaccinations (such as rabies, distemper, parvovirus), parasite prevention (fleas, ticks, heartworm), and nutritional counseling. Preventative care aims to avoid serious health issues before they arise, saving pet owners from more extensive and costly treatments down the line.
  • Diagnostic Services: To accurately diagnose illnesses, veterinary clinics typically offer various diagnostic tools. These can include in-house laboratory testing (blood work, urinalysis, fecal exams), radiography (X-rays) for bone and organ imaging, and sometimes ultrasound.
  • Surgical Procedures: Many clinics perform routine surgical procedures such as spaying and neutering, which are crucial for population control and preventing certain health problems. They may also handle minor soft tissue surgeries, lump removals, and dental extractions. More complex surgeries might be referred to specialist veterinary surgeons.
  • Dental Care: Pet dental health is as important as human dental health. Services often include professional dental cleanings (under anesthesia), extractions of diseased teeth, and advice on at-home dental care to prevent gum disease and other oral issues.
  • Pain Management: Whether for acute injuries, chronic conditions like arthritis, or post-operative recovery, pain management is a vital aspect of pet care, ensuring comfort and promoting healing.
  • Nutritional Counseling: Vets often provide guidance on appropriate diets for pets of different ages, breeds, and health conditions, addressing concerns like obesity, food allergies, and specific dietary needs.
  • Behavioral Counseling: Some clinics offer basic advice on pet behavior issues, or can refer owners to certified animal behaviorists for more complex problems.
  • End-of-Life Care: When the time comes, compassionate euthanasia services and grief support are also often provided, helping pet owners navigate this difficult period with dignity and understanding.
