UrgentVet Introduce
For pet parents across South Carolina, especially those in the bustling Greenville area, unexpected pet illnesses or minor injuries often strike when your regular veterinarian's office is closed. These situations can be stressful, leaving you wondering where to turn. That's where UrgentVet steps in, bridging the gap between your primary care vet and a full-blown emergency hospital. Located conveniently in Greenville, UrgentVet provides a crucial service: prompt, compassionate, and affordable care for non-life-threatening conditions that simply can't wait until morning. This article will explore what makes UrgentVet a valuable resource for local pet owners seeking timely and efficient care for their beloved companions.
UrgentVet is strategically located at 553 Haywood Rd, Greenville, SC 29607, USA. Haywood Road is one of Greenville's major commercial arteries, making the clinic incredibly accessible from various parts of the city and surrounding communities like Simpsonville, Mauldin, and Taylors. Its presence in a well-trafficked area ensures that pet owners can easily find and reach the facility during those unexpected moments when their pet needs immediate attention. The convenience of its location, often with ample parking, helps alleviate some of the stress associated with a pet's sudden ailment. This accessibility means that South Carolina locals have a reliable option for urgent pet care, right within reach, without necessarily needing to navigate the higher costs and intense environment of a 24/7 emergency room for less severe issues.
UrgentVet specializes in providing care for a wide range of non-life-threatening illnesses and injuries in dogs and cats. They are designed to address issues that require prompt attention but are not severe enough for a full emergency veterinary hospital. Their services are available during evenings, weekends, and holidays, making them a perfect solution for after-hours needs.
Services Offered:
- Pet Sickness & Illness: Diagnosis and treatment for a variety of conditions, including vomiting, diarrhea, upset stomach, not eating or drinking, fever, coughing, sneezing, upper respiratory infections, urinary tract problems (frequency, straining, blood), and general malaise.
- Minor Injuries & Wounds: Care for cuts, scrapes, minor lacerations, abscesses, bites, stings, and toenail injuries. This includes cleaning, bandaging, and potentially suturing small wounds.
- Pain Management: Addressing conditions causing discomfort, such as back pain, mild lameness, limping, and trouble walking (e.g., sprains, strains, arthritis), with a focus on providing relief and determining the underlying cause.
- Skin & Ear Issues: Treatment for ear infections (head shaking, ear discharge), skin allergies (itching, rashes, hot spots), hives, and facial swelling.
- Other Urgent Concerns: Includes anal gland issues (scooting, biting), bad breath, lumps and bumps, vaccine reactions, and parasite assessments.
- Fracture Assessment: On-site imaging capabilities to assess the extent of potential fractures and recommend an appropriate treatment plan.
- Post-Op Incision Care: Monitoring and care for most post-operative incisions, including dressing application, infection checks, and home care advice.
- End-of-Life Care: Providing compassionate euthanasia services for pets nearing their end, offering a peaceful passing.
It is important to note that while UrgentVet handles a broad spectrum of urgent cases, they are not equipped for severe, life-threatening emergencies such as hit-by-car incidents, procedures requiring amputation, or conditions needing overnight hospitalization and intensive care. For such critical situations, immediate transfer to a full emergency veterinary hospital is recommended.

UrgentVet Reviews
Melissa and Dr. Burch were wonderful with our Shelby!! Honestly from the time we called until we were headed back home was 10 stars! We got right in and they were very thorough with their intake of her. I can’t recommend them enough!! I’ve already sent their info to our friends in case they are ever in need of an urgent veterinarian. Thank yall so much!!! Oh and the facility was clean, and easy to access. Checking in was a breeze too!
Jul 05, 2025 · Shanna MIt was Saturday morning and our normal vet was booked. Our little Millie was very sick. Our vet recommended Urgent Vet. The staff was very caring and attentive!! She was diagnosed with pancreatitis.Thank you for taking care of our sweet girl!
Jun 15, 2025 · Mandy DuttonURGENTVET - The Veterinarian and staff were more than fantastic!!!!!! Super friendly, warm, and caring! This was my experience:The clinic closes at 11:00pm; at 9:45 my 26yo son and I had to drive 45 minutes from Anderson because other clinics were full and not taking anymore animals. My son’s 18yo Bichon, “Studley”, a loving childhood pet, was injured and whimpering in severe pain. Normally, staff would rush and have an attitude for making everyone stay at work 40 min. past closing. Not the loving staff working here!!! The professional staff and Vet took every precaution during examination and even drew blood to make sure his kidneys and liver were functioning adequately before giving him anti-inflammatories and pain medication. We were educated by the Vet, on all medications and even a couple of vitamins to consider giving my geriatric pet at home to possibly increase his lifespan and were further explained in a take home folder. I knew exactly what I would be paying because all prices were presented up front before performing them.As a RN, BS, BSN, I wish doctors who treat human patients, cared as much and treated them as well as Laura Cain, DVM and her staff treated our Studley.
Jan 17, 2025 · Janice McalisterMelissa is the GOAT.Clean, welcoming, accommodating, & accessible facility & intake queue. Call ahead or walk on in. Water, snacks, charging station, & well maintained premises await.Melissa & Dr. Burch were exceptionally thorough. They compiled a complete comprehensive treatment plan that could be tailored to your budget. Melissa walked & talked you through the decision process & respected your decision. No pressure tactics. She & the team then delivered a job well done on my sweet Daisy Lou, who is recovering well.Highly recommend!
Jul 06, 2025 · Jordan HalleyWe were referred to UrgentVet by our primary vet. We had a great experience. Everyone was so friendly and thorough. The facility & treatment rooms were clean & quiet. Check-in was quick & easy. We really liked the nurse Melissa. She's so friendly & caring. We highly recommend UrgentVet.
