Upstate Vet Emergency & Specialty Care Reviews
This practice is PAWesome! I wish my human doctor was as good as this practice. I’ve had two pets treated on three instances and have been very impressed every time. They immediately took my dog back to numb and clean a would while he waited on the doc to see him. His comfort was a top priority. I am including before/after pics to show the high level of skill you can expect here. You can’t even see a scar on my dogs beautiful face because they did such a good job. ❤️
May 15, 2025 · Kathryn MendezMy cat Oliver had been struggling for years with overactive thyroid disease and other health issues. We'd had him since he was a tiny kitten. But as he kept getting older, the more his health deteriorated each passing year. His overactive thyroid started making him drop weight fast, as he was struggling daily to keep his thyroid medication down.Recently, over the weekend he took a massive turn for the worst out of the blue. Saturday he seemed a little lazier than usual. By Sunday morning he was refusing his food, barely able to drink water, and by Sunday night he started to stumble over and could barely stand up.I knew he was coming to his ending. And I knew I didn't want him suffering. So I googled the closest emergency vet near us, which was this place. I'd never been here before, never met anyone here before. I just didn't want to waste anymore time in helping my feline friend pass over peacefully.I walked in, and I was taken to the emergency department immediately and put into a room while I was holding on to Oliver. Everyone was so kind, patient and understanding. I knew Oliver and me were with kind hearts and souls during such a sad time. The entire euthanasia process was heartbreaking, but only because I had to say goodbye to my friend who'd been with us for over 12 years. The vet was so gentle and sweet.I'd chose to have Oliver cremated and returned as well as a clay paw print 🐾 they'd sent a kind and loving card in the mail. And his ashes, jar of hair and clay paw print were beautifully packaged and secure.I honestly was blown away by the amount of love and compassion from all the workers inside the building. Everyone here is doing such amazing work. This wasn't my first time having to go through a euthanasia process either. I've had to say goodbye to many old pets in my lifetime, as I truly believe it's the best gift to them when they're nearing the end of their time with us.Thank you all for showing such love, sympathy and compassion for Oliver and me 🐾 🐈 🧡
Jun 05, 2025 · Kayla C (Kayla)We had to bring our big girl there on a Friday night and they were outstanding. Dr. Neil and Nurse Kayla were so kind and compassionate during our girls transition. They had a nice quiet place to spend time with her and provided some food and treats and our request of chocolate. No one should ever go to heaven without a piece of chocolate 💕Rest easy Gigi 💔🌈
Jun 16, 2025 · Mary DaltonAwesome place! Fast, friendly and caring. They quickly took our cat, Cinnamon Roll, and checked her out where she had hurt her leg. The xray was done in no time, no breaks thank goodness, and she was prescribed some meds to help her with pain while she recovered. In and out in 30 minutes! Everyone, from front desk to the veternerians, were very nice. They also had a very neat single serve coffee maker that made very great tasting coffee (or tea or hot chocolate). I almost didn't have time to drink it cause how quick they were. I DEFINITLY recommend them!
Apr 26, 2025 · Michael EdmondMy baby, Max, began vomiting over the weekend (a week ago). By Sunday night, he was lying on the bathroom floor, and seemed to have shallow breathing. He didn’t care when I put him in the carrier, and did not make a sound during the 40 minute drive. I called them at the beginning of our drive, gave them the information on Max, and let them know when I would be there. When I walked in the door and told them that I had Max, he was immediately taken back to be examined. Long story short- Max had eaten what turned out to be 48 paper clips, tape, and topped it off with my hair. One of the paper clips got into his small intestine with a lot of my long hair. He had developed an obstruction. Dr. Rogers explained everything amazingly. She told me that if a ninja and a contortionist had a baby- it would be a cat. She discussed with me that he would need to be kept from jumping for two weeks and kept away from his two “brothers”- my other two cats because they would help him escape his surgical recovery onesie or his cone “of shame”. She told me that if she had time then she would take him to surgery before morning. She would “bury” his stitches- this way he would not have to have them cut out. In doing this, she said it would be very important to keep him from jumping for two weeks. I felt very blessed that she was able to take him to surgery that night. She called me after the surgery. Max did very well. She let me know what she had removed from his stomach, and would save it for me which she did. Most expensive paper clips that I ever bought! They needed to get a deposit from me for the base of what the surgery and hospital stay would cost. My card did not go through because I had a daily limit (I did not know that). The kind receptionist went and spoke with Dr Rogers, and given that I could not get a hold of my bank at 2 am, I gave what I could- what the card allowed, and they allowed me to call back later and give the full amount. They still took Max back and took care of him. I was very blessed with their kindness, understanding, and taking care of Max. I had to laugh at his X-rays, and Dr Rogers shared with me that she was in disbelief as well. We knew it was serious but she is a real person and we shared a laugh together. She did all of the blood work I had requested and taken the X-rays per my request because he had vomited a paper clip the week before and started eating again. This is why I had waited a little bit before bringing him in to them. She expressed understanding with that as I was feeling awful. I had a cat approximately 15 years prior that developed fatty liver and almost died because he stopped eating. This is why I requested the liver panel and checking his kidneys. She also checked to see if he was septic and/or anemic. He was neither, thanks be to God. When Dr Rogers called me to let me know how the surgery went, she explained everything that she had done and found during his surgery. He had woken up from anesthesia before she called me. She explained post surgical care and offered for me to come visit later in the day. Dr Bedwell called me to give me updates on Max. He came home on Wednesday, two days after his surgery and has done well. I did not feel that they stretched out his stay at all. They gave excellent care instructions. I felt very comfortable taking him home. I HIGHLY recommend them. They are very knowledgeable and kind when they have taken care of my babies. I had previously brought in another one of my cats and based on that visit, I knew where Max would get great care. I feel very blessed to have them in our community. I know where to take my babies if they get sick after hours. I thank God for them. Max is healing great, and his pain is controlled. I could not ever thank them enough!
