What is worth choosing
Choosing a veterinarian is a deeply personal decision, and VCA Antioch Animal Hospital - Deer Valley has a compelling case for being the right choice for many Californians. While one review points to a highly distressing and serious issue regarding communication and trust, it is important to balance this with the long-term, positive feedback from other clients to gain a complete perspective. The positive review, from a client with over seven years of experience with the hospital, highlights a consistent level of satisfaction that is difficult to replicate. This client "love Dr Sara Jacobsen," and praises her and the other vets for their "great bedside manner." The fact that their dogs "love her" speaks volumes about the compassionate care provided. This long-term relationship and the client's assertion that they have "tried other places and always found them to be the best" provides a strong, reliable endorsement of the hospital’s medical and professional quality. The "clean" office and "nice" staff further contribute to a positive and trustworthy environment. The presence of comprehensive services under one roof—including medical care, dental procedures, grooming, and boarding—offers immense convenience for busy pet owners. The hospital's accreditations and Fear Free Certified professionals also demonstrate a commitment to providing a stress-reduced environment, which is especially important for anxious animals. While the negative review about a communication and trust issue after a pet's euthanasia is deeply concerning and highlights a potential for serious lapses, it should be weighed against the consistent, positive experiences of long-standing clients. The dedication of the staff and the high-quality medical services, from routine care to advanced surgical procedures, remain core strengths of the practice. For pet owners in the Antioch area, VCA Antioch Animal Hospital - Deer Valley offers a full-service, professional, and often deeply compassionate option for their pet's health, making it a worthy choice for those who value comprehensive care and a positive atmosphere.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Love Dr Sara Jacobsen, the other vets are also great, she’s my favorite. Great bedside manner my dogs love her! The staff is nice, office is clean. Prices are moderate. Have attended here for more then 7 years. I have tried other places and always found them to be the best.
May 13 · Femke TroutI never had any complaints about Antioch Animal Hospital until someone there LIED. I unexpectedly had to euthanize my dog, Maggie, in December 2024. The vet that did it was actually wonderful. However, what happened after that soured everything. I trusted someone would call when her ashes were ready to be picked up. They did call in February 2025 saying her ashes had been there since December and if I didn't pick them up within a week they would return them to the cremation company. They also said, "it looks like we did try multiple voicemails and also text messaging, but that didn't go through." I was so distraught, I rushed over there IMMEDIATELY and told them I hadn't received a single voice message or text message. I verified they had the correct home number. Obviously they did as I had just received a call from them. I have a physical answering machine as well as Xfinity voice mail that will accept voicemail if the line is busy. There was no way I would have missed a call where both my machine and Xfinity voicemail would have failed. I checked to see if they had the correct cell phone. They did. The last text from them was August 2024. The person there told me that's what my file said. I said that it was impossible and someone there lied. When I got home, I checked Xfinity's call log to my home number. It went back as far as November 2024 and shows I hadn't received any calls from them until that day. So it verifies that someone there lied about calling multiple times. I called them to let to know. They didn't seem to care. I dread to think what would have happened if someone didn't call that February. Would they have just returned her ashes to the cremation company and just lied about having called me that final time as well? I have since then found a new vet. I cannot trust an animal hospital where someone there has no qualms about lying. And it's disappointing and questionable that having a visibly distressed crying person in their lobby didn't even prompt them to try to figure out what had gone wrong. If I could have given them 0 stars, I would have.
June 21 · Maggie Penny the DogI have had great service from VCR in antioch. They always call the day after an appointment to check on my dog and see that he's OK. I think that's so nice of them.
July 10 · Alesha PizialiThis place it great and super friendly. I've been going here for years. They keep the place clean and tidy, clean the room between each patient and provide the best information to you so your furry one has the best care. Highly recommend goin here for your furry ones.
April 11 · Sandeep KumarI waste my time on this clinic, they promote themselves online and they offer you appointments that they don't honor. After I waste 20 minutes coming here they say they are not connected with their app/webpage and they only have appointments for next week. On these days how can you offer appointments online that are not valid.
