Hands down, the best experience of any vet I have had in the west, east, and gulf coast. What an amazing team of people. Humanity at its finest. Our fur baby went here for mid years and the last year of her life and we could not have made a better choice.They will do everything possible to love your loved ones.

I am leaving 2 stars and not 1 because of how lovely the staff are. I took my cat here last year due to issues over grooming. They suspected allergies and prescribed steroids only for him to develop a kitty cold and become worse. I brought him back a second time, got blood work, and was told it was feline herpes virus. He eventually got better but his over grooming never stopped. Went back a THIRD TIME, to be given steroids again that made him develop ANOTHER kitty cold to only be told that steroids make herpes virus worse… then why give me the steroids when you know he has herpes? Got a special shampoo afterwards. His over grooming went away for a few weeks only for it to come back. Now he’s dry heaving.Turns out, the blood work they did LAST YEAR showed an elevated SDMA which is indicative of bad kidney function. All of his symptoms are indicative of this. No one told me anything about it. Had to get a second opinion to get this confirmation. Never going here again. The way I felt dismissed and told he had allergies over and over again when he’s never had allergies in his life was enough.

I've been to 3 different vets in the NW Austin area. Too expensive and heavy on the sales pitch: teeth cleaning, fleas (there were no fleas), wellness exam, X-rays read by a radiologist, bloodwork. I walked in wanting to get my cat her shots. They wanted $650 for shots and a wellness exam. I passed on the wellness exam. I went to ACA today, and I couldn't be happier with my new vet. They were quick to see her. Brandon, the vet tech, was wonderful. Dr. Wood was wonderful. Checking out was quick and easy. They don't charge for the first exam, so my bill was only for medication. And it's closer to home than the others! We had a great experience today with ACA! Thank you :)

I have sat on these feelings and thoughts for three days. On Thursday, 06/18/2025 I found the smallest kitten in my yard. He was skin and bone (1lbs), covered in fleas, and clearly lacked the use of one of his legs. The other rear leg was also injured. At this point in time, I had barely handled the kitten for fear he was in dire pain with actively broken bones.I came in the next morning almost as soon as they opened and took responsibility for him, prepared to pay whatever I needed to get him the urgent attention he needed. The vet saw him and as she explained his circumstances I felt some relief. She said that he had been neglected for some time, and that he would need an xray, his bad leg would never have functioned again and would need to be amputated, that his wounds had been healing for some time and it would be best to leave them as they were, but most importantly that he appeared to be in good shape otherwise.She was most certainly incorrect. She seemed to neglect the wound on the opposite side of his leg, as she made no mention, but I determined later the large wound was actually infected and still in extremely poor shape (pieces of torn skin were hanging from his wound). She made no suggestion for antibiotics for his infected wound or wound creams to help him heal. Made no mention that the fleas that had been eating him alive had left him critically anemic to the point his gums were white as bone. She did not suggest any vitamin supplements to help him in his recovery. She did not warn me about the signs associated with a crashing kitten, nor about how quickly it can happen. She did not give me suggestions for at home critical care or even mention that he needed any. She did not suggest any blood tests nor any iv fluids.She sent me home with an email and nothing else, and I felt grateful for the “peace of mind” they gave me. The next day, the kitten ate, drank, and even walked around some in the morning and by 4 PM the very same day he was dead. We rushed him first to the vet we have in Manor, TX, who denied being able to help, then to the emergency veterinarian in Austin. But he died on the way in our arms. To say I’m crushed, is an absolute understatement. The veterinarian who saw him failed to properly analyze the situation and his condition. Was grossly negligent in giving me the valuable information I needed to support him. The veterinarian that saw him that day (I cannot remember her name but she was blonde), failed him. It is so clear that there is a gross desensitization to the needs of emergencies with strays, even when there are people so willing to support them. I wish I had never come to their clinic. I wish I had never trusted them with little Hawk. I wish she had been willing to save him, in the same way that I was. Now he's gone.

I have had both great and so-so experiences here over the years. Ultimately I think it depends on who specifically treats your pet. I will say that Dr Ortiz has been spectacular. She truly takes the time to listen and conducts a very thorough exam. You can tell she genuinely cares about your pet’s needs rather than money being at the forefront. She is in absolutely no rush when listening to my cats heartbeat and I really appreciate her taking the time to not just hold a stethoscope on my animal for 3 seconds, rather she made it a point to spend significant time examining the anatomy of my cat to feel for any abnormalities. Somevets just literally spend one minute looking at your animal without checking ears and teeth etc only to charge you with a $100 plus bill, but Dr Ortiz is fantastic vet who studies everything. Brandon, one of the vet technicians is very compassionate and patient when it comes to answering questions and he is a great asset to Arbor Animal Hospital. -A very calm demeanor which helps in relaxing pets with anxiety. There is also another woman there(I cannot remember her name) who is so sweet and helpful when my cats need nail trims. At times, some of the front desk staff who set the tone for the establishment have been quite unenthusiastic when greeting you at the door or speaking to you on the phone. Sometimes I just wonder what has happened with acknowledging clients in a friendly and welcoming tone. I know that is not an easy job because there are a lot of impatient and rude people within customer service to deal with, but just simple things like saying” hello” when you walk in “have a nice day” when you leave…. it’s the little things that really go a long way and make clients feel thankful they chose this clinic. Today’s visit was fantastic from everyone! The front desk staff AND Doctors/techs so I really appreciate it so much. Thanks again for doing what you do to help save and treat these animals.
