VCA Salem Animal Hospital Reviews
I love this vet and recommend them all the time. Both my dogs are spooked at the vet and one of them is a pit mix who resorts to biting when he’s uncomfortable. My last vet ignored my request to hold him the right way and said “just pet him firmly and he’ll focus on that instead”. He was muzzle punched in the face with a wire muzzle and fell to the floor. So, I let my dog’s shots expire a bit because it wasn’t worth the risk of someone else getting hurt due to how they operate, and tried them out after a friend recommended them. This vet is the TOTAL opposite! From the first appointment they let me hold him and feed him a bunch of treats. We troubleshooted along the way and we got through it without anyone getting hurt or excessively stressed 🥳 They took their time and used lots of food when they could. After his first exam we decided to make another appointment for the biopsy and they gave us sedatives before hand. We made it through the appointment without anyone getting hurt! Well, besides his toe but that doesn’t count. They let the owner sit in the drivers seat when it’s necessary, unlike some vets. I love that and they’ve been great working with me and my scaredy cats ❤️
May 21 · Joy ArnholtzMy beloved cat had a dental cleaning and some extractions done here. The surgical nurse, Lisa, was straight forward, compassionate, and patient. She kept me updated with progress, took care of my boy, and answered all my questions. He ended up needing 13 teeth removed.Dr. Madeline Frey went above and beyond for my boy and I will forever appreciate the care they provided both of us.The reception staff were also wonderful. And they let me keep my cat's teeth!
April 04 · Morgan S.I made an emergency visit for my cat Jagger and had him put down due to a huge tumor. He was a very loved and old cat and vca was very awesome and nice through the whole ordeal. What I didn’t expect was a signed card from the staff! I don’t agree with the price but appreciate the staff sending me a card. Thank you vca for your support! You all are awesome!!!!
April 21 · Jayme ShraderI travel on contract for work every few months and could not get into a vet in Salem. I’m so thankful for this place. They allowed us to get in and they were kind and the doctor was knowledgeable and kind as well. He gave her anesthesia for a dew claw issue and it went well. These types of urgent cares rarely get good reviews, but we should all be thankful that they exist, or nothing would be open for our babies!
August 18 · Autumn Atkinsonthe worst clinic, found a cat on the street, skin problems, diarrhea. asked to prescribe medication. refused to prescribe medication, for cleaning the cat's ears with a cotton swab, I paid $300. pumping money out of animals' health!!! animals will not ask for help, we are their voice!! why such injustice, why such clinics????
