Northwest Veterinary Imaging Introduce
In the Washington region, when a pet's health concern goes beyond a routine examination, pet owners and their primary veterinarians often turn to specialized diagnostic services. Northwest Veterinary Imaging (NVI) is a trusted name in this field, offering advanced veterinary imaging that provides a clearer picture of an animal's internal health. Located in Mountlake Terrace, this practice is not a general vet clinic but a dedicated resource for diagnostic ultrasound and other related procedures, serving as a critical partner to general practitioners and pet owners alike.
NVI's mission is to provide high-quality and timely imaging services with exceptional client support. They specialize in a non-invasive diagnostic technique called ultrasound, which uses sound waves to create real-time images of a pet's internal organs and tissues. This technology is invaluable for diagnosing a wide range of conditions, from internal bleeding and tumors to organ abnormalities and chronic diseases. By focusing exclusively on diagnostic imaging, NVI ensures that its veterinarians and staff are experts in their field, providing precise and detailed reports that help referring veterinarians formulate the best treatment plans.
Northwest Veterinary Imaging is conveniently located at 23914 56th Ave W, Mountlake Terrace, WA 98043, USA. The clinic's location is easy to access for residents from surrounding areas like Seattle, Edmonds, and Everett. They offer ample parking with options for a free parking lot and free street parking, making it easy to bring your pet for their appointment.
The facility is designed to be welcoming and inclusive for all visitors. It features a wheelchair accessible entrance, a wheelchair accessible parking lot, and a wheelchair accessible restroom, as well as wheelchair accessible seating. The clinic is also a LGBTQ+ friendly and transgender safespace, demonstrating a commitment to creating a comfortable environment for everyone. They operate on an appointment-required or appointment-recommended basis, ensuring that each visit is managed efficiently and pets receive dedicated attention without long wait times.
Northwest Veterinary Imaging's services are highly specialized, focusing on providing comprehensive internal views of a pet's body. They work primarily with referring veterinarians to offer these advanced diagnostics.
- Diagnostic Ultrasounds:
- Abdominal Ultrasound: This is a key service for assessing organs in the abdomen, such as the liver, kidneys, pancreas, and spleen. It helps in diagnosing conditions like tumors, cysts, and inflammation.
- Thoracic Ultrasound: Used to evaluate structures within the chest cavity, this can help identify issues with the lungs, heart, and surrounding tissues.
- General and Small Animal Ultrasound: Comprehensive ultrasound exams for a wide range of conditions in cats and dogs.
- Ultrasound-Guided Procedures:
- Fine Needle Aspirates (FNA): A non-surgical method for collecting small tissue or fluid samples from organs or masses for further analysis.
- Tru-Cut Biopsy: A more involved procedure to obtain a larger tissue sample for a definitive diagnosis. This is performed with precision using ultrasound guidance.
- Mobile Ultrasound Services:
- NVI provides mobile ultrasound services where a specialist travels to a referring veterinarian's clinic. This allows pets to receive advanced diagnostics in the comfort of their familiar environment, which can reduce stress.
- Additional Services:
- Outpatient services for animals that are brought to the clinic.
- Ultrasound training for other veterinarians and veterinary professionals.
What makes Northwest Veterinary Imaging a leading choice for diagnostic care in Washington is its combination of specialized expertise, compassionate care, and seamless collaboration with local veterinarians.
- Specialized Expertise: As a practice dedicated solely to diagnostic imaging, NVI’s veterinarians and staff possess a deep level of knowledge and skill. Their reports are thorough and detailed, providing referring veterinarians with the precise information needed to make an accurate diagnosis and treatment plan.
- Timely and Thorough Service: As one client noted, the clinic was able to provide a next-day appointment for a pet with a suspected serious illness, which is a rare and invaluable service. The staff and doctors also ensured the owner received a thorough explanation of the results and clear recommendations.
- Compassionate Patient Care: Despite being a highly technical practice, NVI is recognized for its compassionate approach. The staff and doctors provide TLC (Tender Loving Care) to pets who are not feeling well, as highlighted in a client review. This caring approach helps to make a potentially stressful experience more comfortable for both pets and their owners.
- Collaborative Model: NVI works in a critical support role for primary care veterinarians. By providing detailed, specialized reports and consultations, they help improve the quality of medicine offered across the local veterinary community. This partnership ensures that pets get the best of both worlds: a trusted family vet and access to specialized diagnostic tools.
- Accessibility and Inclusivity: The clinic goes above and beyond with its accessibility features and its commitment to being a welcoming and safe space for all members of the community, which is a significant highlight for many pet owners.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1My regular veterinarian referred our cat Eddie to NVI for an ultrasound and samples due to suspicion of cancer. The clinic is conveniently located, has ample parking, a friendly and efficient staff at the front desk, and compassionate doctors and staff. Dr. Bassin kept us informed of the results as she received more information and made sure that we had a thorough explanation of the results and provided recommendations for further testing. We were able to get an appointment the next day and we’re given a very thorough estimate so that there we no surprises. I highly recommend NVI for anyone whose furbabies need TLC while not feeling well.ETA: sadly, we lost Eddie on 12/03/2023 to cancer that grew quickly. We miss him very much
March 08 · Jennifer E. BollenThe staff at NW Vet Imaging was so kind and responsive! They took great care of our cat and provided a very thorough review of her results. Thank you so much!
August 16 · Jennye CooperGo somewhere else. And if your local vet offers an ultrasound that uses this business to do the ultrasound don't accept it. They are only on site for 30 minutes to do the ultrasound. So, if there is any complication it will be a total waste of time as they don't have enough time to do it properly if anything goes wrong.Because of the time constraint I mentioned above the ultrasound they performed at my vet wasn't conclusive enough to identify what was wrong with my cat. I had to reschedule a visit at their office to get it done properly.I drove through morning traffic to get to their office at 9am and drop off my cat. They said she would be ready for pickup late morning early afternoon. By the time I get home I notice I have two text messages that say my pet is ready to be picked up less than fifteen minutes after I dropped her off. I call their office three times to be sure this is correct and no one answers the phone.A few minutes after entering my home they call me and ask if I saw the texts. I don't read texts while driving so no. And then they had the nerve to imply I need to hurry back because my cat is very agitated.I drive through traffic again back to their office to pick up my pet. I get her home and she reeks of urine and feces because she had an accident in her carrier. She had an accident in her carrier because she was in her carrier for too long in a strange place. Now I get to wash all my sheets and couch cushions because my cat is so agitated I can't clean her off until she calms down. All of that could have been avoided if they had just told me to wait in the lobby for FIFTEEN MINUTES.
June 09 · Christian FreibothI never imagined I’d have to write a review like this, but pet owners deserve to know the truth about how Northwest Veterinary Imaging operates. Our beloved dog, Sealy, is fighting for her life. After weeks of persistent illness, we took every step possible to get her the care she needed—spending thousands of dollars on bloodwork, X-rays, an ultrasound, and other diagnostics. When the ultrasound revealed enlarged lymph nodes, the vet recommended a PARR test to determine if she has lymphoma. Here’s where this clinic’s appalling practices come into play:Despite already having the sample from Sealy’s lymph node aspirate, they had the audacity to charge us $670 just to send it for testing. That’s hundreds of dollars more than many other veterinary labs charge for the exact same test. They are profiting off of pet owners in crisis, exploiting the emotional and financial vulnerability of people who just want to save their animals. It is absolutely disgusting that a veterinary practice—one that should be about care, compassion, and ethics—would engage in this kind of price-gouging. What’s even worse is that they know we are already financially exhausted from doing everything we can for our dog, yet they offer no flexibility, no options, and no justification for why their price is so absurdly inflated. This isn't just a business transaction—this is our family member’s life. And Northwest Veterinary Imaging has made it clear that they care more about their bottom line than about the well-being of the animals they are supposed to serve. To any pet owner considering this facility: BEWARE. If you go here, be prepared to be taken advantage of when you’re at your most desperate. If you have any other options, I strongly urge you to look elsewhere for a clinic that actually cares about animals and their families.Shame on you, Northwest Veterinary Imaging. You should be helping families like ours, not making it harder for us to fight for the pets we love.
March 12 · Cameron Cagle (Solivire)They were able to get my cat in on very short notice, we emailed on Saturday and was surprised to see that someone responded despite it being the weekend! We got an appointment for Monday morning, and they called us very quickly with the results. The staff was very kind. Hopefully we don't have to be back for a while, but we will definitely come back if we ever need another ultrasoundMari says thank you!
