---Vetco Vaccination Clinic specializes in providing essential preventive veterinary care. Their service model is designed to be efficient and cost-effective, focusing on the most common and crucial aspects of pet health maintenance. Here's a breakdown of the typical services offered:
Vaccinations: This is the core service. Vetco offers a full range of core and lifestyle-dependent vaccinations for both dogs and cats. For dogs, this includes Distemper, Adenovirus, Parvovirus, Parainfluenza (DA2PP), Rabies, Bordetella, Leptospirosis, and sometimes Canine Influenza. For cats, vaccinations typically include Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus, Panleukopenia (FVRCP), Rabies, and Feline Leukemia (FeLV) for at-risk cats. They cater to puppies and kittens requiring a series of shots, as well as adult pets needing boosters.
Microchipping: A vital service for pet identification, microchipping significantly increases the chances of reuniting lost pets with their families. Vetco clinics provide quick and easy microchip implantation.
Heartworm Prevention and Testing: Annual heartworm testing for dogs is typically available, along with various options for heartworm prevention medication. This is a crucial service, as heartworm disease can be deadly if left untreated.
Flea and Tick Prevention: Vetco often carries a selection of prescription and over-the-counter flea and tick preventative medications, and they can advise on the best options for your pet based on their lifestyle and local parasite risks.
Deworming: Routine deworming for intestinal parasites is offered, especially important for puppies and kittens, and as a preventative measure for adult pets.
Basic Diagnostic Testing: Beyond heartworm, they may offer basic diagnostic tests like FELV/FIV testing for cats.
Physical Exams/Vitals Check (Focused): While not a comprehensive full-service hospital exam, Vetco clinics perform vital checks and focused physical assessments to ensure the pet is healthy enough for vaccinations. This ensures a veterinarian is assessing the pet prior to administration of any treatments.
Nail Trims: Often available as an add-on service to keep your pet's nails at a healthy length.
It's important to note that Vetco Vaccination Clinics generally do not perform complex surgeries, emergency care, or treat chronic illnesses. Their focus is specifically on preventive wellness services.
---Vetco Vaccination Clinic in Bowie boasts several key features that make it a standout choice for local pet owners:
Affordable Pricing: One of the most significant advantages of Vetco is its commitment to low-cost services. By specializing in preventive care, they can offer vaccinations, microchipping, and parasite control at prices often considerably lower than full-service veterinary hospitals. They typically do not charge separate "exam fees" for these focused visits, which can lead to substantial savings.
Convenience and Accessibility: Located within Petco, the clinic offers unparalleled convenience. The walk-in model (for most services) means you don't always need to schedule an appointment weeks in advance, fitting easily into busy schedules. This accessibility encourages regular preventive care.
Compassionate and Professional Staff: Numerous customer reviews highlight the welcoming, patient, and genuinely caring nature of the staff, including both the veterinarians and vet technicians. Pets, even those typically anxious at the vet, often receive a positive experience, as noted by customer testimonials.
Efficiency and Speed: The streamlined process means pets are often seen quickly, minimizing stress for both the animal and the owner. This is particularly appreciated for routine services like vaccinations.

Vetco Vaccination Clinic Reviews
I just want to give a big heartfelt THANK YOU to the team at Vetco. From the moment I walked in, I felt like Juno and I were in good hands. You can tell they genuinely care—not just about the pets, but about the people too. The process was easy, the prices were more than fair, and they took their time answering all my questions without rushing us through.Juno got her 2nd set of puppy vaccines, a full check-up, and lots of love from the staff—tail wagging the whole time. That tells me everything I need to know. 🐾Highly recommend if you want kind, competent care without the hefty price tag. I’ll definitely be back.
Jul 01, 2025 · Marlene PlumleyThe staff was very welcoming! This was our first trip to this location. They were very patient with each "patient" and took time to address any questions or concerns. We are pleased and will return for another visit!Mia Cookie approves this message!
Apr 07, 2025 · MICHELE CAMPBELLI have been bringing my dogs to petco/Vetco for about three years now, and every time it’s time for my dogs updated shots, there’s a new doctor attending us but all have always been pleasant. The female doctor that was there on Sunday Dec 15th was NOT. She was VERY passive aggressive towards me when I declined a shot she “recommended” for my dog. I told her I would research it more and think about it and for some reason this irritated her because her attitude was very dismissive after. She made me feel very uncomfortable and I’m really debating if I’m ever going to go back to this location. To say she is a veterinarian and is suppose to make owners and pets very comfortable, it was very much the opposite. She just looked upset like she was mad to be working on a Sunday. I don’t know but God bless her anyway.
Dec 17, 2024 · Stephanie MedinaIf you go please make sure your dog is treated by the older gentleman. NOT the absolute KAREN that works there. I had a 4:30 appointment and I won’t lie, I was ten minutes late due to traffic. We made it there for our follow up vaccine and before we could even introduce ourselves she said “NO NOPE NO” thankfully the gentleman that was there was kind enough to explain to us kindly that had technically missed the appointment. He asks this Karen what she wants to do regarding our appointment. This whole time this karen keeps saying “NOPE, ABSOLUTELY NOT, YOU MISSED YOUR APPOINTMENT NOPE” while getting visibly red and angrier with each statement.I get that I missed my appointment by ten minutes. However, that does not warrant such rudeness and anger. The rest of the staff there is phenomenal in my opinion and I came here a couple of months ago and the older gentleman was much nicer about the whole process. This lady needs a reality check, and probably a different job. It cost nothing to be nice.
Aug 03, 2024 · Jason AvilaThis place was ABSOLUTELY the worst experience I have EVER had with my dog. Not only did it feel degrading these individuals do NOT need to be in this field.Today my dog had an appointment at 4:54 PM.I had received automated texts days before the appointment to confirm. In which I did.I work in HEALTHCARE, and even if I didn’t I’m well aware it’s best &(especially if it’s a first time appointment)-to arrive early. At 2:30 PM - I start getting unsolicited texts asking if I was coming to my appointment? I responded “yes”..I then get asked if I would like to come early, if not to be sure I arrive 10 mins prior to.I responded stating I was unable to come early, as I had prior engagements, but I would arrive between 10-20 mins earlier than the appointment time.I then get a response stating that was fine, but I needed to make sure I was on time or they would not see me.The continuous telling me to be on time after already stating I would, was already the first red flag, and unnecessary.I get there for a WELLNESS EXAM and shots my dog was due for. They check his weight.. that’s it. Just like another review .. NO temperature check. No nothing …They start drawing my dogs blood ..after they give shots he’s due for. They then go into needing to administer items to my dog’s mouth. At times my dog is purely SCARED .. just like a child would be when going to the DOCTOR, because they’re smart and KNOW what it entails!Instead of being understanding to my dog showing SIGNS of being scared, and simply shaking his head not wanting anything in his mouth… KAREN continued to huff and puff COMPLAINING that my dog wouldn’t take the items…. She then asks that I do it…What? I’m not a vet or a vet assistant… but with direction I was kind enough to try. Unfortunately my dog continued to keep his mouth closed and hide his head in between my legs. At this point KAREN is saying things like “what is wrong with him what’s his problem” repeatedly. How dare someone in a medical field respond to an animal or human in that manner! She ends up putting it in a treat where my dog eventually eats the treat. They then give me another item to administer at home because they didn’t care to try any further. Which was fine. With the amount of unprofessionalism that took place within the TEN mins or LESS that I was there was I was ready to go!. Their attitudes and body language showed that they were ready to immediately go home.Which brought me back to the text, asking that I come early prior to the appointment time. This is YOUR JOB. YOU chose this field.IF you are unhappy and don’t care to do the job with compassion … FIND ANOTHER JOB.Whoever the manager is needs to speak specifically with KAREN. Because her care free, annoyed attitude was beyond me.I will NEVER return. I was looking for a NEW vet due to moving but will NEVER be back and I encourage ANYONE LOOKING to go here PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE go elsewhere. The VET Also left before my visit was over which I found unprofessional too. But hey maybe this is petcos standards. Smh
