Veterinary Emergency Group Introduce
For pet owners in Tennessee, especially in the bustling Nashville area, the sudden onset of a pet emergency can be an incredibly stressful and frightening experience. In such critical moments, having access to immediate, compassionate, and highly skilled veterinary care is not just a convenience, but a necessity. The Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG) in Nashville, TN, has quickly established itself as a leading and truly revolutionary option for urgent and critical pet care, offering a unique approach that prioritizes both the animal's well-being and the pet owner's need for involvement and reassurance.
VEG was founded on a singular mission: to help people and their pets when they need it most. They have effectively revolutionized the pet emergency experience with a customer-centered approach, rapid response times, and a highly trained emergency-focused staff. Unlike traditional emergency clinics where pet owners might be separated from their animals, VEG embraces an open-floor plan model, allowing owners to stay by their pet's side throughout the entire treatment process, from initial assessment to recovery. This innovative philosophy transforms a typically anxious waiting period into a transparent and supportive experience, making a world of difference for Nashville families during a pet crisis.
Veterinary Emergency Group is conveniently located at 3736 Annex Ave #100, Nashville, TN 37209, USA. This strategic location in Nashville’s Annex Avenue area makes it highly accessible for residents across the city and surrounding communities in Tennessee. For locals in West Nashville, this means a shorter travel time during an emergency, which can be crucial when every second counts.
The clinic's position ensures ease of access whether arriving by personal vehicle or rideshare, with parking typically available to accommodate urgent arrivals. 24/7 Emergency and Critical Care: VEG is open around the clock, every day of the year, ensuring that urgent medical attention is always available for pets experiencing life-threatening conditions or severe injuries.
Immediate Triage and Veterinary Consultation: Upon arrival, pets are quickly triaged by skilled staff. A unique aspect of VEG is their commitment to connecting owners directly with a veterinarian for initial questions and guidance, even before arrival, which is incredibly comforting in a crisis.
Advanced Diagnostics: The hospital is equipped with state-of-the-art diagnostic tools, including in-house lab capabilities for rapid blood work and urinalysis, digital radiography (X-rays) for immediate imaging of fractures or foreign bodies, and ultrasound for soft tissue imaging. These technologies enable quick and accurate diagnoses.
Emergency Surgery: For injuries or conditions requiring immediate surgical intervention, VEG performs various emergency surgeries, from soft tissue procedures to addressing trauma and internal issues.
Hospitalization and Monitoring: Pets requiring intensive care or continuous monitoring can be hospitalized in a dedicated ICU, staffed by veterinarians and technicians 24 hours a day to ensure constant attention and immediate response to changes in condition.
Pain Management: A crucial aspect of emergency care, VEG focuses on effective pain management strategies to keep pets as comfortable as possible during their recovery.
Blood Transfusions: Access to blood products can be life-saving in cases of severe anemia or trauma, and many VEG locations maintain a blood bank or have access to one for urgent needs.
Care for a Variety of Pets: While commonly treating dogs and cats, VEG also has emergency doctors trained to treat a wide array of animals, including pocket pets, birds, and reptiles.
Veterinary Emergency Group’s approach to emergency care is marked by several distinctive features that make it a standout choice for pet owners in Tennessee:
Client-Inclusive Care Model: This is perhaps VEG's most revolutionary feature. Pet owners are allowed and encouraged to stay with their animals throughout the entire emergency process, from intake to procedures and recovery. This transparency reduces stress for both pets and their humans, fostering a sense of control and comfort during a difficult time.
Direct Vet-to-Client Communication: As highlighted in a customer review, VEG goes the extra mile by connecting callers directly to a veterinarian to answer questions even before arrival. This immediate professional advice is invaluable in a crisis, helping owners determine the best course of action and preparing them for their visit.
Exceptional Compassion and Empathy: Beyond medical expertise, VEG consistently receives praise for its highly compassionate staff. In moments of heartbreak, such as a pet's passing, their team is described as kind, present, patient, and clear in their explanations, offering invaluable emotional support and thoughtful gestures like paw prints.
Rapid Response and Efficiency: From quickly taking pets into a room upon arrival to efficient diagnostic processes, VEG is designed for speed and effectiveness, which are paramount in emergency situations. Their focus on emergency care means they are optimized for rapid assessment and treatment.
Open Floor Plan and Transparency: The hospital's design allows owners to see the care their pets are receiving, promoting trust and peace of mind. This open environment, including specialized rooms for contagious conditions like parvo that allow natural light, contributes to a less stressful experience for the animals.
24/7/365 Availability: Emergencies don't follow a schedule, and VEG's continuous operation ensures that help is always available, day or night, weekends or holidays.

Veterinary Emergency Group Reviews
VEG is revolutionary. Being able to stay with my cat, and be there for him, made the whole experience less scary and stressful for us both. Jonah could have died, but the VEG docs and staff acted quickly and he's now back home and happy. I've never had as good an experience at an emergency clinic. Thank you, VEG!
May 26, 2025 · Elizabeth TeSelleWhen my Bengal cat, Bella, suddenly lost the use of her back legs, I was scared and didn’t know where to turn. I called a few places and couldn’t get her seen immediately, but after a referral, I finally found VEG. I had a couple of questions, and to my surprise, they connected me directly to the vet—which was such a rare and comforting thing in the middle of a crisis. When I arrived, someone opened the door for us and we were taken straight into a room. They already knew who we were from the phone call. That kind of care and attentiveness might seem small, but in a moment like that, it means everything.I never expected that I’d be leaving without Bella. That outcome was the last thing I saw coming. But even in that moment—when everything felt upside down—they made it easier. Every single person was kind, present, and compassionate. Even through my tears, they explained everything to me with such patience and clarity. They somehow made a heartbreaking diagnosis feel a little less horrible. They also gave me a paw print and a nose print to take home—something I will treasure forever.VEG didn’t just treat my cat—they honored her. And they treated me with dignity and care every step of the way.Thank you, VEG. Truly.
Jul 03, 2025 · JusticeMy 11 year old Lhasa had scratched her eye and had been having some allergy issues. We went to the location in West Nashville and they took fantastic care of us. I would recommend any of the VEG locations
Jun 18, 2025 · Aaron OttoThe staff was very professional, knowledgeable and kind. Beautiful facility with an open concept. Definitely recommend checking them out if your pet needs medical attention.
May 07, 2025 · Stacey TreangenA duck of mine, Daisy, was attacked by a vulture on a Saturday morning, and we rushed her to the VEG location in Nashville West. As soon as we walked through the doors, we were met by a team of doctors and techs who got to work right away helping Daisy. We ended up spending about eight hours at the office, and everyone was so nice and attentive throughout the whole visit. Daisy’s surgery went well, but sadly she passed due to the initial shock and stress of the attack. Dr. Hagan, Riley, Madison and others were all very compassionate and made this hard time a little bit easier. This was my first visit with this office, and I know in the future I will go back if I need to.
