Veterinary Emergency Group Introduce
When a pet emergency strikes in Oklahoma City—whether it’s late at night, on a holiday, or in the middle of a major storm—local pet owners need immediate access to expert, compassionate care. The Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG) facility in Oklahoma City steps in to fill this critical need, serving as a dedicated 24-hour emergency veterinarian service and animal hospital. It is designed from the ground up to address the anxiety and stress that are inevitable during a pet health crisis.
VEG is not a standard veterinary clinic; it is a specialist in emergency medicine, committed to a radically different approach to care. This difference is most apparent in its core philosophy: pets and their parents stay together. This innovative model fundamentally shifts the emergency experience, offering unparalleled transparency and comfort when your beloved animal is most vulnerable. As one Oklahoma client noted after a critical stay, "the most unique and greatest things about this place is the open setup and the fact that you can stay with your pet!"
The entire experience at VEG is built around a collaborative, open-door policy. You and your pet are immediately triaged and seen by a doctor. This commitment to inclusion is highly valued by local pet owners who have faced difficult emergency situations. Being able to remain with their animal—even during surgery or hospitalization—is often cited as the key factor in choosing VEG. In a time of high stress, VEG provides not just medical expertise, but also emotional support for the entire family.
The staff—often referred to as 'VEGgies'—are emergency-trained professionals who focus solely on urgent and critical care. They are ready to handle the unexpected, from routine urgent illnesses to complex surgical emergencies, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including all holidays, ensuring that help is always available for Oklahoma’s pets.

- Exotic Pet Emergency Care: Specialized emergency treatment for birds, reptiles, and other unique pets experiencing issues like egg binding, trauma, or husbandry-related illnesses.

This unprecedented policy transforms a terrifying experience into a manageable one, ensuring your presence helps to comfort your pet during crucial treatment and recovery. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1- Piggy was transferred to VEG Friday night after an emergency splenectomy and going in to cardiac arrest. From the moment we arrived, there was a whole team (including a dr) waiting to help us get Piggy inside and get him hooked up and assessed. Within minutes they had a plan for the next 24-48 hours and during this time we never had to leave his side and they explained everything they were doing. One of the most unique and greatest things about this place is the open setup and the fact that you can stay with your pet! I was able to get set up with Piggy in a room that had a pullout bed - this allowed me to stay with him the entire time. I really feel this helped aide in his recovery because I could be there and comfort him.The staff was so attentive to my boy and also made sure to check in on me! After a 45 hour stay, Piggy got the all clear to go home.I appreciated the care, the transparency, the communication, and the dedication to animals this place has.Yes, ER vets are expensive but the difference here is the level of care, attentiveness, and the ability to stay with your animal. If I ever have another emergency, VEG will be the only option for me and my animals!a HUGE thanks to everyone that helped take care of Piggy!!! August 25 · Alyson Mott
- HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!! You get to stay with your pet 24/7 if you choose we were there 2 days. Each of Seamus’ DVM’s went above and beyond to make us both comfortable. Each were extremely personal yet professional. The entire staff were extremely knowledgeable & collaborated when needed. To the entire staff, thank you immensely for the care of my sweet boy. Because of you he’s still with us. July 28 · Tiffany Booher
- I took my chi mix baby Baxter to VEG after my vets xray showed kidney stones blocking his urinary tract. Thankfully I noticed there was an issue in time. Within 24hr VEG performed emergency bladder surgery to remove the stones and ensure he would be healthy and safe. The hospital itself is no frills, not made to look fancy, but has everything needed to save your pet and make them healthy again. The staff were amazing. Very caring, very hands on and explained everything to a T. I felt things were done in a very timely manner, Baxter was stabilized and made comfortable until surgery time was ready. Everything was a success and its been less than 48hrs and he is home doing really good all things considered! The cost I feel was very fair and laid out exactly as needed. A surgery is never going to be cheap but they aren't there to rob you and take advantage. That is the last vibe I got. Thank you VEG for saving my baby boy who has so much life left in him!-Sal and Baxter Ferreira🐾 August 18 · Sal Ferreira
- Amazing place. Brought my Pomeranian in at like 2 am because the little punk went through the trash and ate some chocolate. The doctor and vet tech who looked at my dog were kind and understanding. After determining that the total amount ingested was not significant and inducing vomiting was not necessary, I was allowed to checkout without paying a dime. There are still good people in this world. Thank you so much. Good karma will be coming to you. August 22 · Joaquin Lopez
- This place has so much care and compassion. My sweet guy, Jack, had to be transferred here from a vet clinic after being stabilized. From the second we walked in, it was obvious they cared. The vet on duty explained all the steps that would be taken overnight. In the end, Jack was not going to be able to come home. They let us sit in a room with him for hours until my husband was able to get back from working out of town. They provided all kinds of snacks and little things to keep him happy and comfortable until the end. They helped me have a way to be able to bring his ashes home, and I can not thank them enough. They vet and vet tech held me while I cried, and it felt like they were a support for me just as much as Jack. When picking up his ashes, they talked to me until I was done crying enough to leave the building. I will always recommend this place for emergency services. THANK YOU SO MUCH VEG for everything you did for me and my family. July 16 · Shayna L
