West Riverside Veterinary Hospital Introduce
For pet owners in Riverside, California, finding a veterinary practice that balances comprehensive, quality care with affordability and convenience is often a top priority. In a bustling area like the Inland Empire, a trusted veterinarian is a vital partner in ensuring our furry family members receive the care they need to live long, healthy lives. West Riverside Veterinary Hospital, often referred to by its clients as "Dr. Butchko's," has built a reputation for providing essential, no-frills veterinary services that are both professional and budget-friendly. This animal hospital serves the local community by focusing on core services for dogs and cats, making quality pet care accessible to more people. They understand the financial and logistical challenges of pet ownership and aim to provide a practical solution for preventative and surgical needs.
West Riverside Veterinary Hospital is located at 5488 Mission Blvd, Riverside, CA 92509, USA. Situated in a central and easily accessible area of Riverside, the hospital serves a wide clientele from the city and surrounding communities. The facility is designed to be accessible to everyone, with a wheelchair-accessible entrance, a wheelchair-accessible parking lot, and a wheelchair-accessible restroom. It's important for potential clients to be aware of the hospital's unique operational model. They do not operate on a traditional appointment system; instead, all patients are seen on a walk-in basis. This can lead to long wait times, as noted in a customer review, with people often lining up before the doors even open. For pet owners who value the convenience of not having to schedule an appointment weeks in advance, this can be a major benefit. However, it requires patience and a willingness to wait. The clinic's same-day service policy, where pets can receive surgery or other treatments on the same day as their visit, is a significant advantage for those who are prepared for the wait.
West Riverside Veterinary Hospital offers a clear and focused range of services for dogs and cats, with a strong emphasis on core preventative and surgical needs. Their services include:
Spay and Neutering: A cornerstone of their practice, they offer spaying and neutering services to help with pet population control and promote long-term health benefits.
Vaccinations: Providing essential vaccinations for both dogs and cats to protect them from common and dangerous diseases. This is a key part of their preventative care offerings.
Surgical Procedures: The hospital is equipped to perform a vast array of surgical interventions, including soft tissue surgeries and other common surgical procedures, allowing them to address various medical issues.
Microchipping: Offering microchipping services, a quick and effective way to provide permanent identification and increase the chances of a lost pet being returned to its owner.
Reproductive Care: Specialized services such as progesterone testing and semen collection are available for breeding purposes, making them a resource for local breeders.
End-of-Life Care: The clinic provides compassionate end-of-life care, including euthanasia services, to help pet owners during one of the most difficult times.
Other Services: They also offer services like ear cropping, OFA testing, and the provision of travel papers, demonstrating their versatility and ability to meet a variety of client needs.
Several key features and highlights make West Riverside Veterinary Hospital a notable choice for pet owners in the area.
Affordability and Value: The clinic is widely known for its reasonable prices, making essential veterinary services more accessible for a wider range of pet owners. This focus on affordability is a major draw for clients.
Same-Day Service: Their walk-in, same-day service model for vaccinations, exams, and even some surgeries is a major convenience. This is a huge benefit for those with urgent needs or who simply don’t want to wait for a scheduled appointment.
Knowledgeable and Friendly Veterinarian: Reviews highlight that Dr. Butchko is "super nice and knowledgeable," providing confidence in the quality of care. The personal connection with a caring veterinarian is a critical factor for many pet owners.
Specialized Services: The hospital’s ability to handle services like reproductive care and ear cropping, which are not offered by every veterinary clinic, adds to its value for a specific segment of the community.

For pet owners in Riverside, California, West Riverside Veterinary Hospital is a compelling option, particularly for those who prioritize affordability and convenience. What makes this hospital worth choosing is its clear mission: to provide essential, high-quality veterinary services without the high costs and lengthy waits often associated with traditional clinics. While the walk-in model means that patience is required—as acknowledged by a customer who shared a photo of the long line—the payoff is access to a knowledgeable veterinarian and a range of services at a reasonable price. The positive feedback about Dr. Butchko's expertise and kindness, along with the hospital's ability to handle same-day surgical procedures, provides significant peace of mind. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Always very busy so expect to wait a long time. Even if you show up when they open they will have a long line outside the door. They are reasonably priced and vet is super nice and knowledgeable. They will help you and your fur baby! (Pic of us waiting, there are some chairs but not a lot.)
July 26 · A HumphreyReasonable pricing, the vets are friendly. The front desk employees need a little work on friendliness and professionalism. The first guy I spoke to made me feel like I was wasting his time and kept rolling his eyes. The second employee was extremely helpful and communicated way better. Other than that one experience I will return again. Definitely heard lots of great things about Dr. Butchko.
September 05 · Nicolle CounsellTake so long been here since 11:30am and it is 6:03pm. and still have not been seen by the Dr. Girls at the front are not even at the front to help, take forever for customer service.
March 20 · Joana lvfSadly the only reason I am giving 1 star is because the staff in the front office is very rude. I’m so sorry for the Owner of this place, I have been here when the Owner is present and the customer service is so different, it’s as if the front office are on their best behavior and the only time they do not turn down walkins before 1pm. Sadly when the owner is not on site they do not allow any walkins after 11 am. My husband and I arrived at 11:01 10/26/24 today and like always the receptionist was really rude turned my husband away did not allow for our dog to be seen today for the medical reason we took him for. I hope the owners of this place know what the staff in front reception are doing to loyal customers. I have no complaints over the years about any Vets just the rude staff and not helping customers that arrive before 12 pm.
October 26 · Mary JNo appointments for walk in visits only, so it's kind of chaotic getting signed in. I had multiple dogs with me. One being a very well mannered trained service Retriever. 3 yrs old and the other a scared timid 30 lb Sharpie. About the time my Sharpie settled down and was still. I was asked by the receptionist to move down one seat so they could remember who was signed in and up next I guess. Needless to say I would think they could have figured a simpler way to keep track, rather then expecting people to play musical chairs with there pets that are not always easy to handle in strange new places
