Nature Box Pet Emporium Reviews
This store has been a long time favorite of mine and I have come here for many years, and have spent thousands. I have many reptiles whom I’ve taken in as surrenders, so this store is a go-to for emergency bug supply and fun items. The staff is very hit or miss. We have had some exceptionally wonderful experiences with very knowledgeable employees. On the other hand, we’ve had some awful experiences with rude, short, and snappy employees. I do not know their names: one is an older male with kids, and the other is a young girl with longer black hair. I will never forget a few months ago, she was so rude to me when I had my bearded dragon with me on a cooler evening after we had a trip to the vet for a wellness check. “Do you always take your dragon out when it’s this cold?” She asked in such a sarcastic tone. I said no. “You know cold air isn’t good for them.” Of course I do. He was tucked in my hoodie against my skin. I wasn’t going to leave him in the car. “You better watch him for the next week because he will likely develop a respiratory infection” she said in very threatening way. No matter how many times I told her he was fine, she wouldn’t drop it. Ultimately: my dragon IS fine, never got sick. Clean bill of health and very happy. I’ve raised him from 4 weeks old, he will turn a year old this May. It was a one-time outing. Despite her input, I know I’m a responsible owner and I am still in awe of how stupid she made me feel. Educating customers is one thing, but she was downright hateful and humiliating. I have never had such a negative experience with an employee. Now, every time we return to the store and she is present, she seems to recognize me and it is very hostile and uncomfortable. I dread going in on days that she may happen to be there, so it encourages me to visit other stores instead which is a bummer because I love this store! I hope she can find it within herself to be less judgmental towards other loyal customers in the future, or perhaps find another line of work that doesn’t require customer service now that I’ve read other negative reviews on her having had similar problems with her attitude.
Mar 28, 2025 · Madelynn WayneOver a year ago in April 2024, I purchased an adult leopard gecko thru these guys in store. I tragically lost my childhood gecko nearly 20 years ago due to the lack of proper information on husbandry, so with all the current information out there today, I felt I could do this little friend right. She came home and settled in fairly quickly. At vet time shortly after, she was considered very healthy! No parasites or signs of MBD, great body condition. She's been living the dream in a naturalistic 36x18x18 vivarium basking to her hearts delight until I can get a bioactive setup established for her.I also have been returning for feeders between dubias, mealworms, and a few others since getting her (I don't trust myself with a colony of anything lol). We have had 0 issues and the quality of feeders has been very consistent in my experience. They also have a great selection of decorations such as natural branches of many types, as well as just about anything else you would need. They are the one place near me that I know where to get a replacement UVB bulb for the right brand without having to order online.I never once had someone at the store make me feel unwelcome or uncomfortable. The few times I do have questions, I feel satisfied with the answers.Great people, great critters!
Jun 07, 2025 · ClaudeI am writing to express a serious concern regarding a product I recently purchased at your store. While I have always appreciated the helpfulness and knowledge of your staff, I have encountered a significant issue that I feel needs immediate attention and awareness among your customers.Recently, I purchased two snakes, a ball python and a carpet python. I typically buy live food from your store and decided to enhance their enclosures with some natural elements, including wood and wood chip bedding. Upon inquiring with your staff about the safety of adding these items, I was assured that it was perfectly safe, with the recommendation to monitor humidity levels.Following this advice, I added some of the bedding to my ball python's enclosure. Within two weeks, my snake was severely infested with mites. Despite attempting treatment, the infestation became aggressive, and tragically, my ball python passed away two weeks ago.Alarmingly, one week ago, I used the same brand of bedding, "PREMIUM REPTI BARK," in my carpet python's tank. Now, my carpet python is also covered in mites. The introduction of this bedding is the only change I made to either enclosure before the mite infestations occurred.Given these circumstances, I strongly urge you to review the safety of "PREMIUM REPTI BARK" bedding and inform your customers about the potential risk of mite infestations associated with this product. I believe it is crucial to prevent other reptile owners from experiencing similar devastating losses.Thank you for your time and attention to this urgent matter.
Apr 30, 2025 · TimAmazing store. Great set up, wonderful and healthy selection. Staff is knowledgeable but not willing to listen. All advice was contradicting and reused sales based upon this. Not my first time with aquatics. Went to store across the street and got exactly what I needed and is working perfectly. This is unfortunate because your diverse choices in animal and plant life are amazing! Ego lost your business.
Jun 23, 2025 · K JThis place will never get my money ever again and all my friends and family also won’t give them another cent. The plants they sell are always dying. They use some sort of wax melt or something to cover the smell of the building because it’s gross. Every single cage is full of feces and the geckos have rotten food in the cages. Every worker there acts like they hate their life and have permanent RBF the males that work there are the worst. I will say I spoke with one man there that was very nice and good with customers. I came in to spend some serious money on supplies and a reptile. I was treated the worst I’ve ever been treated as a customer. I was excited to use my 10% coupon from the expo and was disgusted by the interaction I had. This man or should I say uneducated boy had entitlement and had outdated information that he tired to feed me. This little boy had no idea what he was talking about. I have had this enclosure prepped and ready for months monitoring the temp, heat, and humidity before I even thought about getting the animal I was wanting to get. I know my basking spots and temps I know my uvb output he doesn't. I was disgusted by the way he treated me and talked to me and I ultimately left. I worked in the veterinary field and have worked with reptiles my whole life so I’m pretty sure I’m qualified and didn’t need his outdated incorrect information and terrible attitude. Go to scales and tails or Parker exotics where your treated with respect and their animals are cared for. The owner of Parker exotics has vet med background and takes very good care of her animals and monitoring them. They need to clean up their cages, ditch the nasty wax melters, and clean up their terrible staff. Absolutely horrible place. I’ve heard many people say they also had a horrible experience. Thank god I didn’t get an animal from them with their dirty nasty cages. I tried to overlook and then the attitude and treatment sent me running.
