I wanted to share my experience at Petco Grooming. We have a West Highland White Terrier, and we’ve been growing out the hair on his face for almost a year to get that classic Westie look.Because English is not my first language and we had a bad grooming experience in the past, I came with my husband to make sure everything was explained clearly. We told the groomer very specifically: please do not cut the hair on his face, just clean a little around the ears, mouth (for hygiene), and eyes so he can see. For the body — keep the skirt, trim the neck shorter and blend it into the back. And of course, full hygiene.My husband even repeated several times: “Please don’t touch the head. We want the ‘lion look’.”When I came to pick him up, my heart sank. His beautiful face hair was trimmed short — exactly what we asked not to do. I told the groomer, and she just said, “I’m sorry.”I left very upset. We were so clear with our instructions, and this was really important to us. I’m sharing this story in case it helps another pet owner avoid the same disappointment.📷 I’ve attached photos to show what we were going for — and what we got.

I’ve never been disappointed and neither has my handsome fellow. It’s why I keep going and also why my “BIG BABY” whines when pulling up. He knows to expect nothing but freshness and the best coming from here. It’s one of his favorite outings🥰😂. It’s so funny to see him immediately run to his bowl once we get home and anxiously await for me to put the food into his bowl. Seeing this alone I know the food is a hit 🔥 🔥

Then, less than 24 hours before the appointment, I get a call saying the groomer “can’t accept dogs over 45 lbs” and that the earliest available time would now be 1:00 PM — the absolute peak heat of the day. After pushing back, they agreed to move it to 12:00, but that’s still dangerously hot when you’re dealing with a vehicle without AC.When I arrived, they asked a routine question: “Is your dog on any medication?”I answered honestly — yes, she’s finishing a round of antibiotics for a now-resolved ear infection, with one day left.Their response?
