I am writing to express my profound disappointment with the care provided by Dr. Lauren Wisser at Genesee Valley Visiting Vet, PLLC in Geneseo, NY.In January 2025, I brought my dog, Cooper, to the clinic due to his persistent coughing with blood at times, him being bloated and his loss of energy after short bouts of activity, which was completely abnormal for him. Despite these concerning signs, Dr.Wisser, who actually witnessed, as did her tech, Cooper coughing up blood, told me she was not concerned about it. She had taken supposed lung x-rays a week prior to this at our first visit where she told me "There is no cancer present in his lungs" and that I was going to have to start "pushing" him to exercise aggressively to get the fluid that he was retaining off from him. At the second visit where he coughed up blood, Dr. Wisser decided she would like her own blood work done, as we had had blood work done earlier by our other vet. I agreed and expressed concern again about his coughing, at which time Dr. Lauren said she would take another X-ray of Cooper's lungs to be sure nothing had developed and because she had prescribed a diuretic in the previous visit to rid some of the fluid, which it did not! Dr. Wisser came back in the room after supposed X-Rays and said, and I quote, "His lungs are just fine, the fluid has decreased and I see no signs of cancer" She did not show me the X-Rays this time as she had before, and when I showed interest in seeing them she said, oh they're not much different than last time we took them.Over the following 3 days, Cooper's condition worsened significantly. I called the clinic on January 10th, but again, was ignored until I became upset with the staff (Tina was wonderful and very compassionate) and finally received a call back from a Tech who told me "Dr. Wisser cannot help you, she suggested you go to an emergency vet", which incidentally their clinic advertises they are.Tragically, on January 10th, Cooper passed away while at Nunda Veterinary Clinic where Dr. Emo very caringly listened to me, and to Cooper. She determined after listening to Cooper's lungs that she needed to take X-Rays because she feared he most likely had cancer. Dr. Emo was right; Cooper did have cancerous lungs. She showed the Xray's to me where I could clearly see all of the cancer his lungs were full of. Cooper died in her clinic that day because his poor body just couldn't take anymore.I believe that the lack of appropriate medical intervention and the dismissive attitude of Dr. Wisser contributed directly to my dog's unnecessary suffering and aggressive death.I have since requested Care Credit remove the charge that Dr. Wisser charged for her services or lack thereof to include Xray's she couldn't produce to no avail. Dr. Wisser was able to produce invoices she so craftily had me sign due to my lack of veterinary knowledge. I was unable to prove her negligence with the Care Credit, however, am considering filing a formal complaint, because I owe it to Cooper for allowing this to happen to him, with the State Veterinary Licensing Board to address this issue and to prevent other pet owners from experiencing similar heartbreak.I urge fellow pet owners to exercise caution when considering Dr. Lauren Wisser at Genesee Valley Visiting Vet, PLLC. for veterinary care. - Susie Rawleigh-Rowe
