Animal Cancer & Imaging Center Introduce
In the heart of Southeast Michigan, a special place exists for pet owners facing one of the most difficult challenges: a cancer diagnosis for their beloved companion. While our family veterinarians are a crucial part of our pets’ lives, complex and specialized cases require a different kind of expertise. We're talking about a facility that focuses entirely on advanced diagnostics and treatment. For residents of Canton Township and beyond, that place is the Animal Cancer & Imaging Center. This facility isn't just an animal hospital; it's a dedicated center of excellence for veterinary oncology and advanced imaging, providing hope and a path forward for pets and their families across the state.
This specialized center is staffed by a team of professionals who have devoted their lives to understanding and treating pet cancer. They provide state-of-the-art care in a compassionate and supportive environment. From the moment you receive a referral from your primary care vet, the team at Animal Cancer & Imaging Center is ready to work with you, developing a comprehensive and personalized treatment plan. Their commitment is to not only extend your pet’s life but, most importantly, to maintain their quality of life, allowing them to continue being a happy and vital part of your family.
Finding a specialty clinic can sometimes be a challenge, but the Animal Cancer & Imaging Center is conveniently located at 8560 N Canton Center Rd, Canton Township, MI 48187. Its location in Canton makes it a central and accessible option for pet owners throughout metropolitan Detroit, Ann Arbor, and even farther afield. The clinic is an hour and a half from Lansing and about two and a half hours from Grand Rapids, making it a viable option for those across Michigan who need specialized care.
The facility is designed with the comfort and ease of its clients in mind. It features a wheelchair-accessible entrance and a wheelchair-accessible parking lot, ensuring that everyone can visit without issue. A clean and well-maintained restroom is also available on-site. The clinic operates on an appointment basis, which is highly recommended to ensure the team can give each patient the focused attention and time they need. This structured approach helps minimize wait times and allows for a more personalized and less stressful experience for both you and your pet.
The core mission of Animal Cancer & Imaging Center is to provide advanced and specialized care for pets with cancer. Their services are extensive and focused, leveraging the latest technology and medical knowledge in the field of veterinary oncology. Unlike a general practice, they offer a depth of service that is crucial for managing complex diseases.
- Diagnostic Imaging and Laboratory Services: The center lives up to its name with a suite of advanced diagnostic tools. This includes state-of-the-art CT scanning, abdominal ultrasound, and X-rays. They also have an in-house diagnostic lab for quick and accurate results from blood tests, urine samples, and complete blood counts, all of which are essential for proper diagnosis and monitoring.
- Oncological Treatments: Their expertise lies in a range of cancer therapies. They provide both medical oncology, which includes pets' chemotherapy and administration of various cancer drugs, and radiation oncology, with services like radiation treatment and access to a team of radiation oncologists and therapists.
- Surgical Oncology: The team is highly skilled in performing a variety of complex surgical procedures. This includes oncologic surgeries such as tumor resection and tumors removed. They also handle specialized procedures like limb amputations and reconstructive surgery when necessary, with a strong focus on pain control and patient monitoring.
- Supportive and Emergency Care: Recognizing that cancer treatment can be a long journey, they offer crucial supportive care. This includes a blood bank for transfusions, fluid therapy, and pain management. They also provide 24-hour emergency medicine and emergency surgery, ensuring that they can address any urgent issues that arise during a pet’s treatment.
Animal Cancer & Imaging Center distinguishes itself through a combination of cutting-edge technology, a deeply compassionate approach, and a commitment to ongoing education and research. These features are what make them a beacon of hope for so many Michigan families.
- Specialized Expertise: The center is led by a team of specialists who focus solely on cancer care. This singular focus means they have a deep understanding of the latest research, treatment protocols, and therapies. Their involvement in clinical research and clinical trials ensures they are at the forefront of veterinary medicine.
- Compassionate Care: The reviews from clients consistently highlight the kindness and empathy of the staff. One grateful owner noted that the doctors and staff "learn about the animals and show their love," while another said, "when they give our Maddie a new toy to take home it makes us feel just a little bit better about being there." This emotional support is invaluable during such a challenging time.
- Advanced Technology: The availability of advanced equipment, such as a CT scanner and other advanced imaging tools, allows for more precise diagnoses and treatment plans. This level of technology is not typically found in a general practice, which is why they operate as a veterinarian referral clinic.
- Comprehensive Approach: They don't just treat the disease; they treat the whole animal. Their services include pain management, oral medication, and even management of co-existing conditions like kidney disease. They also offer curbside service for convenience and to reduce stress for pets.

August 28 · Pam ScrogginsThe doctors and staff are amazing. They learn about the animals and show their love. God has blessed us with more time with our pup and they have been His conduit of healing grace.
July 11 · Glen GreenI could not recommend a better place than this. The doctors here are more than knowledgeable about their expertise and just truly want the best outcome for the furry animals. My heart was broken knowing my baby has cancer, but after going here- my heart is at peace knowing he is in the best hands with amazing care! Highly highly recommend this place to anyone!
September 27 · Jordan K AhoWhen we started coming to this facility I thought this place seems compassionate and that the staff are genuine and they really give excellent care. After 3 weeks of treatments that are not cheap but worth it as pets are like children I can sadly say that my opinion changed. The vet introduced me to another dog and said his 1st 3 treatments didnt work either and now the 4th treatment (a new medication) put him in full remission and that's the medicine your dog received today (1,100.00) so she's going to do good. Fast forward ONE hour on our way home my dog collapses on our drive home and I pull over do cpr and take her to our vet 5 min away where they say she's gone! 😭 I feel like they should have kept her for a bit to monitor her but instead sent her right out the door. I have yet to receive a call to say our condolences or anything. My vet called them while we were there and they said they were surprised (she tolerated the rest of the treatments) well yes those were different meds. They said they were going to email to not be intrusive yet they never did. You can take my 1,100.00 but not make a phone call. You're surprised because either it was too strong for her or because you didnt monitor her like you should. This vet is not empathetic, compassionate or genuine. My family is devastated.
June 05 · Chassity CainWe took our dog , Summit (6 years old) , for a 2nd opinion and to get a plan for bladder cancer. It turns out he does not have bladder cancer as the tests done previously had false positive results because he had an enlarged prostate that was bleeding and clouding the bladder. ACIC did a BRAF Test and an ultrasound that showed no bladder trouble but a large prostate. He was neutered and his prostate has shrunk to half the size. We have a new lease on life! We are so grateful for those that recommended ACIC and the lovely care we received!
