★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I was very impressed with Emergency Service West in Plymouth. My dog went in with pancreatitis and potential diabetic ketoacidosis on 8/15/25. They were instantly responsive, treated him with the best care all weekend and gave me all details of what was happening. They always not only took my calls and let me speak to the vets on staff, but encouraged me to call and check on him as often as I needed to. Luckily, he had a massive turnaround and this was his face by Sunday when he left. I appreciate them treating him with such thorough care and treating me with such kindness.
August 18 · Courtney OlbrichWe took our senior dog there recently. The staff took our history and we were able to wait in our car until we were ready to be seen, which was more comfortable for all of us. Dr. Roux was wonderful - took time to listen to our concerns and do a careful examination, then explained her findings and recommendations carefully. She prescribed medications which were dispensed on site, and our dog is doing much better. For emergency services, the cost was reasonable and we were given options regarding additional diagnostic workup, which we chose to decline until we were able to follow up with our usual vet. The facilities were clean, the staff was caring, and the overall experience was very positive. Would not hesitate to return.
June 30 · Kirsten WaaralaSorry this is a long post, but it is worth the read if you are trying to decide if this is the place to take your pet.....My experience with Veterinary Emergency Service West was terrible and will NEVER take any of my beloved pets there again. I put into a room right next to where they were euthanizing pets, and me and my pup had to listen to the crying and distress of the families, which my heart ached for them and it further upset my girl. All the while worrying that this is going to happen to my baby girl...I was ignored as to the symptoms and what I seen wrong with my pup. Such as her acting scared of me, not wanting to be social, lifting her head and stretching out her neck, pacing and no long interested in playing (which she loved doing). When the Vet came in the room she asked her questions, which she was so loud and seem emotionless. Then all she did was manipulate my pups neck and press on her back (hard) to where my girl did flinch (any dog would have with that pressure). It was NEVER offered to do blood work or look at anything else, like the Neurologic issue I was stating (that was ignored). She suggested to maybe do x-rays but she seem hesitant do, because of the state my girl was in, so we didn't. The Vet stated that my girl just had neck pain or maybe the start of IVDD (a spinal disease). So, they gave her an injection of an opioid pain med and sent us home with pain meds, muscle relaxers and suggested x-rays take place at the Vet appointment I had already set up in 3 days....After getting my girl home which was late, within a couple hours she started pacing again and now throwing up water. The next morning I rushed her to a way better emergency vet (OVRS). They spent the time trying to stabilize her, running test and making her comfortable. In the end I had my heart shattered because it was determine that my baby girl was neurologic, which was likely due to a tumor in her brain and she likely had a severe stroke. My poor baby could no longer eat, drink, or stand and worst of all she no longer recognized me.....Now for the issue that really threw me over the edge. I called back to this place, VES - West, and let them know my girl had passed and complained that I was not listened to when I was there. After they requested the records from OVRS, I received a call from the manager and even though she sounded sympathetic, it was stated that this is a good learning experience for their facility....WHAT!!! I am so glad that the death of my pup could be your learning experience. Also, that I need to understand that they don't have the equipment like OVRS and they likely would not have been able to diagnose my pup.....SO then why not tell me that my pups situation was out of their knowledge. NOTHING will bring me back my Beloved Baby Girl, but the least VES - West could have done is offered me a refund due to there lack of competence in this case....The photo below is my baby in that awful room at VES - West.

August 25 · Joshua R.Last evening we had an unexpected emergency with our beloved pet dog, Finnegan. The staff were very caring, professional and efficient. Our pet was found to have undiagnosed cancer and bleeding internally. They cared not only for our pet but also for our family. I would like to thank the entire staff for their kindness.
